Hello, Hydration! Clinique Pop Splash Lip Gloss + Hydration

Cute tubes, yeah?

“You can never have too many tubes of gloss in your purse. Or too many kittens.”

— Ancient proverb (author unknown)

Clinique Pop Splash Lip Gloss + Hydration ($18.50, 0.14-oz. tube with a doe-foot applicator, 20 shades)

The key words here are “HELLA HYDRATION.”

You probably don’t *need* to collect ’em all, since the peaches, roses and pinks all look very similar on lips (the hot pink and red are pretty distinctive, though), but you might want to keep one or two in your purse for when your lips are dramatically dry (like mine are).

Be prepared for a touch-up every couple hours if you wear one because they aren’t long-lasting (unlike the recently discontinued Glosswears), buy it’s a decent trade-off considering how cute and compact the tubes are. I do like seeing them in my T. Rex claws…

My “artfully disheveled” face-framing bangs, a.k.a. my messy hair, never sticks to this gloss, either. They don’t have one of those gluey gloss formulas, and they’re lightweight and don’t smell or taste obnoxious (no flavor or scent).

Overall, I like ’em. If they were priced a bit better and lasted a bit longer, I think they’d be perfect. They feel and look a lot like the Chanel Rouge Coco Glosses, except for $12 less.

And pssst — here’s a little secret. If you want a non-sticky hydrating gloss but don’t want to throw down $20, Neutrogena has these, which are similar, for $9, although those colors aren’t nearly as schmexy.

❤️❤️❤️ 3 out of 5 hearts.

Did you know? If you have trouble with glosses traveling beyond the edge of your lip line, try lining your lips with a transparent lip liner first. The liner will keep your gloss from migrating, and because it isn’t tinted, it won’t change the color. 😉

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

These look perfect for the summer! I’ve been into tinted lip balms lately and these look like just the texture and pigment I’m looking for.

Clarification needed: too many kittens in general, or too many kittens in one’s purse?

The colors are so pretty! The formula sounds nice & comfy too. I just wish they lasted a little longer for the price too
