MAC Unsung Heroes: Right Image Cremesheen Glass

April 9th, 2012 by Karen 19 Comments

A sheer pink gloss to layer atop neutral pink lipsticks? — that shouldn’t be hard to find.

Right…?

Famous last words.

You’d think it would be easy peasy! — but quite a few sheer pink glosses have a milky quality to ’em and pigments that gather in the fine lines of my lips; the end result can look patchy and uneven.

Or how about sheer pink glosses that are just too sheer? Or too pigmented? Gah! In the first case, they don’t add much, if anything, to the lipsticks they’re supposed to enhance; in the second, they overwhelm the lipsticks they’re supposed to help.

With MAC Right Image Cremesheen Glass ($19.50), I can happily tick the box next to “None of the above.” 🙂

This sheer, pale mid-tone bluish pink packs just the right amount of pigment. It’s enough that when I wear it by itself, I can see the pink on my lips, but it’s not so bold or opaque that it overshadows lipsticks when it’s worn on top (oh! — I love how it looks on top of Modesty Cremesheen).

The smooth formula doesn’t pool up in my lip lines, either. It must be too busy subtly brightening my lips. 🙂

New MAC video: Applying false lashes with MAC artist Jennifer

Need help applying false lashes? So with ya, sister. I’m decent enough, but it takes me a really long time (and I usually make a mess).

I’d love to get to where I can apply ’em in 5 minutes or less…

Dare to dream!

This video looks like it’ll help.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

This looks like a really practical shade that everybody should have! I don’t have a lot of lipglosses (strange how I have more lipsticks than glosses) yet, so I’ll look into it 🙂

PS: I’d LOVE to watch that video, but it has apparently been removed by the user! I found it here though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM4xx7vqiOk
    Watching now 🙂

I swear you are just making me buy cremesheen glasses from MAC, Karen! :p There aren’t many shades that caught my eyes when I was in store… but they always look so good on you, and then I have to go check them out!!

I love your MAC unsung heroes posts! They gave me so many ideas about what to check out in MAC! Sometimes it gets really overwhelming with all their products!

      Hi Angel,

I know what you mean. I’m the same way! I get so distracted by the colors, then I end up chatting with the artists and other shoppers in the store…next thing you know I’ve forgotten why I went in the first place! 😀

Do you live near a store or a counter? I used to live 10 minutes away from one, but the store closed. WAH!

        Hi Karen,

Haha I have never chatted with other shoppers in store! The MAC i go to isn’t very busy! Right now I live pretty close to a MAC store, but I’m moving soon and I have no idea where… so I really hope there’s a MAC store near wherever I’m going to be! Maybe I should include that as a requirement of where I am going to live…

I hate this uncertainty of graduating and not knowing where I am going next!

I always end up talking to random people in stores. I once asked a gal in a shoe store whether the boots I was trying on were too “Pirates of the Caribbean,” haha! Another time I helped a some random guy at the MAC counter pick out a tinted moisturizer and concealer…yup, I’m that chatty stranger!

I know what you mean about being uncomfortable with the uncertainty after graduation. It’s okay to not know what you want to do yet; it’s normal. It took me a really long time to figure things out. That time is very exciting and challenging, and you’ll do a lot of exploring and growing.

Wow, I didn’t expect Right Image to look like that on judging from the swatch. It’s such a pretty shade <3.

      Hi Dani,

It’s one of those subtle, but lovely pinks. 🙂 Did you pick up any of the blushes from Tres Cheek? It would go quite well with Lovecloud!

I’m really picky about my glosses. They can’t be too sticky, shimmery or pigmented. I like them to look like my lips, but better and with a glossy finish. =)

      Hi Joyce,

      Which glosses are your faves?

Thanks for the review Karen! The only bright pink lipgloss I have right now is MAC Viva Glam Gaga I. I find it pools in my lip lines though. :l

Wow, this color looks so pretty! Recently I’ve been using Fashion Scoop, which is a much lighter cremesheen pink. I love the MAC Cremesheens though- smell delicious, not sticky and very moisturizing!

I never thought of curling the lower lashes! I see it for the first time actually. Also watched the other MAC video about contouring yesterday and liked it as well.
