No, these are not nuclear powered… It’s not that kind of fusion. These are Make Up For Ever’s brand-spankin’-new bronzers.

The Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion Bronzers

So…if they aren’t nuclear powered, what the heck are they? They’re a new line of six $36 bronzers — three matte and three iridescent — available now in MUFE’s permanent collection, and released in tandem with a new #136 Pro Bronze Kabuki Brush ($30) you can use to apply them. The wave pattern on the pans is there to help the brush pick up the product.

MUFE calls their fancy formula a “waterproof gel-powder,” which is basically an incredibly fine, sheer, luminous powder (the fusion of a gel and a powder, so to speak) designed to bronze and look natural. Even though they aren’t, in fact, gels, they feel almost like it because of how soft they are. Wear time seems also comparable to other bronzers. About six or seven hours.

Are they any good? They remind me of the MAC Studio Sculpt Bronzers from Wash & Dry (but I actually think these MUFE bronzers are better). You can’t even see any of the powder grains being lifted from the pans when you run your finger or a brush across them. The grains are so incredibly fine that they’re almost imperceptible, so you get depth from the bronze color without the familiar look and feel of a traditional powder.

For me, the best way to apply them has been with a dense face brush, like the kabuki brush that launched with the line.

I tried applying them with a fluffy powder brush once, and it just wouldn’t pick up enough product. I was like, “What the what?!”

But then I tried a kabuki brush and it was magical. Lots of toasty bronze color, but without the look of a powder texture that most makeup lovers are used to. It’s a very distinct look that might be almost too natural, depending on your personal taste.

So they’re just…different.

I recommend them for all-over bronzing more than for contouring, I would say, and only if you have a kabuki brush. If you use anything else, you might be disappointed.

For a very controlled J. Lo-like golden bronze, assuming you also have a kabuki brush, give ’em a try, but get it from someplace that has a good return policy (like Sephora), just in case.

All six shades and the brush are available now online and at Make Up For Ever counters and Sephora.

These actually sound like something I would like. I am not always wanting to go full on with my bronzers.

I like the idea of these being hard to overdo on my fair skin. I still have a ways to go on my NARS Laguna, but once I finish it I think I’ll give these a shot.

These don’t exactly suit my fancy bc they seem too sheer, if that makes sense. Not that I want that in your face, to die for Iman/Naomi Campbell cat walk bronzed look (ok, sometimes I do). Saving my pennies for the day MUFE releases an all matte neutral palette. Just tell your people to get with my people so we can make this happen. 🙂

I really like the look of the bronzers. I actually prefer my bronzer to be sheerer so I can control how much I apply and not over do it. I wanted to pick up a shade but It’s so hard to pick a shade online so I’ll probably have to go to a store to swatch them. 35l looks like a good shade for my medium skin tone or I might go even a shade up and get the darkest one.

No such thing as too natural. These sound super neat, though.

These are so pretty and glowy without the disco ball shine.

I can see what you mean about the pigmentation through the swatches. They seem sheer but buildable which is nice. Lately, I’ve been on the lookout for an actual bronzer (not a highlight or contour powder) and it’s pretty hard when you’re dark skin. I’m hoping one of these will work well for me

A powder with imperceptible texture? I like that! Especially for a bronzer – I don’t anything looks less flattering than a bronzer that’s too obvious. I’ll definitely check them out!

I saw these at Sephora yesterday and I really liked the #15l but I think they are a little too expensive. I have been looking for a nice new shimmery bronzers but I can’t seem to find a perfect one.

I like makeup forever almost as much as MAC. I bought a Sonia Kashuk concealer at target the other day and I was trying to figure out if it was any cheaper than my MUFE one and based on how much you get in each package I actually think MUFE is the better deal! So much for drugstores being less spendy!

Ooh! These remind me of the MAC In Extra Dimension bronzers that launched with Alluring Aquatic. I LOVE Delphic and just picked up a pan of Chanel’s Lumiere D’Ete, because they’re pretty similar… I wonder if MUFE’s are, too.

I’m not super familiar with MUFE products. What does the “L” and the “M” after the numbers refer to? I think 20 or 25 would work well for me. The Ms look a bit more orangey. I definitely like the idea of a more natural looking bronzer that is buildable. Speaking of which, can we talk about how much I miss NARS “sertao”. I will never understand why they discontinued that. That was HG product for me

I’m trying to replace my Mac prolongwear bronzer since it’s almost gone 🙁 and I only used that for all over bronzing, no contouring for me. Does anyone think these would be a suitable replacement? It needs to be one of the shimmer ones, since the prolongwear wasn’t a flat matte. Thanks!

The formula looks to be really nice indeed! For some reason, by looking at them, they remind me of the aquatic allure bronzer in the non-sparkly extra dimension formula. Not sure if they are anything like it though.

What I am sure is that they might be addictive if they look so natural on the skin! Dammit! Why do I have to live a plane trip away from a make up store stand!! (and why sephora in my country does not have an online store!?!)

Hey Karen! I’m looking for a nice bronzer for my graduation in a month. I’ve never really used a bronzer before but you made it sound awesome!
This one from MUFE looks really good, but do you know how it is compared to Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil? Ugh the struggle is real.
    Thanks! <3
