Be Catwalk Ready Right Meow With Paul & Joe Spring 2012

February 7th, 2012 by Karen 84 Comments

paul & joe kitten collection sparkles spring 2012

Cat lady problems! I spent the better part of my nine lives today hemming and hawing (and caterwauling even) over whether I could bear to ruin the pretty designs and patterns on the lipsticks, blushes and powder pans in Paul & Joe’s new feline fabulous cat-themed collection for spring 2012.

Every single piece in the limited edition launch, which marks Paul & Joe’s 10-year anniversary in cosmetics and skincare, is like catnip for CCLs! — a purrfect little piece of kitty cat art.

The release is divided into two parts. Part One: Kitten Collection. Part Two: Collection Sparkles.

The eight-piece Kitten Collection hums (or is that a purr?) with a matte pressed face powder, three stick blushes, three nail polishes and a waterproof gel liner while the six-piece Collection Sparkles pounces! — despite its awkward name — onto lips, eyes and faces with three lipsticks and three powders for faces and eyes. And the whole shebang is available now on Paul & Joe counters and also online.

Hmm… I don’t know how Tabs feels about waiting, but I think I need one more night with these pretty kitties before I take my brushes to ’em.

How do you feel about this launch? Would you give it a meow or a hiss?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. “Mrow?” (translation: How was your day?)

No complaints out here. I did have my heart set on going to yoga tonight, but I’m still not feeling 100%, so I should probably just take it easy at home and self-medicate with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

About that reunion, did they really need to split it into multiple parts?

What are you up to tonight? 🙂

Everything is so, so cute. I’ve never tried Paul & Joe, I’ve never bought anything solely because of packaging . . . but those two things might be about to change!

OH MY GOD I AM DYING. DYING. I just showed my boyfriend and he agrees that they are the cutest things ever and he said I needed them.

My boyfriend just said I needed makeup. Because cats. I was having a terrible day until I saw this post.

    Those eyeshadows are beyond adorable.

I kind of love it (looks nothing like my two cats but still has that essence – they really should have gone more Siamese imho). I remember when Sephora in SF used to have the line in store. I am only buying things I can touch and check in person so guess this one is just for looking….they should come back to the Bay Area.

Total CCL here. 😉 I bought one of each kitty-themed item in the collection(s), and aside from the nail polish, I haven’t used any of them because the packaging is just TOO CUTE. I kind of suspected I wouldn’t use them anyways, so I’m not disappointed in the least. I love it all!!

I don’t really know anything about Paul and Joe, I would t even know where to find it, lol. But i gotta give ’em mad props for sticking to their theme! They didn’t half ass it, they carried their theme through out every element!! Sometimes I wish MAC went all full throttle with their themes.

I’m interested in hearing the review! Are those eye and face powders both eye and face powders next to eachother in one pan? Because I dunno how I’d feel about those grey cat sillhouettes next to like, a blush when it comes to trying to pick up pigment with a brush!

I have already meowed! I have Catwalk lipstick, Purr-Fect eyeshadows, Catfight blush, and Manekineko nail polish.
The eyeshadows (this one’s not a blush, unless you want green cheeks!) are great (but kind of sheer as Japanese are), but the lipstick – as some blogger said, P & J lipsticks are a hit or a miss – is hardly a MLBB, it’s more nude. And the texture is not the best.
I have not used the other items yet, and don’t know if I’m going to use the blush!

I understand completely. I bought two lipsticks with the pawprints and one of the eyeshadows, and it was very hard to make myself swatch them. At least there’s more pawprints down the lipsticks and the eyeshadows did well with swatching. I have to say I wasn’t impressed with the products though, as pretty as they are, the quality is a bit meh. I wanted the pressed powder too, but at £28 I’ve passed. Pretty, but £28?

According to Paul & Joe, the eyeshadows can be used on the face too. Siamese Please can be used as a bronzer and Kittycat as a blush, but I don’t understand how Purr-Fect can be used on the face.
