Rise and shine, pal o’ mine! Happy Caturday. 🙂 I hope you slept well. I’m still working my way through the NARS Holiday 2016 Collection LE palettes, and the one I’m looking at this morning is the $69 Give In Take Dual-Intensity Eye and Cheek Palette (coming to Sephora Nov. 1st).
Whether you’re warm-toned, cool-toned, Hypercolor-toned or scaly-toned like an alien lizard, you can wear the new $69 NARS Give In Take Dual-Intensity Eye and Cheek Palette, another one of the several palettes in the Sarah Moon for NARS Holiday 2016 Collection.
If I were a humanoid reptile, I’d wear it…but I’m getting sidetracked. Bottom line: You can wear cool-toned shades like these even if you aren’t cool-toned. That’s my personal belief. These shades are very cool-toned — cooler than I expected them to be — but that can be a good thing, even if you’re a warm-toned person like me.
These powders, which are all in the NARS Dual-Intensity formula, don’t have a problem with fallout, and they’re delightfully easy to blend.
They look super pigmented in their pans, and a few of them look very dark, but applied dry they look pretty natural.
That’s the thing about the NARS Dual-Intensity formula. You can wear them wet or dry, but if you apply them with a dry brush, they look quite Bobbi Brown-esque, whereas applied with a wet brush, you get more of that NARS glam.
If you don’t have many wrinkles and fine lines, you might not think about this, but I’ve got some fine lines, and one of the reasons I like the Dual Intensities is that they don’t make my fine lines look…more fine line-y. I feel like I look a little younger and less haggard when I wear them.
I think the blushes are great, too. They aren’t super BAM! like the darker standalone blushes in the Sarah Moon collection.

SHOULD YOU GET IT? If you like cool-toned eyeshadows and the NARS Dual-Intensity formula and you DON’T like fallout, I bet you’ll love this palette. Also, if you have any fine line action and don’t like it when your eyeshadow looks heavy, give it a try.
In other news…you wanna know something weird? I was watching a good movie on TV last night called The Ones Below. It’s a suspenseful drama about these two couples who live in the same two-story apartment building. The main character has a baby, and the other woman in the other couple also has a baby, but anyway… I don’t want to give too much away (seriously, it’s good!). Needless to say, something scary happens involving the babies, and it was just too much for me. It was a good movie (it even stars the Governor from The Walking Dead!), but I had to turn it off.
El Hub didn’t believe me at first, but then I was like, “No, really. I don’t think I can watch this.” So we turned it off.
I’m emo now when it comes to anything having to do with babies and pregnancy. I even get hospital flashbacks.
Am I just weird? Does that ever happen to anyone else?

Girl. I’m the same way with babies in entertainment. We were watching Under the Skin since you know I’m all about the scifi. Oh my god. I never cry around other people when watching TV/movies, I just can’t. But this had me in tears telling the husband we had to turn it off. I don’t think I’ve ever had to do that when watching something with him. I get really tense wherever babies come up in GoT. I’ve had to stop reading books as well. Oh and that bit in Snowpiercer. Good grief. There should be an online database somewhere we could check first.
And the textures look great on those shadows! I feel like something really shiny might look okay in person but really doesn’t photograph well for me these days.
Mmmm, cool neutrals. This is one of two palettes that I want for the holiday season. Love the dual intensity formula so much.
I couldn’t even get through that trailer without freaking out, so I have no idea how you managed to watch even part of the movie. Yes, I was so incredibly emo after my baby girl was born. It was the first time I understood mother bears mauling and killing anyone that got too close to their offspring. I swear I felt like that sometimes. Thankfully, it eased up after time and I was able to encourage my girl to go out in the world and be intrepid.

Oh my-this palette looks beautiful. I’m super warm toned but I looooovvveee cool toned eyeshadows, especially on the neutral end of the spectrum… it’s like it was made for me!!

Cool-toned neutrals suit you so well, Karen. I think warm tones look better on me, but I still wear some greys and cool browns to switch things up from time to time.

I love these colors! And I love the dual-intensity formula. This one is going on my wish list for sure.
Nothing wrong with being emotional! Sometimes even the suspense in books gets to me — even when I know the character is going to survive whatever current danger faces them! Much better to be sensitive than to be dulled and inured to things.
They certainly pull cool on you! I’ve seen other swatches and they look more neutral. I love this one for traveling though. If I hadn’t just gotten the cheek palette I’d be on it!
I like how the design in the pans is off-center. And, not a chance I’d be wearing that outfit. HAHA!
I think it’s perfectly normal for you to feel that way. Anything relating to kids will remind you of your own and, if you’re imaginative, can be very upsetting. I’ve had many “what if that was happening to my boys?” moments over the years. Not that I’m your paradigm of normalcy, but I’m not an overly doting, anxious parent either. There are definitely things that I’ve had to stop watching/reading that probably would not have affected me the same way before I had kids.
