Okay, well, I told myself a while back that I wouldn’t buy any more clothes from the juniors department, but I may or may not have violated that with this dress from RVCA (pronounced “roo-kuh”).
They’re a casual line of surf-inspired SoCal clothing for guys and gals.
They’ve been around a while, but I’d never tried any of their stuff until recently, when I ordered a couple of tops and dresses on sale from Haute Look earlier this spring thinking that I’d be able to wear them when it warmed up outside.
And then I come to find out that the line’s also carried locally at stores like Tilly’s at the mall…where I always see teenagers hanging out.
This dress here isn’t super fancy at all, but it has subtle little flashes of flair that I like — a hem that’s slightly longer in the back, and a little twist in the straps.
I can’t seem to find this exact dress online right now, but here’s a similar design, the $40 RVCA High Priestess dress, if you’re interested.

Since there really isn’t much to the dress, I added some extra zip with a rose-colored cuff — which reminds me, I’ve been seeing rose gold everywhere lately! I guess it’s the metal of the moment — and some long feather earrings.
SHOES!
My favorite part. I’m wearing nude platforms here to make me look like I have longer gams, an illusion I use all the time, thanks to my towering 5’1″ frame.

MAC Hot Nights Powder Blush is for those times when you want your cheeks to look like they’re “glistening” (let’s not call it sweating; it’s not nearly as cute), like after some hot hubba-hubba action or a seriously vigorous elliptical session at the gym.

Got time? I hope so, because I wouldn’t even bother with this berry pink unless I had a few extra minutes for blending. That’s how pigmented it is. But I think it’s worth every second, especially if the theme of your evening is, “huntress on the prowl…”

Where Ripe For Love, the other blush from the Temperature Rising collection, can pull off naughty or nice, Hot Nights can’t.
Because it’s straight up naughty (which is nice). 🙂

Today Sophie of Soof the Geek shares a fast, easy and affordable way to trim your hair’s layers at home.
I wanted to show you guys how to thin your hair out and soften your layers at home — all with a simple disposable razor blade! First of all, I’d not recommend this to you girls with curly or thin hair. Slicing thin hair or hair that isn’t straight can be tricky. It will take too much off, so please don’t try this yourself, and go to a hair salon instead.
How did I come up with this trick? The last time I went to a hair salon they unfortunately took a very “creative” route, and I ended up having choppy layers that needed a lot of styling… That’s something I don’t have time for, and later when I was browsing YouTube a video caught my eye. In it this guy was styling his hair with a razor blade he got at a hair salon, and I figured that if he could do it, so could I. So let’s begin!
What you’ll need:

First, brush your hair through very, very thoroughly. You don’t want any knots or kinks, or the razor will take off that entire section! If your hair isn’t straight yet, you should straighten it now.
Next, stand in front of a mirror, and take about a 1-2 inch section of hair in your hand, keeping it apart from the rest of your hair.
