Lip Look: Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Pop Pink

February 27th, 2009 by Karen 12 Comments

estee lauder gloss stick pop pink lip swatch

Looks like we made it through another week, ladies. 🙂

For lunch today I met a friend in San Francisco, and the two of us hit up this Thai food place called Tara. It was hours ago, but I’m still stuffed.

I had a dish called Pad Kee Mao, which has flat noodles, green beans, and in this case shrimp in a super spicy sauce. My lips were burning up! — but they looked even hotter than they felt thanks to Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Pop Pink ($18.50).

From the new Bronze Goddess collection, Pop Pink looks hella bright in the tube, but don’t let that scur you. She leaves a shiny, semi-sheer rosy pink on the lips.

Much like Prescriptives LipShines and MAC Slimshine lipsticks, Pure Color Gloss Sticks are packaged like lipsticks but shine like a gloss.

In terms of texture, Pop Pink feels light and slick, a dead ringer for the texture of MAC Cremesheen, which I love.

And like most Estee Lauder lip products, Pure Color Gloss Sticks are unflavored (but have a light floral scent).

I’m lovin’ Pop Pink! She’s such a casual Friday lip. There’s enough pink to pull the look together, but the sheerness and shine keep it on the relaxed side. I would totally wear it with dark jeans, a suit blazer and heels.

Some ladies feel pink lips are just for summer, but I think they look great all year round.

Whew! It’s been a long week. I hope whatever you do tonight involves lipstick (even if you’re just watching TV on the couch). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

The bronze collection looks great and the pink is girly & fun. I love sheer lipsticks. So easy to wear !
My evening was great, had a late dinner with some friends. The only sad thing was that TGIF decided to take my fav dish out of their menu and I had dragged all my friends there just so I could eat it 🙁

Hey i’m thinking of picking up mac slimshine soon. Is there any MAC lipgloss that isn’t very sticky or am i better off getting the slimshine as a substitute?

    Hi Jojoba,

EL created some beautiful collections this year. I like ’em, too! What products are you most interested in?

    Hi Indian Girl,

What a bummer! I hate it when restaurants remove dishes that I love. There’s a pizza place nearby that used to have this amazing chopped salad with all these odd (but very tasty) chopped bits like pomegranate, persimmon, chicken, but they took it off the menu because it was only seasonal for fall. I got a little huffy when I found that out, LOL.

What dish was your favorite? Maybe if enough people keep asking for it they’ll bring it back.

    Hi Martha,

You might like the new Creamsheen Glasses. They feel less sticky than the Lipglasses on the lips.

    Hi Karen B.,

The Cremesheen lipsticks have more coverage, for sure! But I think these can be fun if you’re in the mood for semi-sheer.

It’s looking like the sun’s coming out today, yay! How are things in your neck of the woods?

A lot of sun today but pretty cold I think. I’ve spent most of the day taking care of my roommate who’s terribly hungover and had a bit of a faint/dizzy spell this afternoon. That was quite scary.

I love Thai food, I always get chicken in a red curry sauce and my husband loves the spicy seafood soup, yum!

That pink is so pretty, you’re right, it would have totally scared me away just by looking at it in the tube lol. I’m glad you showed us how pretty and sheer it is, thanks!

I love the way that color looks on you. I don’t know if I could pull that off though because my skin is dark. I think you’ve got to have a heck of a personality to bring off certain bright makeup colors.

You definitely do it and very well. I love your blog!
