Sailors With Brown, Green and Hazel Eyes May Want to Enlist in This Navy: LORAC Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner in Navy

October 30th, 2014 by Karen 22 Comments

LORAC Front of the Line Pro Navy
Meow, cat eyeliner! Wearing the new LORAC Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner in Navy, $23

If LORAC had a Navy (they do), and it was recruiting (they are), I’d tell the ladies in charge that this sailor is going to need a steady supply of Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner if you want her to sign up.

Because I am not about to get stuck at sea without the proper tools to do cat eyes.

Huh-uh.

I’d also add that I absolutely, positively don’t do boats.

Sorry. Just one of my stipulations. 🙂

Ulgh, all the bobbing up and down… Makes me a little nauseous, which is kind of funny, seeing as how I come from Navy stock (my dad was in the service), and I love the ocean.

Weird.

New LORAC Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner in dark blue Navy ($23) is the latest shade in the brand’s fabulous line of liquid liners.

I’ve been a fan of the original black version for years. I like it because it’s relatively inexpensive, I can get really crisp lines with it, and the long, flexible tip makes it easy to draw those little flicks at the ends of my cat eyeliner.

A dark bluish black (no green in it), Navy has a gorgeous satiny finish that loves lash lines, and it’s strong as iron! It easily lasts all day.

I think it really does a lot for brown, green and hazel eyes (and other eye colors too).

The tube I’ve been using, though, might be a little wonky, and I’m actually hoping it’s a manufacturing error. For reasons unknown, this particular pen is nowhere near as easy to wield as the other Front of the Lines I’ve used, and I’ve gone through three or four of them over the past few years.

LORAC Front of the Line Pro Navy

It’s because of the tip. The one on this pen has more give than I’m used to, so it’s less firm, softer, and it makes drawing the flicks on my cat eyes more difficult.

Something might also be going on with the ink, as it flows out from the felt tip inconsistently. I really have to shake the pen to coax it forth. (I mean seriously put my back into it. I look like I’m making margaritas.)

I’m a tad bewildered.

Could this be a faulty pen? I wonder… If you’ve tried this shade and had any issues, let me know.

Big ups for the color and wear, but this one isn’t easy to use, and it’s bumming me out, man.

PRICE: $23
AVAILABILITY: Permanent, and available now online and at LORAC counters
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B- (assuming my issues with the product aren’t isolated to this particular pen)

Karen

The color is beautiful! Although my favorite blue eyeliner is still Laura Mercier’s Cobalt!

I like the shade but hearing about that tip is a real bummer. I’ve been considering getting a navy liner 🙁

This reminds me of a darker version of RBR Blue Roan! So sorry to hear it doesn’t work all that well. I can see the tip of this one is slightly bent, and that really shouldn’t be the case.

      Hey Sunny,

I like that liner too. It’s the one with the sparkles, right?

      Anywho, happy Friday!

Hey Karen, I think you’re referring to Tanzanite Essence Quartz Eyeliner. Blue Roan is a felt-tip liner that has no glitter 🙂

        Happy Friday! xx

Ahh, yes. I have one that is sparkly but I can never remember the name! Thank you for reminding me (*makes mental makeup note*).

I had similar issues with a Stila liquid liner. I heard soooo many good things about it, so I picked up their navy shade and the pen was so wonky I returned it. The poor SA at the counter was bewildered by someone actually returning one! I do love the idea of a navy liner and will consider Lorac’s in hopes yours was a defective tube. I have NARS Ubangi Eye Paint (so gorgeous), but sometimes, on rare occasion, a girl wants to go without sparkle.

Happy Halloween, by the way! What are your little ones dressing up as this year?

Hey, Happy Friday and Happy Halloween AND thanks for helping me to start my day by mentally singing some Village People (In the Navy)! 🙂

I hope that’s a faulty pen because Front of Line has been such a favorite of yours. I would hate to hear that their quality has dropped.

Bummer about the seasickness. I’ve never had that problem but I can’t remember if I’ve ever been out of sight of shore so I don’t know how I’d be. Plus as I get older (and after having the kids), I’m occasionally a bit more sensitive to motion. 🙁

Any day you can sneak in a Village People reference is a GREAT DAY!

You’re so lucky to not get seasickness. The only time I can get on a boat without getting sick is if I’m seriously medicated! See, this is why I don’t do cruise ships.

Anyway, back to makeup. Are you still using Front of the Line Pro? They also have a lovely new charcoal shade that looks very pretty.

Agreed on the Village People! 🙂

I’ve never been on a cruise either so maybe I would feel sick, too. That would be a terrible time to find out!

I only have FOTL Pro in black so I don’t use it often. It’s tough to get old. I wore a lot more black liner when I was young and I wish I had been more makeup savvy then because I do actually like the formula a lot. Now, softer looks are much more flattering on me. 🙂

      Hi Martha,

Thanks! It’s temporary color so it should fade in a couple shampoos. 🙂

How is Mischief doing today? Is she dressing up for Halloween?

I love navy liners! This looks like a great one to try. I wish the tip was a little more firm though. I tend to stick to gels because some applicators are a little tricky to use
