clarins barocco collection holiday 2010 review swatches photos barocco rouge prodige product shot

You may be asking yourself, what’s with all the rouge lately? The brands just love that word, don’t they? Rouge this and rouge that.

The word may not be all that original anymore, but it’s berry appropriate when it comes to Clarins’ Rouge Prodige limited edition lipstick.

Dressed to thrill in black and gold, it’s semi-matte, unflavored/unscented, and looks opaque on my lips with a single coat.

If you can see yourself slipping into this lovely lippie, then warm up your giveaway muscles, girl.

Here. We. Go! 🙂

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

  • One (1) tube of Clarins Barocco Rouge Prodige lipstick (a $24 value).

  • There are two ways to enter, and you can do both of them for two chances to win. First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post, a comment about anything at all, like how you apply lipstick (Do you go straight from the tube or use a lip brush? Do your bottom lip first and then pressing your lips together? Do tell.), the name of the last movie you watched in a theater, the person you look up to the most, or tell me about one of your hidden talents — you get the idea.
  • Second, you can enter by following me on twitter Twitter @karenmbb and retweeting (RT) the following message:
    • Follow @karenmbb and RT to Win a Clarins Barocco Rouge Prodige Lipstick (a $24 Value) http://bit.ly/fv9OgD

  • The deadline to enter is Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:59PM (PT).
  • Entrants must enter using a valid email address and/or Twitter account to win.
  • A maximum of two (2) entries per person — one within the comments at the bottom of this post, and a second entry via Twitter addressed to me @karenmbb.
  • Contest is open to individuals of any country who have reached the age of majority according to their local laws (18 in the United States with these exceptions: Alabama and Nebraska, 19; Mississippi, 21).
  • Tabs and I (heretofore referred to as “T-Money and K-Dawg”) will select one (1) winner at random from the entries either left in the comments at the bottom of this blog post or addressed to @karenmbb on Twitter.
  • The winner will be announced here within 48 hours of the deadline.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

I think lipstick is a hard thing to find like foundation. Sometimes it doesn’t work with your skin tone or sometimes it just makes you look off. It takes a while to find the perfect color :p

One way I love to apply my lipstick when I want a more sheer or natural look is by dabbing some onto the middle of my lips and slightly patting the color on the rest of my lip. I like doing this when I want some color but not too much.

I’m a sucker for this kind of color. I imagine myself wearing it but then when I actually try and wear it out, I sort of chicken out and blot it instead of wearing the color full on. But when I win this, I’ll definitely wear this on my lips full on, not blotted!

People are always impressed that I still have lipstick on after eating a full meal. The secret? Don’t let your lips touch your fork! I love how the reds are so wearable now. They make your lips look just bitten. When I see pictures of myself in high shool, I look like Mrs. Potato Head or Leona Helmsley with my giant opaque red lips. Don’t get me started on the lipliner fiasco.

    Anyway, Clarins is awesome! 🙂

I apply from the tube to the centre of the lips and then use a lipbrush to achieve an even layer of product all over my lips. I like to wear lipstick over Benefit LipPlump: it makes my lips look fuller, neutralizes my lip colour and makes any lipstick last much longer *_*

I ordered a very expensive make-up brush on the 15th, and still haven’t received it yet (it’s supposed to arrive in 3 days tops). Actually they haven’t send it yet at all! It’s my one and only christmas gift this year, so I’m terribly disappointed I won’t have it for christmas. And the customer service just doesn’t answer my emails. How rude!

Ohhhh, love this color! I’m a crazy lipstick/gloss/chaptstick lady. I carry a whole combination of the 3 in my purse at all times. This backfired when I went to the bar for my birthday a week ago because I managed to lose my whole collection of the shades I’m wearing right now when my purse spilled on the crowded dance floor. Lesson learned though, only one lipstick or gloss per purse from now on!

Love lipstick. I mean I LOVE LIPSTICK! I can’t even begin to tell you how many I have bought…and I don’t want to know – it would be overwhelming!

I apply from the tube, usually. Occasionally I use a brush. I apply to the bottom lip first, then press lips together, then go over the top lip. I don’t use a pencil, even though every time I buy a new lipstick, the SA tries to sell me a lip pencil. I don’t like them – they dry out my lips. And, thank goodness, even though I am OLD, I still have most of my lipline intact – and I don’t have lines around my lips for the lipstick to migrate into. In the future, I admit, I may have more use for a pencil.

well, when I apply lipstick, methods vary. If it is a sheer lipstick, I apply bottom first, then top, and then rub my lips together. If it is dark, but not too opaque, I use the same method, but work more slowly to be precise, and rub my lips together less. If it is opaque, I might use the same method, or occaisionally I use a lip brush. Also, If I have a lipstick that I have broken and have had to depot (rip lancome trendy mauve and nyc lilac shine :(…), then I will use a lip brush, because it is easier than using my finger. And that, my friend, is how I apply lipstick. Don’t even get me started on how I add in lipgloss… p.s…what is all this commentluv business?

So, my sister and I were waiting for our delayed flight at SFO. There was this adorable little boy in red footie pajamas. His dad was on the phone with his mom trying to figure out food for the family and to contact those who’d be picking him up.

Well, the little boy kept on running away, up and down the aisles, his dad trying to catch up. Finally, the dad belted the boy with a strap, and attached to the chair. He was so crushed his little run-around was over. He’d stomp his little footie feet, and his dad smiled and raised an eyebrow at his little spat.

The chairs at the airport at our terminal didn’t have fully attached arms. The little footie guy managed to slip the strap free. He ran his little heart out. He got caught. Didn’t break his spirit though. He just laughed and smiled.

Needless to say our frustrations over the delayed flight were definitely softened by the entertainment and the adorableness of the little boy.

I will always remember him. He was wearing red pajamas, and that is one fab red lipstick. I’d love to win it. 🙂

For matte red lips I like to have already massaged in some lip balm in the center of my lips, line exactly to my lip shape with a clear liner (the Revlon one is great) and then apply the lipstick straight from the tube. Gotta finish up by getting rid of the lipstick in the center of my lips with a finger (a la Amanda from Ugly Betty!) so there’s no smudges on my teeth. I’m still new to dark, opaque mattes on my lips, but it works well for the morena skintone so I’m learning to love it!

What a beautiful color! I apply my lipstick straight from the tube, regardless of color. If it’s a lighter color I’ll make it opaque on my top lip, then a bit sheer on my bottom and then blend them together. Darker colors I tend to apply to look more like a stain, so just dabbing the lipstick on then blending. I’ve tried to use lipbrushes but I never get the look that I’m going for with them 🙁

When I first saw this lipstick online, I loved the color but as a fair skinned redhead with green eyes, I couldn’t see how I could ever make it work on me. However, I recently saw it in one of the stores in Manhattan and although I’m not used to wearing shades like this, I definitely think almost anybody could wear this color well. There’s something magical about this lipstick and I keep hearing it calling my name. I do love the style and decor of the tube, which would draw attention simply by removing it from your handbag. But between the color of the lipstick, which is actually lighter in person than it appears in pictures, the style of the tubing or a combination thereof, I absolutely adore this lipstick. The winner of this contest will be one lucky person. Happy holidays and good luck to all. May the new year bring lots of better health, happiness, prosperity and a ton of newly launched FANTABULOUS make up products .

I am 30 yo and just bought my first tube of lipstick! I’m such a chicken! I am very fair with super rosy cheeks and I have always been afraid of color in anything stronger than a gloss. I’m obsessed with lipstick, and finally decided to give it a whirl! I’m officially hooked! I am seriously lusting after a beautiful red like this!!! Love the blog! Thanks!~

wow to the packaging and product! I apply a lippy either sraight from tube or finger blotted.

Saw “Tangled” with my tater tot a few days ago. Insofar as Disney princesses are concerned, this is one of the more interesting ones, both in terms of her vunerabilility and courage. It was a pretty cute movie, visually interesting, and as a major bonus, had the least annoying sidekicks.

If I’m applying a darker lipcolor, I like to use a brush to apply first for precision, then I blot, and apply straight from the tube, then blot again. I usually find that this method will make the color last the longest with minimal touch-ups.

I apply lipstick straight from the tube if it’s a low-key color, but for dark or super-bright colors I use a lip brush for the first coat (I cannot for the life of me get clean edges straight from the tube) and then go straight from the tube to deepen the color.

i just recently saw Love and Other Drugs movie, it’s a very touching movie, you guys should watch it if you like melodramatic with a little comedy type of movies. (warning: this movie has a lot of sexual scenes, not recommended for 16/below/ years old teens) when i got home i researched the premier of the movie and i saw anne hathaway wearing a red lipstick and i just lovee it !
i notice red lips are in right now !
