Freida Pinto 2009 SAG Awards Look, Version 2.0

February 27th, 2009 by Karen 24 Comments

The mission: to duplicate Freida Pinto’s SAG 2009 makeup look!

This time around (check out my previous attempt), I added a drugstore makeup twist.

Version 2.0 relies on some Neutrogena products, like the Nourishing Eye Duo in Starry Night ($9), an eyeshadow duo with two shimmery shades of blue.

The first time I tried this look, I ended up with a bright teal eye with a crisp black eyeliner. For Version 2.0, I decided to aim for a shimmery grayish blue on the lid. I think it’s a little closer to Freida’s original look than my last try.

This time, after laying down a base of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit over the entire eye, I mixed both the blues from the Starry Night on the lid.

Then I changed my crease color. In the first look it was MAC Soft Brown. This time, I went for a darker shade, MAC Saddle.

One last thing I switched was the liner. Rather than something that would give a crisp black line, I went for a softer, more diffused line with a black pencil (I used MAC Technakohl Liner in Graphblack) beneath the Starry Night’s dark blue shadow.

For the rest of the makeup, I tried to stay soft and subtle using more Neutrogena products. That’s Soft Color Blush in Sunny Spice ($10) on my cheeks and Moisture Shine Lipsheer Liptick in Sparkling Nude ($9) on my lips.

Hope you’re having a great afternoon so far. TGIF!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Heya Yadi,

Aww, no more crankiness, girl! You are sooo heading on vacay in a few. That’s something to celebrate.

Have fun at dinner tonight! Do you know what you’re going to order?

I just got back from lunch in SF with a friend. I had Thai food and it was soooo spicy (I’m normally such a wimp when it comes to spicy food), but it tasted really good. Now I’m ready for a nap, LOL! Sigh, homework calls, though!

      Hi P. Potter,

      🙂 Thanks, homie!

I’ve heard good things about the L’Oreal Kohls, too. I haven’t tried them yet, though. For navy blue liner, I find myself reaching for Stila Convertible Eye Color in Indigo (that’s the product with both a liner and a shadow). While back I had a navy blue from the Prestige line (crap, I can’t remember the exact shade… I think it was called Denim) and I LOVED it.

Oh wow that’s gorgeous! You did an awesome job recreating Frida’s look. I am definitely gonna have to try this out next week. I *think* I have the colors to pull it off. Do you like those Neutrogena shadows though? I’ve never tried any of their beauty products…

This look is beautiful on you. I like it more than the first one. I have that Neutrogena lipstick, and it doesn’t look anything like that on me! Jealous! 😛

    Hi Jaimie,

Thanks! Blues are fast becoming my favorite colors to wear. You contest sounds fun. I haven’t really kept up with Lady Gaga, but I love her song and video Just Dance. She looks really pretty in it!

    Hi Nadrah,

Doesn’t that lipstick feel really good when it’s on? It feels all tingly and minty, LOL. Kinda wakes me up in the morning. 🙂

Do you like Neutrogena makeup? I love the blushes!

    Hi Catherine,

    Thank you!

I really like Neutrogena makeup (their blushes are *awesome*). These eyeshadows are pretty good; the shimmer looks subdued and not too OTT and the color payoff, texture and wear time is above average for a drugstore brand. I liked Starry Night enough to want to try more in the future. 🙂

Here’s one way to get the Freida Pinto SAG makeup. It looks like you nailed it, though!
