Wet n Wild Color Icon Singles, Hot Firemen and Wednesday Shenanigans

Daily Moment of Mortification

07/28/10

A cute fireman came to my door today!

This being a hilly area surrounded by dry brush, the town’s fire dudes occasionally visit residents to warn/inform them about brush fires.

Right before the doorbell rang, I was swatching and knee face deep in Wet n Wild’s $2 Color Icon Eyeshadow Singles, with Lagoon (a bright, shimmery blue) on my right eye and Envy (a shimmery jade) on my left.

NOTE TO SELF: Next time you’re doing something cray cray with your makeup…just assume someone (perhaps a hot fireman) is going to come to the door.

Humiliating moments aside, have you tried these budget singles yet? I can hardly believe they’re only $2 each (available in eight colors).

I’ve tried three of the shades so far — Lagoon and Envy (worn simultaneously in the pic above), and Kitten (a shimmery purple with golden glitter) — and I’m guessing these will make color freaks flip! All three are surprisingly rich, bold and buildable ($2!), with intense pigmentation and shimmer.

They’d be downright perfect if they applied a touch more evenly (they look a little patchy in places) and weren’t quite as powdery, but for $2? — I’ll gladly forgive and forget. 🙂

Next time you feel an itch to experiment with brights or feel like you could use a quick drugstore pick-me-up, keep these Wet n Wild Color Icon Singles in mind. I’d say they’re fireman approved…but judging by how quickly the guy left I’d say I scared him away! 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

LOL that’s hilarious, Karen. At least it looks good, though and knowing how men are, he probably didn’t even notice. 🙂

      Hi Shontay,

So true! It’s a miracle when they even notice that we chop off all our hair!

Envy looks great, I’ll have to keep an eye out for it next time I hit up the store.

That’s my favorite out of the three. It would look GREAT with coral blush/gloss!

OK you know what, you’re waaaayyy too cute in that pic, and if you were my sister, that pic would be on my wall and before the eyes of my friends in a milisecond (“Hey Nina, why is your sister wearing two different shadows in that pic? -Cause my sister is cool like that, duh!”) 😀 Haha you’re hilarious!

LOL, it was quite funny when I opened the door. The guy was clearly surprised and tried to play it off, but I just said up front, “Uh, I normally don’t look this crazy. Really!” We had a good laugh.

Too too funny. We used to do some controlled burns in a program I managed and had to go door to door to inform the neighbors to take precautions. People came to the door in all sorts of crazy states.

I just bought these today! I picked up all the colors- at $2 each I couldn’t help myself. I also grabbed a few of the fat eyeshadow pencils. I haven’t swatched them yet but they reminded me of Nyx jumbo pencils so I thought I’d give them a try.

I have the brown one (called Nutty — sure you weren’t testing this one, haw haw) and it rocks. In the ultimate high-low, I wear it with my Edward Bess Island Escape trio. And I can frequently be seen coming out of Sephora, pushing my stroller, arms all swatched up…but I don’t have a blog to excuse my wackiness! I’m just a crazy lady who loves makeup. So what? 🙂

Oh my god, that’s hilarious (and you’re adorbs no matter what you have on your eyes, FYI). I swear, good-looking guys have the worst timing. Last year (around September, I think), I was practicing gory zombie makeup for a haunted house fundraiser, complete with icky bloody prosthetics, and the cute guy down the hall came and knocked on my door. Of course, I was thinking it was just one of the suitemates, so I opened the door and bam. I was staring at him with an ugly zombie-face! He never knocked on my door again after that… wonder why…

Wet n’ Wild color icon collection is the high end of the drugstore world. They have by far the best pigmentation and they’re $1.99

For $2 each, I would just grab all 8 of them to play with! And the 3 shades you swatched above are gorgeous! Love Lagoon! actually I love all 3 of them!

And purple Kitten? Cool! I have always associated Kitten with Stila shimmery champagne colored eyeshadow. 😉

You are too funny! Knowing a couple firefighters (and police officers) and hearing their stories, different-colored eye makeup isn’t even a blip on the radar of crazy things they see. 🙂

I’m really liking that green shade. I may have to check it out once I lift my makeup buying ban.

I cracked up when you posted this on twitter this morning. So hilarious. I wish you would have gotten a picture of the fireman for us, but he was probably already frightened enough.

I will be picking up some of these Wet n Wild shadows tomorrow. They look decent! 😉

Okay, been here before! I called the cops once because I thought someone was trying to break in to my apartment (small girl living alone on ground floor in a not-so-great neighborhood = one scared Julia).

Not only do they send 4 gorgeous young cops, I answer the door in a ripped up shirt and short-shorts like some trashy ragamuffin, but it turns out I just called the cops on my landlord’s son (!!!) who decided to put some equipment into a storage space that apparently shares a wall with my apartment.

At least you weren’t covered in sweat and just came in after a run. I’ve had delivery people come by right after I stepped in from sweating up a storm. So not cute!

Hot fireman be danged — a beauty experiment is VERY IMPORTANT business! 😀

I love the looks – yep even the one blue one green one and now that you have reviewed these, ill go out and pick some up. I am in lurve with the blue, but have been eyeballing a dark brown shade too.

I will probly try and depot them into a palette tho to make me notice and use it! 🙂

Karen, you know I don’t wear waterproof mascara… why must you tell stories that make me laugh until I tear up? I’m going to look like Heath Ledger’s Joker! Seriously though, you make the non-matching eye make-up look super-cute. This could be the start of a new trend. The fireman’s probably at home telling his girlfriend it’s all the rage. 🙂

That’s hilarious about the fire man. When I’m in the middle of a weird look and don’t have liner or mascara on yet, I always worry about someone coming to my door. “I don’t look good yet!”

As for the shadows….OMG! I totally want them. I mean, 2 dollars? Holy moly. I’m off to the drug store!

Picked up Envy on your recommendation– love it! SUCH a pretty green. Also got their liquid liner in Plum, my 2nd purchase of that product– their colored liquid liners are really bright and vibrant… and just $3 😀

I also got a blush from the same Color Icon line as these e/s singles, in Berry Shimmer. Had heard a lot about it on MUA. They weren’t lying when they say the blushes are suuuper pigmented! And I got one of their jumbo pencils in Pixie, a creamy/beige color– it’s soo soft! All for under $10– yay for cheap beauty indulgences 😀
