Did You Know Vitamin Shoppe Carries Beauty Products?

August 10th, 2008 by Karen 17 Comments

Hi, ladies! Pardon the late post and the poor pics (sent from my phone), but I had to take Tabs to the vet, and things took longer than expected. Most importantly, Tabs is fine — clean bill of health.

I had to run to Vitamin Shoppe to pick up some vitamin C and wanted to mention their surprisingly large beauty section. There’s lots of organic (but not exclusively) body and hair stuff and some pretty good prices overall. Definitely worth a visit.

I found several silicone-free deep conditioners for around $7. Seriously, they have a big selection. I liked one conditioner by Giovanni because it smelled like sweet oranges!

Giovanni Hair Care Direct Leave-In Conditioner, $7.15

Ingredients: Aqueous (water) extracts of rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) oil, nettle (urtica dioica oil, thyme (thymus vulgaris) oil, birch leaf (butela alba) oil, chamomile (anthemis nobilus flower) oil, clary (salvia sclarea), lavender (lavandula angustifolia), coltsfoor leaf (tussilago farfara), yarrow (achillea millefolium) oil, mallow (malva sylvestris), horsetail (equistetum arvense) oil, soybean protein (glycine soja), cetyl alcohol (plant derived), tocopherol (vitamin E), trace minerals, citric acid (corn), sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, grapefruit seed (citrus derived).

Hope you’re having a nice Sunday.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Happy to know that your cat is finally healthy 🙂 Are you adopting him for real now?

Hmm, cool. I didn’t know they carried that stuff! So is Tabs yours or the neighbors’? I’m confused. If he’s the neighbors you shouldn’t have to pay for his doctor visits! But if they’re bad owners, you should just keep him.

yay for Tabs, that’s a relief. I’ve actually used some giovanni shampoo and conditioner before. it’s pretty good for “drugstore”. Kiss My Face makes good stuff too. 🙂

Have any of you, in the name of beauty, used supplements or vitamins that you thought would help your appearance? Things that claim to clear your skin, make your hair & nails grow, give you vibrant hair, etc… I haven’t used any for the sake of beauty because it most likely would not work because it probably doesn’t have enough of the nutrient for it to make a difference OR the claims are probably exaggerated since vitamins & supplements are not regulated by the FDA…nonetheless it does make you wonder “what if” it were to work 🙂

    Hey Karen,

Hurray for Tabs! Glad to hear he’s doing well. 😀 I just wanted to throw in my two cents on the Giovanni hair products – you need to try their Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner someday. They moisturize so well and have this crazy cooling property that resonates throughout your scalp when you use it, along with a fresh minty scent that I swear is the most calming thing ever at the end of the day. They also sell the larger sizes of them around for a better price than the smaller ones if you ever want to make the investment in them.

Also, on a similar note to Okyanus’s post, I saw Aloe Vera in pill form the other day and it completely freaked me out. Do you know if it’s supposed to be good for you like that?

    Hi Brittany,

We found out that he isn’t microchipped, so yeah, I think he’s up for grabs, officially. 🙂

    Hi Mariah,

I always assumed he belonged to someone because he doesn’t wear a collar and he’s so sweet, but a few weeks ago El Hub found a tapeworm on his fur. The cat’s also spending practically every morning and evening at our house, so I started worrying that he wasn’t getting the proper vet care since (plus, we don’t want him to be uncomfortable and wormy). We decided to take him to this vet service that offers discounted vet care to get him checked out. The vet also told us he isn’t microchipped, so now I feel better about officially adopting him!

    Hi Amanda,

I saw that line there, too. I’ve used some skin stuff from Kiss My Face, but not the hair stuff. 🙂

    Hi Okyanus,

A few years ago I took fish oil capsules as a dietary supplement. I started noticing that my hair looked shinier and felt thicker! El Hub started doing it too, and he also noticed a difference. I haven’t taken them in a few months (I get lazy about vitamins sometimes), though.

    Hi Elena,

The tea tree stuff sounds wonderful! I will have to grab some when my scalp goes crazy (always happens when the weather changes).

Aloe Vera in a pill?!?! What is it supposed to do? I know they have it in juice form but I’ve never tried it. The only aloe vera I use is the gel kind… feels so good after a day at the beach!

    Hi Tammy M,

I’ve seen a body care section at GNC in the past… it’s not as extensive as the Vitamin Shoppe one but there’s a few lines there.

Yay for Tabs! I’m glad he’s ok and you’re going to adopt him. When my face was zit infested (and still is, but in a lesser degree), I used to take those liver blend pills and saw good results. But then I got lazy so I stopped.

Karen, please take a peak at my blog today. I used your lazy eye method to do a smokey eye look.

Glad to hear that Tabs is ok. Yay!

I had no clue that the Vitamin Shoppe had beauty products. Sounds like they have a good selection at reasonable prices.
