Tarte for True Blood: Eye See Vamps Everywhere Going Crazy for This Palette

July 6th, 2011 by Karen 55 Comments

tarte for true blood palette

Well polish my coffin and pour me another cup of that True Blood, Team Tarte, because I’d like to raise my glass! Y’all obviously sunk your teeth into the new limited edition True Blood Palette ($52). I’d stake my life on that.

But seriously, the effort Tarte put into developing this palette shows in the clever little details, like the words “Open After Dark” scrawled across the cubby that conceals the mini primer, mascara and eyeliner, and the lace threading through the grommets on the cover (er, those better not be silver!).

Saucy!

A little drawer for a set of fake fangs would’ve been the icing on the cake. After all, undead wannabes wear makeup, too, but I guess you can’t appease all of the fangbangers all of the time… But you can appease some of them some of the time, especially when you arrange the shadows in a palette in a logical way.

You know how brands will sometimes haphazardly place unrelated shades beside each other in a palette? That’s one of my eye palette pet peeves, but I like how this palette groups smokey shadows in the lower right hand corner, warmer jewel tones in the lower left and the neutrals at the top. It’s conducive to creativity (at least I think so) and makes it easy to sift through the 17 shades.

Baby vamps probably wouldn’t realize this yet, but after a few hundred years, the nights begin to blur together. The way these shadows seamlessly blend together reminds me of that aspect of everlasting undead life. It takes barely a few flicks from an eyeshadow brush to transition from one shade to the next, even when I’m wearing several colors on my lids. love

And, dude, I don’t care how easy Vampire Bill makes glamoring humans look, it can take up a huge chunk of my night. Because these shadows stay put from dusk till dawn without fading or creasing at all, they free up my human hunting time.

As for the other three pieces in the set, I like the eyeshadow primer and mascara, but my eyes tear up when I wear the liner along my water line (sorry, Lafayette).

Seasoned eyeshadow junkies with large collections may already have many of these shades. For that reason, it may be more attractive to makeup newbies and true-blue True Blood fans. Once they realize what a great value it is, they’ll be rising from the ground quicker than you can say, “AB negative, please.” 🙂

oohh I think Lafayette would approve. But more importantly so would Eric. I really like that green shadow. Reminds me a bit of MAC’s Humid.

It is kinda Humid-esque… maybe with a little less black?

It looks great… but the pigmentation of tarte eye shadows seems like it’s just okay, a touch chalky. 🙁

On me the colors are pretty pigmented, and texture-wise they’re smooth. I guess it just depends on the person.

You’re in for a treat! They’ve been doing a lot of great stuff lately.

Are you into blushes? Tarte’s Amazonian Clay ones are AMAZING. Here’s a review in case you’re interested:

I’m not entirely convinced by the colours, but the greyish ones are stunning! (yes, I also have a soft spot for that kind of colours) And that smokey eye you did is beauuuuutiful – very sexy night at Fangtasia!

Which reminds me I still have to watch episode two. He eh he.

I love the little touches that Tarte’s added to this collection, too. I thought “Glamour Me” was particularly clever. Of course, you know I have a soft spot for Tarte. And for True Blood. I was looking forward to some crazy Tarte claims with this collection. 🙂

        ohhh yeahhh!

im wearing that burgundy at the bottom all over the lids, but very lightly patted on, the gray beside it in my crease and the silver in the inner corner.

i had to go light w/ the eyeshadow since too much would make it look almost fall/winter. but – with a subtle blush (blushbaby) and nude lips — it really really works!

I completely agree with you about Tarte paying close attention to the placement of colours in the palette. I noticed that any four shadows (that touch ((essentially forming a larger square)) would work together as a “look”. They almost created a large box full of quads.
