Drawing the Human Body, Literally, With the New Make Up For Ever Aqua Matic Pencils

May 29th, 2014 by Karen 14 Comments

Make Up For Ever Aqua Matic
The new Make Up For Ever Aqua Matics, $21 each

I think I’m going to start calling makeup shopping “art supply shopping.” That way, when I get something new and sneak it into the house in my XXL purse (NOTE: this is a good way to avoid the, “Do you really need another pink gloss?” convo with El Hub), I won’t exactly be fibbing, since pencil-shaped makeup really is a thing these days. 🙂

I be back soon, hun! Gotta stock up on mah art supplies…

Case in point: the new Make Up For Ever Aqua Matic twist-up eyeshadow pencils ($21 each), which look equally at home on a makeup vanity or an easel.

Time to draw!

And if El Hub asks what I’m doing, I’ll just say that I’ve taken up drawing (…on my face, haha!).

These long-wearing creamy shadows can be used as eyeshadows or as eyeshadow bases, and they’re supposed to be smudge-proof, waterproof, creamy and creaseless and stay that way all day long without fading.

“This eye shadow pencil glides on and stays put. The unbelievably blendable texture includes silica, so it applies effortlessly onto the eyelid and won’t transfer. This highly-pigmented, waterproof, smudge-free shadow delivers immediate, intense color payoff. A retractable twist-up mechanism allows for quick and mistake-free application, and a sharpener makes it convenient to take this product to go for touchups.”

Currently there are 10 shades…

Surprise! — I’m totally feeling Satiny Warm Brown S-60 and Metallic Golden Taupe ME-50. You know how I am about my everyday neutrals. 🙂

I also like that MUFE included some brighter options for gals and guys who like wearing color. I see a ton of possible color combinations with Iridescent Turquoise I-20 and Iridescent Pop Purple I-90.

I haven’t tried these on my lids yet, but from the swatches, they look and feel like Laura Mercier’s fabulous Caviar Stick Eye Colours.

Major potential here!

Oh, and because I’m easily amused (as you know), I wanted to share — while I was at Sephora, I sprayed a little of the new limited edition version of Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue, Escape to Panarea, which for some reason I keep thinking is called, “Escape to Panera,” as in the casual dining chain.

Get it? 🙂

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I love, LOVE Light Blue. I wore it on my wedding day, so it holds a special place in my heart.

This newer version seems deeper and muskier, with warm vanilla notes that I don’t really get from the original.

It’s different — almost like something I’d be inclined to wear in the cooler months, whereas the O.G. Light Blue seems like a true summer scent to me.

If you love warm vanillas, give it a sniff.

Anywho, now I must “Escape to Panera!” Just kidding. 🙂 Hope you had a good Thursday.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

It would have base notes of wheat bread, middle notes of pastries and top notes of bacon, haha!

This are fabulous, but be advised — you need *heavy duty* makeup remover to get this stuff off. i tried using the remover at sephora and it didn’t even make a dent! these colors are indelible!

Thanks for the 411, Alix. I’ll keep my MAC Cleanse Off Oil nearby when I give these a go. 🙂

Btw, did you end up grabbing any of the colors?

That shimmery golden taupe is calling my name! So pretty! I wore Light Blue for years too, but for the last 6 months I’ve been wearing DG’s Desire, which to me smells like the evening/darker version. It’s still a lot of jasmine (my fave!), but kind of deeper and warmer, if that makes sense. Love it! 🙂
