NARS Steven Klein Holiday 2015, Part 1: The Gift Sets

October 2nd, 2015 by Karen 20 Comments

It wouldn’t be the holidays at NARS without a gift set with some man junk…

And a lady in a Jason Voorhees mask…

SCARY!!!

So, yeah. It’s pretty much business as usual over at NARS! 🙂

The brand likes to scoot along the razor’s edge with their holiday collections, often doing collaborations with cutting edge artists, and their holiday releases are anything but boring and traditional. Instead of reindeers and candy canes, we get ladies in lingerie wearing sexy aliens masks.

This year’s collab is with fashion photographer Steven Klein, and it’s a big one. I’ve split it into two parts, with this first video covering the gift sets, which arrive on the NARS website and at NARS boutiques October 5, and then in stores November 1.

Here are some swatches and pictures, and there’s a lot more info in the video at the top. I hope you see something you like.

All of these seem like amazing sets (especially the audacious lip set, in love!) but wtf is this packaging?! Haha, it’s original but I’d almost prefer the traditional red/green/white festive packaging to be honest!

I must have the Despair Cheek palette, four shades I don’t have!!! Oh no, another dual intensity palette that doesn’t rock my socks. And I own too many of the lip products and pencils. First World Problems, bring on the blush!!!

The Nude Lip Set is looking good… a nude lip set that doesn’t contain a light nude! Yay!

Oh, shoot – I really want the Killer Heels mini, Magnificent Obsession and Abnormal Female sets! Only problem is, I already have/had about one colour from each set already…

I don’t really need another Kabuki, but that set would be something to cheer me up every day at my desk…

I can’t say that I’m really into the aesthetics of the photographs used for this collection (I mean, some just freak me out) but I think the sets are pretty amazing. Really well curated, which is what a Holiday collection should be!

I just cannot get over the packaging, so I think I will pass on this set. I find most of the imagery to off putting.
I like the first three colors in the dual intensity palette, but already own two in a previous palette. Think I will just pass, unless I get one or two of the single eye colors.

Definitely picking up multiples of the Red Lip Set. I’ve just missed having Flamenco in my life. ?

There are some really great colors in the Dual Intensity Eye Palette – everything in the collection looks very rich and holiday. Well, except the packaging which may or may not give me nightmares. 🙂

Whoa, Nelly! Let’s talk about that packaging. And that junk! *insert mischievous grin* I do think this collection looks uber fancy & high fashion ready. Really the only exciting holiday collection I’ve seen thus far. And it’s been curated well. 🙂

Just not into the images at all. No amount of prettiness on the inside will make me buy that awful packaging. Plus, I have 3 girls and not the thing I want them seeing, if you know what I mean.
I want classy holiday packing and collections!

Somebody commented “fancy and high fashion” packaging…Really? Where does this world go???? The packaging is disturbing, scary, death promoting that gives nightmare and destruction.
I like the products, but sorry, Nars, Im not supporting you with my money to these disturbing death images. I won’t buy anything from this collection.

This collection is mind blowing specially that blush palette. But I guess there is one more blush and contour palette which is a bit bigger. However, i have my eyes on Audacious Lipstick Coffret 🙂

    XOXO… GreenStory
