ApotheCARE Essentials Vanilla Argan Oil Sweet Almond Shampoo, Conditioner and “The Mender” Hair Oil

ApotheCARE Essentials Vanilla Argan Oil Sweet Almond Shampoo and Conditioner for Dry Hair ($12.99 each, a 12-oz. bottle with pump), and The Mender Hair Oil ($10.99 for a 4-oz. bottle)

Got an unruly mop? These three silicone-, paraben- and dye-free hair helpers can…help? If you don’t mind hair that’s sleeker, smoother and dramatically flatter.

Like, dude, where’s my volume?

There’s a shampoo, a conditioner and a hair oil, and they tame big hair stat. I see a difference immediately when I use them together on my wavy hair, which is dyed and healthy for the most part, but I do have to deal with dry ends.

Thing is…the lack of volume.

Depending on how much puff you want in your pouf, flattening can be a good or a bad thing. If you crave the kind of control that tames tresses by weighing your hair down (which I totally get, because sometimes wild hair needs/wants serious taming!), these will do that, but if big hurr is your priority, like it is mine, ’cause #bighairdontcare, I’d say skip ’em.

SHAMPOO INGREDIENTS

CONDITIONER INGREDIENTS
Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol*, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine*, Glycerin*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Jasminum Grandiflorum (Jasmine) Flower Extract*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract*, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Arctium Lappa Root Extract*, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract*, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract*, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract*, Behentrimonium Chloride*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Fragrance (Parfum), Dipropylene Glycol, Lactic Acid, Potassium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool *Plant-Based Ingredients

HAIR OIL INGREDIENTS
Mineral Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Octyldodecanol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Jasminum Grandiflorum (Jasmine) Flower Extract*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract*, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Arctium Lappa Root Extract*, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract*, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract*, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract*, Fragrance (Parfum), Tocopherol, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Isoeugenol, Limonene, Linalool *Plant-Based Ingredients<

I’m on the fence about these three… Depending on how I feel about volume at any given moment, I like them. When I’m not in a “big hair” mood, I think they’re pretty good individually and used together…but I don’t love them enough to restock.

But they get points for being affordable and for having a fantastic fragrance, IMO, which reminds me of a schmexy, much $$$-er vanilla at Tom Ford.

❤️❤️ 2 out of 5 hearts

Karen

So I’ve been using the Volumizing line from this brand and quite like it! Doesn’t seem to weigh my baby fine hair down and it’s rose scented. I don’t know that it made my hair bigger, but it didn’t flatten me out.

I just got a deluxe sample of the Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It leave in for fine hair and I really like it.

My hair is easily weighed down, it is so fine, so I think these will be a pass for me.

I like the scents but definitely don’t want my hair weighed down. Thanks for the review!

The shampoo has Sodium Laureth Sulfate which I find extremely drying for my hair, so I’m confused how this is moisturizing. With super fine hair like mine, it’s a fine line between products that are moisturizing and products that build or maintain volume. Sigh. But at roughly $13 a bottle, I might give one of these a try.
