MAC Unsung Heroes: MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush

March 10th, 2014 by Karen 38 Comments

MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush
Wearing MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush ($25) on my cheeks

I love the way I feel with MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush on my cheeks…

I feel good, and by “good” I mean that feeling you get on a sunny day when you’re out walking in just jeans and a t-shirt, or “good,” like when you and a friend share dessert someplace on a lazy afternoon, and you both know each other so well that neither of you really feels the need to talk just to fill the space.

Comforting, natural and effortless. That’s how I feel with Warm Soul on my cheeks. It’s as if it was always meant to be there — like it was just waiting for me to find it, and when I did, the puzzle pieces fit.

Is it weird to feel this kind of connection with a golden beige powder blush?

If it is, I can’t say I care. 🙂

Warm Soul is the blush I’ve been waiting for — the one that works with errrrthing, that doesn’t get in the way of whatever eye or lip makeup I happen to be wearing, and yet has enough to stand on its own two legs when all I want to do that day is lightly fill in my brows, curl my lashes and apply a little concealer and gloss.

Warm Soul on my NC42 skin

That’s how I wore it yesterday when El Hub and I made a last-minute Target run before The Walking Dead (which I thought was awesome, BTW).

I had less than five minutes to get ready. Only enough time for minimal makeup (“Brows, lashes, lips,” to quote Jeremy Renner) and to sweep Warm Soul on my cheeks.

Gotta love not having to do any elaborate blending or having to deal with any patchiness. Just a few swipes on each cheek, and it’s all good.

That’s MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence on my lips

I think it’s also a great everyday color — one that almost anyone can wear — because its golden beige color falls smack dab in the middle of the pigment pack. Not too dark, nor too light, too cool or warm. It’s just right.

It lights up my face with natural-looking, sun-kissed illumination without competing with whatever else I may (or may not) be wearing. Dress it up with a winged liner, or dress it down with a little lip balm. Whatever your mood, Warm Soul just works.

I think it also pairs well with summery peach, pink and coral lip colors — or even reds and nudes.

MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush
I’m wearing MAC Amber Lights, Soft Brown and Shroom on my lids; Urban Decay Half Baked on my lower lash lines; and Dolce & Gabbana Chocolate liner on my waterlines.

Keep it in mind this year as you look for blushes to wear with spring and summer eye makeup. I bet it’ll look amazing with shimmery summer colors like bronze, gold and teal. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I always wonder how it will work for me. I’m currently wearing BB Warm Honey Foundation. So, I’m darker than you. I wonder if it will show up well. What do you think, Karen? It looks great on you.

      Hi Liz,

You can wear this shade. It may take you couple layers though, and it would probably be more of a winter/early spring color if you tan in the summer. You can always layer it with something like MAC Margin or Sunbasque. That would be super pretty too!

It’s one of my fave Cremesheens. 🙂 What do you usually like to wear it with?

I think of Tarte Exposed when I think of a blush soulmate. Although I’m rather fickle when it comes to blush, Exposed has never once left me wishing I chose something else.

I just picked this up yesterday!!! I went to MAC and asked for a suggestion of a springy, shimmery, peachy blush and the girl that was helping me immediately handed me warm soul. I love it! I am much lighter than you (NW10) and it still works. I also picked up saddle eyeshadow to fill in my brows. It was a fun trip!

Yay, Kelly! I’m glad you had such a fun trip to the MAC counter. So great to hear that Warm Soul also works for a lighter gals in the NW category. 🙂

What brush are you using to filling your brows?

I need this blush in my life! I don’t have a lot of time to get ready in the morning, so a fool-proof blush is a necessity. It looks so pretty on you, Karen!

      Hi Deanna!

      Thank you very much. 🙂

I feel you on not having a lot of time to get ready. These days it always feel like I’m rushing out the door. I get like 10, maybe 15 minutes tops, to put on makeup. How long do you typically have to get done up in the morning?

I usually have around 15 minutes, too, during the week. I hate rushing, though, so on the weekends, I give myself as much time as I want to get ready. 🙂

The last night’s episode was excellent. Do you watch Talking Dead afterward? If you don’t, you should start! It is so good.

Karen you’re so gorgeous! This look is soo beautiful! The blush is lovely on you but unfortunately macs mineralized products don’t work for me. Is there a nars dupe? I’m feeling less than fantastic, I’ve managed to catch some cold and I look pretty shittay lol. I’m definitely replicating this look with what I have when I’m better <3

It’s wonderful when you find that one thing that goes with everything! Variety is nice, as is contrast, but sometimes you just want to be able to throw something on and know it works no matter what.

Shine and that subtle bronzy cheeks? Can one achieve this with one product? This year I really want to own minimum makeup products. : )
I use Becca shimmering powder in Rose Gold, but I think it looks little too metallic.

You might be able to do it with Warm Soul (depends on your skin tone of course). You also might want to try something like Hourglass Ambient in Radiant Light! It has that bronzy, sunlit quality and subtle shimmer.
