The Lust List, Vol. 2: Stuff That I Kinda Want

March 28th, 2017 by Karen 39 Comments

Imagine the damage we could do if we won a sweepstakes and had to fill a gigantic, Costco-sized shopping cart with beauty products.

Just imagine… Let that stew for a second.

Meanwhile, here are some things on my latest lust list…

  1. Chanel Le Stylo Yeux Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 88 Noir Intense ($33).

Technically, I’m going to call this one a “need,” instead of a “want,” because I tightline every day, yo! It’s a way of life. And I just ran out of this pencil.

    THE HORROR!

I’m not kidding, every single time I finish one of these pencils I’m shocked, like, what? Another one?! Don’t ask me why I don’t always have a backup.

    Well…it’s because of the price.

  2. Also, AHHH! I’m wanting this Viseart 01 Neutral Matte Eyeshadow Palette so hard.

I’m new to the Viseart brand, but I’ve heard so many great things about it. Every single time I walk by this $80 palette, I’m like, “Shield your eyes, Karen! Walk faster! Look away!” because I’m the last person in the world who needs another matte brown eyeshadow in her life…but yet I STILL WANT IT SO BADLY YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW.

  3. There’s also a Viseart Blush Palette in 2 Rose Coral (also $80) calling my name.

  4. Speaking of brown eyeshadow, this Chantecaille 3 Mermaid Eye Matte trio ($95…OMG!) has three lovely-looking matte cream shadows.

Can we just… “AHHHH!” And the clouds parted…

It has a deep neutral brown that looks like it urgently needs to be on my lids as soon as humanly possible, a soft creamy vanilla and a soft smoky gray.

    WANTS.

  5. So, I’ve actually never smelled Acqua Di Parma Rosa Nobile Eau De Parfum ($130), but it reminds me of the hotel I stayed at when I visited Milan a few years ago. They had Acqua Di Parma bath products, and they smelled so, so good. (Yes, I “borrowed” the soap, girl, and brought it home. I’m that person.)

I also want it because it’s pink. ?

  6. When I got my hair colored a couple weeks ago, the salon had R+Co products, so my stylist friend Alis hooked me up with some samples. She gave me this huge tub — like a big salsa container, HAHA! — of High Dive Moisture + Shine Cream, and when I’m done with it, I’m gonna spring for the full-size $27 tube, because it’s really lovely!

Basically, it’s a smoothing leave-in conditioner that moisturizes and adds shine, but it doesn’t make your hair look greasy or feel weighed down. And it smells AMAZEBALLS, kinda like Bobbi Brown Beach perfume, but without the notes of sunscreen.

I swear, R+Co products…if they sold their scents as eau de parfums, I’d be all over that.

Anywho, I also have a sample size of their Death Valley Dry Shampoo Spray, and holy wow! — it’s great too. Now I also want a $29 full-size bottle of that. It’s one of those dry shampoo sprays with a powder so fine that you don’t even see it on your roots, even if you have dark hair, and it doesn’t make my scalp itch. No greasy roots, either.

  7. And yeah, I’m still on that Smith + Cult train. Now, I think I need their Basis of Everything Base Coat ($18) and Above It All Top Coat ($18), partly because I want to try them, and partly because I keep having this vision of a shelf in my office dedicated to my Smith & Cult polishes, and I want to make that dream a reality.

How about you? What’s on your latest lust list? Whatchu got at the very, very top?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I just ordered those Chantecaille shadows. The grey especially is just what I’ve been looking for ?

I can possibly disable you on the Viseart blush. I have a couple of the blush palettes and they’re soooooo chalky and patchy ?

      Hey PJ,

AHHH! I hope the gray is EVERYTHING. I want, I want!

Thank you for letting me know about the blush palette. Have you tried the eyeshadows?

Karen, I have!!! The eyeshadows I wholeheartedly recommend- they are top notch. It’s the only formula my oily lids can do without primer, too ?

@Karen, I have! I have all the FS shadow palettes they make. The neutral matte one is gorgeous. I think my favourite is between Sultry Muse (coppers!) and the new Warm Mattes.

I think you would love Neutral Mattes

I think I’ll love Neutral Mattes, too, and I suspect I’ll cave next time I visit Sephora (I have to go because I need to exchange the Airbrush Foundation I bought a couple weeks ago). When your cream shadows arrive you’ll have to tell me all about them.

That Neutral Matte palette is my single best makeup ever! And I am not even exaggerating. I am Nw20, blonde with green eyes. These wear better than any other formula I have tried. I can also use this for brows and eyeliner and have seen a Youtuber use it to contour. I have 2 other Viseart palettes I really like but the Neutral Matte is a must-have for me

    currently on my lust list:

    1. by terry hyaluronic hydra powder, I love my chanel loose powder (thanks for the recommendation karen!) but it can sometimes cling to the dry patches on my face. I’ve heard that the by terry is supposed to be amazing for dry skin

    2. chantecaille just skin tinted moisturizer: I’ve wanted this for so long but I haven’t bit the bullet and purchased it yet… perhaps this year will be the year lol

    3. mac extra dimension skinfinish in superb – cannot wait for this to be re-released! I know that it’s permanent so I don’t have to rush out and buy it but I’m already too hyped up to wait

    4. dior rosy glow blush – I know I’m extremely late to the party on this one but it’s been on my mind these last couple of weeks. But I still need to swatch it next to some other blushes that I own

I own most of the Viseart eye shadow palettes and love them so much. I like the dark matte palette more than the neutral one. But they all are bomb! I really like the Coral/Rose blush palette too. Aqua Di Parma Nobile perfume is a good scent for spring. I had a few samples and liked it too. I tried one of those Chanel eye liners a purple/brown and it didn’t last on my eyes at all. I ended up returning it. They get love from so many people though, I might give them another shot.

      Hi Denise,

I think the Chanel liner depends on the color. Some of them are just eh, but the black one, 88 Noir Intense, is amazeballs.

Do you have a fave Viseart palette? Which one is your ride or die?

Viseart Dark Mattes, Ribbons Boheme, Bridal Satin and Paris Nudes are my favorites. I can’t narrow down to just one, lol.

I just saw a new color enhancing hair mask on Ulta.com by Orlando Pita Play I need to try! I’m also wanting some more fun highlighters – maybe something in a unicorn color. I was looking at the Kat Von D Alchemist palette. I just ordered a Stila Convertible Color in Peony because I wanted a new cream blush. There’s a new Kat Von D setting spray I’m curious about.

Yay! Glad you thought of me!

There’s so much unicorn stuff! I have a Makeup Revolution highlighter that kind of gets at that feel – the pearlescent, almost lavender color. It’s so pretty! I’m not sure if the really lavender-y colors suit my complexion though. Actually, I’m pretty sure they don’t, being all freckled and warm-toned and all! But I love the look.

Rosa Nobile has been on my list for ages, and I’ve never smelled it, either! What’s with that?

Lusting over a bottle of Chanel Gardenia perfume, a backup of Codes Subtils, and some of that goopy Dior nail creme. But right at the tippy-top of the list was a bottle of the Oribe Apres Beach spray and that, lady, is winging its way to me as of this afternoon. So excited!

    Love your list!

      Hi Shin,

How funny!? Honestly I think it’s the pink… It sucks you in! Next time I go to Blue Mercury I’m going to get a sample.

I’ve tried Oribe Apres Beach and it’s DIVINE. Seriously if you get the chance try R+Co Death Valley, too! Smells amazing and it does a great job.

Viseart neutral matte palette is one awesome palette. Now, I want their new warm neutrals palette. And among other so many things that I want are Tom Ford’s newly realised Cream and Powder Eyeshadow stacks, especially Young Adonis ?

I love the Viseart eye palettes I have. The lighter shimmers are a bit sheer, but I tend to like sheer colors. I have to admit I own one Smith & Cult polish and want more, but I think I need to downsize my collection first.
Sort of wanting two perfumes right now, but both are $$$$ so I’m holding off. Armani Pierre de Lune and the new Tom Ford Sole di Positano. Going to wait until I know what’s up with Dear Husband’s job.

Just sniffed the Tom Ford yesterday. I don’t usually like summery scents and I love this one. It’s sunny and warm, a bit floral, a bit sexy, beautiful but not over powering the way some summer florals can be. Need to go back to Neiman’s and get a sample to try, to see if Dear Husband also likes it. My SA sprayed it on a card for me and I sprayed just a tiny bit on the back of my hand. Loved it, but it washed off when I kept washing my hands while making dinner.

The thing at the top of my list is the Nurse Jamie Uplift Facial Massaging Beauty face wand. http://nursejamie.com/instant-uplift-facial-fiming-beauty-tool

I know it seems a little out there in terms of skincare woo-woo. Skin care is the only thing I play around with. I love makeup and fashion but I’m pretty consistent and all about low-maintenance when it comes to those things. I do covet elusive clear and glowing skin though and this thing is just too gnarly not to try!

    2. I really want Tarte’s unicorn brushes, too, but since I’m losing my job as of April 1, I may have to skip them. *sniffle* (I’ll be on a no-buy till I get working again.)

    3. Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lip in Space Case. It’s a metallic silvery-gray. And permanent. 🙂

The current thing at the top of my wishlist is DE’s C-Firma. I want to add vitamin c back into my skincare but I need something that doesn’t smell like rancid hot dogs or sting. I used this once in the store and I was like “DAYYYYUM”, it didn’t sting, played nice with everything, and didn’t smell like something died inside a hot dog vendor cart.

Makeup wise; I think I’m on the lip stylo train, both Hourglass and Chanel. Lips are always on my list, though. I can’t ever seem to get enough.

Hi Karen – I really want the new Essie gel nail polishes, I don’t even know what color I can’t seem to find them. I am really wanting to try out Ofra’s liquid lip line, a Chanel setting powder ( my Laura Mercier is almost gone), Stila’s new eye shadow liquid glitters, Bite Beauties liquid lip, and I want a new light weight foundation for summer. I can’t even fathom Smith and Cult!!! So out of my price range — but Chanel reintroduced “Vamp” last winter and I’ve been dying for it – but @ $38.oo it’s not happening.

I so want Chanel’s stylo eye, and I will get the mascara again…. I have to have that!!! You turned me on to that, and I’m hooked – I swear it makes me look like I have false eyelashes on! The only thing is it dries out so fast. It’s okay, it is the one thing I will splurge for – I get an anxiety attack trying to put on lashes — and mine are really long anyway…. God blessed me there, thank goodness!!!

I’m searching for a summer perfume – but I’m not sure where to start, I dislike florals, I’m much more of a woodsy/amber/vanilla/patchouli/vetiver kind of girl – but I do also do “fresh”. I love so many perfumes, but Tom Ford’s Black Orchid is my fav. I really like Jimmy Choo Stars too. I don’t know. I just purchased Donna Koran’s My NewYork. I like it. Any suggestions?

Gracie is doing great – good to hear from you yesterday – you sound chipper and I’m glad to hear it. Take good care –
Grace and much peace to the whole clan!!!!

I have $125 in Sephora gift cards and I can’t figure out what to get because I want everything but need nothing.

R+CO products are life. They have this one prep spray I tried once and holy cow, prettiest hair ever? It’s such a well-done brand. I have their salt spray somewhere.

We all need to win the lotto just to feed our beauty habit. This isn’t counting treatments like massages, mani/pedis, future Botox/fillers, etc.
