Ditto here about larger calves & tall boots. Try the wide-shaft ones. Although I find the mid-height boots are more fun and less effort (work) to wear!

I realized this winter that I desperately need a good pair of winter boots! Waterproof, warm and tall enough to handle the 4 foot snow drifts that plague my neck of the woods. All my previous concerns about having “cute” footwear were dashed when I realized university would require a long hike from home to the bus, long, looooong walks across a giant campus, and another long hike (that somehow seems 4 km longer) from the bus to home. Ugly lined boots, here I come!
Underwear , why rainy season , less easy to wash and also the pups destroyed a few I had, and some were a wrong fit. So yea I needed underwear.

We got a lot of snow on Wednesday. The lights kept flickering so I decided to cook the turkey right away. Good thing, since our power was out on Thanksgiving day from 2AM until 7PM. My brother and his family came down to NH from their ski weekend in VT. We used the grill to heat up Buffalo chicken dip, dressing, gravy, and turkey slices so everyone had a choice of hot or cold turkey sandwiches. We used the snow to keep the beers cold, and lit lots of candles and had plenty of fleece to keep everyone warm. It ended up being a really fun time. My son thought it was the best Thanksgiving he ever had.
I had cake for breakfast today. But, it was pumpkin cake. Pumpkin is a gourd, which is a vegetable. Ipso facto, I had vegetables for breakfast, so all is good and right with the world.

I really like gel manicures. They last at least a couple of weeks for me.
I love using the formula x base coat to extend my manicure. The base coat is very sticky so the nail polish adheres very well to it. I never thought base coat would make such a huge difference but it does!

I recently bought a greyish transparent nail polish with glitter and if I put that on top of the colored polish, it makes it last longer.
Far be it from me to turn down bedazzled ANYTHING (it don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got that bling) but as much as it pains me I have to say NO to bedazzled eyebrows.
I don’t think I need one piece of clothing in particular, but just more winter clothes overall. Sweaters, sweaters, and more sweaters! Oh and boots too 🙂 I recently moved from a warmer climate to a colder one so I’m still adding to my winter wardrobe.

It snowed here for the first time! The rain turned into sleet, then into snow the next day.
I desperately needed a new down winter coat. I purchased one at Eddie Bauer and I love it so far! It’s keeping me warm here in chilly Wisconsin. We’ve had a colder than normal November, yuck!
I recently rejoiced to discover fleece lined flannel, it’s my new second layer in the battle of the 10F cold.

One way to make a manicure last longer: pick up a buffing block and use it like the manicurist does in between sessions.
I do this at home (no pro manicure sessions in a long time) and I can get polish to last about a week on average.
I make my manicure last longer by using a sticky base coat and Seche Vite as the top coat.

I want to start wearing mascara on my bottom lashes, but it’s always been difficult for me. My bottom lashes are pretty sparse. What should I do? Or should I just stick with wearing mascara on my top lashes as I always have?

I used to wrap the tip of my fingernail to make the manicure last a little bit longer. A nice layer of topcoat I think really helps too.
I recently discovered that I do not own a single piece of flannel! I live in the south, so you would think this would be a necessity for me. I love the way flannel tops look & how they can be dressed up or down. Hopefully I will have a variety of flannel tops in my closet, sooner rather than later!
The only way I can get a manicure to last is to get gel polish.. I am hard on my nails.

I make my manucure last longer either by using the Sèche vite top coat, or the Poshé one (when the Sèche vite’s odor is starting to remind me of how bad the ingredients are…).
I find nail prep the best for a great long lasting manicure. That and sealing up the tip edge of the nail.

I love flannel shirts. In fact, just this weekend my 18 year old came to my room and asked if I could have the clothes she had in her arms. They were my clothes I had forgotten all about and one shirt was a flannel plaid from Eddie Bauer from yyeeesassrrrsss ago!!! I put it on and oh it felt so good. I did not want to give it to her (I know that’s so selfish) but I did because I had forgotten all about it.

My Favorite hair salon now is Aveda in Manhattan…its the school where the students are doing the cuts. I always request a graduating student which is more $ but its still a lot less than a Aveda salon and I do like people who work there and the color they use.
i am down for bedazzled anything… so i would try brows. i actually have been dying to do a crazy glitter brow!!
I don’t know about eyebrows, but I have used eyelash glue to glue sequins to my face in the eye corner/cheek area. Rhinestoned nails, perhaps.
Well I haven’t entered in one of these giveaways because of school for some time but I feel lucky.

flannel shirts are a yes (well, most of the time). i’m a comfy casual kinda gal.
I was never into Wearing scarves. I know, that sounds wierd, but I really hated the feeling of a scarf around my neck.
But a few weeks ago I hat to buy one because the one I saw was so pretty. Since then I’m obsessed with scarves.
To make my manicure last longer, I apply a good base and top coat! I think they’re both equally important, good ones make even cheapie polishes last a while with minimal wear. I like Essie Grow Stronger, OPI Nail Envy, and Essie Millionails. For top coats there are tons but right now I’m loving Bareille UV Glaze top coat. 🙂

Flannel shirts: a big NO, since it’s summer where I live.
The boys had hockey in Lake Placid on Friday and it was snowing and very Christmassy. We even got a bit of holiday shopping done. Sadly, things warmed up here at home yesterday and now it’s just sort of chilly, damp and snow-free. It’s hard for me to get into the holiday spirit when there is no snow. 🙁

I needed new thermals for winter!
Until I can master my eyebrows more, I would feel that bedazzling them–and therefore drawing even more attention to them–would be a mistake for me. I’m not against others doing so, but it seems more of a celebrity or party thing, and definitely not an everyday thing.
I just realized that I need to buy blue polo shirts. Lame! I am doing my clinical rotations for grad school and they want me to wear polo shirts and black dress pants. I am so sad because my first site was scrubs(work pajamas) and sneakers. I know it sounds like I am being a big baby but if I am to do 40 hours a week of free work I’d like to do it in navy scrubs and asics.
How I make my manicure last longer? Butter London TopCoat. Love it! 🙂

my manicure trick? after cleaning my hands, i let my nails dry for another 10+ minutes (to let the water absorption evaporate from the nails). before i apply my base coat, i wipe down my nails with alcohol.
it seems to make the polish chip less. i haven’t had a manicure last a long long time because i do a lot of house chores without gloves. but i might get on that gel manicure hype, if i want a pretty manicure to last 🙂

Flannel shirts; in theory yes but I have a hard time with button up shirts in general because I’m busty.
My favorite hair salon is a local Aveda one. I’ve been using Aveda products for years, never use anything else for styling, and I just love that their staff regularly does training and is always looking to expand their knowledge. Plus it smells SO GOOD! 😉

Statement brows? I just mastered using my anastasia brow wiz! Kudos to the ladies that are fierce enough to rock them, though!
I could never get my manicures to last more than 3 days and then on one of the other blogs I follow, it was suggested to try the Revlon Color Stay base coat and that has worked wonders for me!

I think bedazzled eyebrows are a little out there, they remind me of eyebrow piercings which I don’t like.
I desperately need more maxi length skirts, ankle boots and fleece lined leggings because I hate wearing opaque tights in the winter.
I hope you’re a big fan of The Walking Dead because the mid-season finale was intense & tragic.
With the sudden cold I realized I definitely need more sweaters and leggings/tights! It went from 65F (which is nice and cool since it’s usually so hot here), to the 40s-30s in one afternoon.
I’ve found that when I’ve used Gelous to help smooth out glitter heavy manis, the manicure wears like IRON. Would definitely recommend.
