$10 Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black Will Put the Wind Beneath Your Winged Liner and Keep It There for Hours

That’s Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black ($9.99) on my upper lash lines

Easy to control and totally legit, Maybelline’s $9.99 Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black makes quick work of cat eye flicks (meow!), and it stands up to perspiration like Tabs stands up for gravy!

Plus, once it’s on, it doesn’t budge for nothin’.

  • Oil-free formula holds highly concentrated pigments in a clear gel base
  • Smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours
  • Safe for sensitive eyes

Pretty dark, but not as dark as my current black gel liner love, Black Valley Eye Paint by NARS, Blackest Black looks closer to a charcoal black than a black cat/midnight black to me.

I think darker would be better here…but it’s no big whoop, as Blackest Black is only $10 (versus $25 for NARS Black Valley).

The formula is designed to last a full 24 hours, which is kind of inconvenient to test… I’ve worn it about 10 times already, usually from morning till night or late afternoon, and I’ve never even seen it begin to give up the ghost. I have to physically remove it every time.

Blackest black does come with a brush, but I’ve, um, already repurposed it for lips, because when I tried using it as designed on my eyes, I ended up with a jagged, uneven hot mess.

Seriously, I was doing that thing where you keep thickening one eye, and then the other, and then the other again, because the other eye looks wonky, LOL! It was like that how-to meme where you start off with cat eyes and end up looking like a panda.

Yeah… Not a good look. 🙂

Save yourself the time and trouble, and grab an angled brush instead. My go-to these days has been the NARS #47 Angled Eyeliner Brush, which lays down crisp, clean lines with smooth edges.

Blackest Black is available now at drugstores, Ulta stores and also online.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I have a pot of this in my backup drawer! Once my Bobbi Brown Black Ink retires, I’m cracking it open!

I use this everyday, I love it! It’s the best one out of the four colors they make! The brush can also be use to cover small pimples.

Haha, me too! 😀 I actually meant to get the black, but I was in a rush and didn’t really look closely at the label, LOL! Mind you, the black is almost always out of stock around here. Still, I love the charcoal, and I think it’s really great that it comes with a brush – I find the brush works really well for me!

I love this in plum. I don’t actually own that one right now, but it’s a lovely color.

I’ve never tried the Maybelline gel liners but the L’oreal Infallible is pretty awesome

YES! Love that you reviewed this — can you review the new Miss Manga mascara? Our eyelashes are similar. 🙂

I have this liner. I use this one and MAC blacktrack. Neither one stand up to my daily routine of sweat while biking and splashing water on my face to refresh when I get to my destination. Maybe I sweat a lot more than you, or maybe it’s my sunscreen. But I end up with just the tiniest bit between my lashes.

I don’t want to really give up my glam for summer (haha)… but I might have to. What’s your toughest, most long lasting eyeliner?

I hate to do this, but I disagree. I have this and it is my last resort eye liner. I will use this if I have NO other product available to do my eyeliner with. I have tried to give it a chance, but every time I wear it, it migrates and smears all over the place. It doesn’t matter if I wear eyeshadow/primer or not, this will always smear. Sad. I’m not even a fan of MAC Blacktrack Fluidline. I only use Mac’s Dipdown for my brows and just recently discovered a drugstore dupe (Rimmel gel liner) for about $6 bucks! I highly recommend that one now!

Yeah, I’ve used this in the past & gotta admit that I love it. I never finish the whole thing bc it dries up before I get to the bottom of the pot. It does provide a wonderful amount of product, though. Good review!
