According to Mayan Makeup Calendars, the Santigolden Age Summer Collection Is Right on Time

Shout-out to the Mayans, yo! The feathered serpents, jaguars, pyramids and gold rings — you know, the usual Sephora fare.

I feel like the 7-piece Santigolden Age collection is about two years late, but hey, I’m not complaining at all. I’m glad that last doomsday prediction was off. 🙂

Smashbox Santigolden Age Collection
The 7-piece Smashbox Santigolden Age collection…

New for summer from Smashbox, the release, a collaboration with American singer/songwriter Santigold, sort of has a Mayan apocalyptic theme. It features two eyeshadow palettes, which Smashbox refers to as Eye Collages; two double-ended eye liners; two lip glosses; and a lipstick…inside a ring!

I hadn’t heard of Santigold before this collection, so I looked her up on YouTube…

Some pretty catchy stuff! Kind of reminds me a li’l of M.I.A.

At first I thought the colors in the limited edition launch seemed all over the place, but upon closer inspection, I think I see how the pieces fit.

There are a bunch of bright-ish colors — blues, greens, oranges and yellowish golds — held together by neutrals (brown, black and beige).

I think it’s definitely a collection for girls/guys who have a “no fear!” outlook on wearing color.

Probably not one of those collections where I’d be putting ALL of the pieces on my face at the same time… Maybe just one or two, and the standouts for me are the Eye Shadow Collages.

For $36, you get five shades in each one, which is a pretty good deal! The shadows feel super soft and creamy, and despite the fact that I find snakes hella creepy, I like the design on the pans.

Maybe it’s because I think these snakes are kind of cute. 🙂

As for the dual-ended liners, the display for the blue/gold combo was missing a cap when I saw it at Sephora, and the blue shade from the Azurite Is Never Wrong/El Dorado duo was so dried out that I could barely swatch it.

So, whatever you do, if you bring it home, don’t lose that cap; otherwise, the end is nigh for yo’ eyeliner!

Also, I think the mint green shade from the Yellow/Dwarf/Green Martian duo is straight-up bangin’. I want to put that on my water line, like, yesterday.

LOVE!

The Santigolden Age collection is rockin’ now at Smashbox counters, Sephora stores and online.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I think I might need to see this LE collection in person to form an opinion. I like some of the shades. Contrary to what I usually wear, I love the Green Martian eyeliner as well as El Dorado (too bad they’re not on the same liner). And I like the orange gloss. Kind of an interesting theme, in spite of being too late for world’s end.

Ooh, thanks for swatching the collection! Last time I checked, the Sephoras near me didn’t have any items from the collection in. The liners look awesome!

I really hope this comes to Smashbox in the UK because I want a lot of these. Drooling over Apocalypse Now and the double ended blue/gold eyeliner. I’d want to try to lipglosses first before buying though.

I don’t know if there is anything in this collection that I would use on a regular basis (although that reddish gloss is calling to me). But the packaging is really cool!

LOVE Green Martian/Yellow Dwarf!!! I went to Sephora hoping to swatch it and compare it to the Stila Smudge Sticks in Mint Julep and Canary but they didn’t have the collection yet. How do the shades and formulas compare?

I’ve been waiting for your photos and swatches of the collection. Already ordered the green martian/yellow dwarf liner, let’s see how it turns out on me 😀
