Do You Take The Monsters Bride MAC Pro Palette X 6 To Be Your Lawfully Wedded Workhorse Eye Palette of the Week? I Do

October 18th, 2013 by Karen 8 Comments

In the event you currently have a hankering for a bridal eye palette with a pan of Kermit the Frog-like green eyeshadow, you’re in luck! There’s the MAC Monster’s Bride Pro Palette X 6 ($44 US, $52 CAN).

It’s more than just a gimmick, too. It contains several MAC workhorse (err, work frog?) shades.

You’ve also got some capable brow fillers here, like Omega for blondes, and Brun, which doubles as a great brow filler for brunettes with warm reddish tones in their hair (it’s what I’m using these days).

For smokey eyes, you get Club and Carbon — two absolute champs.

And then there’s Mylar, which doubles as a bad-@ss brow bone or inner corner highlighter.

The Monster’s Bride Pro Palette is haunting select MAC locations and online now as part of the Rick Baker collection… boo!

You’ll feel like a queen — a terrifying spider queen! — in MAC’s Spider Queen Pro Palette X 6 ($44 US, $52 CAN).

It hails from the great beyond the Rick Baker collection, a festive Halloween-themed special effects release that arrived a little earlier this month.

It’s available now at select MAC locations, haunted mansions, graveyards and online…

We’ve Got a Cooling Trend at Target Stores, and It’s the Pixi Seasonal Reflection Kit in Casual Cool

October 16th, 2013 by Karen 7 Comments

Pixi Casual Cool Seasonal Reflection Kit

Pixi Casual Cool Seasonal Reflection Kit

Today expect a cooling trend with Pixi’s new Seasonal Reflection Kit in Casual Cool. 🙂

Like yesterday’s unseasonably Warm Wonder, it houses eight powder eyeshadows and one powder blush, except that in this case the tones are cool.

Thankfully, there’s no eye to this storm. It’s just a $22 weather system (on sale now for $17) located at Target stores and target.com.

I’m Sensing a Warming Trend From the Sheer Shadows and Blush in the Pixi Warm Wonder Seasonal Reflection Kit

October 15th, 2013 by Karen 11 Comments

The new Pixi Warm Wonder Seasonal Reflection Kit, $22

Pixi’s new Seasonal Reflection Kit in Warm Wonder comes with — you guessed it — warm tones, in the form of eight powder eyeshadows and a powder blush.

I’m getting a distinctly autumnal vibe, like autumn leaves…

Or is that just me?

The eyeshadows sure shimmer, but they’re firmly on the sheerer side (surprisingly sheer), which makes them fab for weekends and casual makeup looks.

It’s available now at Target stores and online. Normally, it goes for $22, but it’s on sale now for $17.

The kit also has a cool-toned counterpart, and I’ll post some pics of that one soon.

Makeup Storage Ideas: Using a Deluxe Bead Organizer for Eyeshadow Singles and Paint Pot Jars

October 10th, 2013 by Karen 23 Comments

So, each of these $7.99 Deluxe Bead Organizers from Jo-Ann holds 30 eyeshadow pans or Paint Pot jars.

And if you feel extra ambitious and/or loopy, you could even make labels to take your makeup organizing to the next level.

LOL! This is what happens when you worked at a law office as the gatekeeper to a file room filled with files on over 400 cases. I still bear the metaphorical scars…

Revlon PhotoReady Primer + Shadow in Bohemian

I had a great time at the Rite Aid in Corte Madera a couple weeks ago. I left with my little basket filled with things I wanted to try, like this Revlon PhotoReady Primer + Shadow palette in Bohemian (about $7.50).

I still haven’t worn it yet, but I love the colors, especially that light blue…

It’s available now online and at CVS, Rite Aid and Target stores (and probably most other drugstores, too).

NYC New York Color Black Knight Ultra Last Lipwear

NYC New York Color Black Knight Ultra Last Lipwear

NYC New York Color Black Knight Ultra Last Lipwear

I spotted this crazy lipstick at the drugstore a couple weeks ago and could not resist.

It’s NYC New York Color Ultra Last Lipwear in Black Knight, and get this: it’s only $1.99!

$1.99 what-what!?

NYC New York Color Black Knight Ultra Last Lipwear

It’s hella creamy, and one of those shades that takes a lot of work, because it also tends to be a bit patchy.

If you don’t mind taking your time and doing some layering with lip liner, though, you can make it work.
