Lip Look: Nars Shrinagar Lipstick and Sweet Revenge Lipgloss

February 15th, 2009 by Karen 31 Comments

Apologies, but laziness rules the roost at casa de MBB this Sunday. The rain is sapping my energy. I keep telling myself to hit the gym and to get some work done, but the little voice pushing me to watch the Laguna Beach Season One DVD while grinding on my box of Valentine’s Day chocolates has so far ruled the day.

Mmm… chocolate. 🙂

Speaking of Valentine’s, did you wear anything special on your lips yesterday?

On my V-Day movie date with El Hub last night I went with a shimmery rose Nars combo with Shrinagar lipstick and Sweet Revenge lipgloss.

Sweet Revenge is a shimmery nude pink with a hint of blue and silver micro-glitter. I applied it on top of deep berry Shrinagar to lighten it up. I really like how it look turned out.

Later tonight I have a date with Benefit’s new Spring 2009 Creaseless Cream Shadows and Full-Finish Lipsticks, but Tabs is playing interference. I guess he wants it all to himself, LOL!

I hope you’re staying warm and dry today.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I sported a creamy, hot pink lip confection made up of Chanel Splendeur lipstick topped with MAC Petite Indulgence creme lipglass! It was luvverly! 🙂

I just got through helping a friend move and now I am firmly in the DVD and chocolate camp with you! Hope you enjoy your afternoon!

I wore my brand new Hello Kitty lipglass in She Loves Candy! The BF financed my lip loveliness – he gave me a MAC gift card for Valentine’s Day! What a good man.

I am lusting after Shrinigar lipstick now. It looks gorgeous. I’ve never tried any NARS lip products but I love their blush.

I haven’t hit the treadmill in over two weeks due to a newly adopted dog. I say we are “transitioning” and I can’t screw up her schedule by disappearing into the basement until she’s comfortable. So don’t feel bad! 🙂

Hope you had a great V-Day!

    Hi Glosslizard,

Your lip look sounds delish! You can never go wrong with hot pink lips, especially on V-day. 🙂

And holla on the chocolate. I’m thinking that a big slice of fudge cake from Safeway (they have the BEST fudge slice cake) will have to find its way into my tummy this evening.

    Hi Katherine,

Congrats on your new family member. What’s your dog’s name? 🙂

And your bf sounds like a great catch! Gotta love it the boys that encourage growing your lipgloss collection!

    Hey Karen!

Doggie’s name is Abby. She was dropped off by her evil ex-owners at my office building in a dirty crate, starving and smelly! So we rescued her. She’s now sleeping on her sherpa bed, snoring up a storm. Spoiled already!

Yes, the BF is fabulous. He even sat politely when I went to show him all the Hello Kitty stuff I came back from the mall with, LOL.

Katherine´s last blog post..MAC Hello Kitty!

    Dear Karen,
Oh em gee, your like my idol! I double heart all the makeup review and stuff on here. it’s perfect for someone like me. I’m 14, and while all my friends like cheap, trampyish neon colors (two words. Covergirl Quads. especially in the brightest, most unnatural colors ever) that don’t blend and just look jouvinile , I pour over fashion week shots, and teen vouge, along with the all important people style watch! I spend all my extra money at Sephora and Nordstroms. I love Chanel and YSL makeup, but normally buy Bobbi Brown, Benefit ( BadGal lash anyone?), Lancome, Stila, Smashbox, and the all important MAC. Your a total inspiration : ). and I triple heart your cat!
Hugs and Kisses from So Cal,
    Kailey

Uh, what lip product did I wear yesterday? Oh yea, L’Oreal HiP Jelly Balm in Plush.

Last night, I sewed a pillow out of spare fabric for my bed with my new sewing machine (well, technically I got it for my birthday so it’s not brand-spanking new). I still don’t have sewing a straight line down but I almost did have straight lines on my pillow! The sewing straight with the sewing machine is a process (pft, I can’t even hand-sew a straight line…or draw one…or cut one) but I’m working on it. My foot pedal is temperamental so I’m still trying to get it to make the sewing machine go slow and not stop.

I also brought my neighbor’s dog (and Zena’s only doggy companion) Ally back to her house yesterday evening. She somehow got off her outside leash and I had to retrieve her and bring her back. It’s a good thing I know Ally so well so she listened to me when I said “come” and “heel.” She’s a big dog with thick fur and resembles a wolf but I know her silhouette like no one else. I got her back on her leash so Zena’s BFF is safe and sound. Ally’s a Husky/German Shepard so she loves cold weather so she spends a lot of time outside in the cold, windy Midwestern winters whilst Zena and I hate the cold, windy Midwestern winters.

Zena also got brushed (again) so she’s silky smooth and shiny. I still have to go to Petsmart with my dad and get her undercoat brush. I will find a way to get to that undercoat, I will!!!

Tabs looks so cute! I have this insane urge to call him Tabby or Tabby Tabby. Then again, I call Zena “Zena Zena” when she’s being brushed.

    Hi Katherine,

I’m happy that Abby found you… it sounds like her former people didn’t deserve her.

LOL, El Hub did the same thing when I took out my HK stuff too. He now knows way
too much about the pros and cons of Beauty Powder. 🙂

    Hi Kate,

That’s cool that you can sew. Someday I would like to learn how to do that… seems like a really creative and satisfying hobby. The closest I can get to sewing is knitting, and then the only thing I can make are knit scarves. 🙂

Zena has a BFF! That’s so cute. Maybe they should be homies on Dogster?

You can call Tabs “Tabby.” That’s his formal name, LOL!

Hi Karen! That lip look came out so pretty on you, I have that lip stick in my wish list now. On V-Day I tried something new. After lining my lips w/a neutral liner I applied Stila’s convertible color in lillium (which I’ve never done before, I had always just used it as a blush but was pleasantly surprised at how it looked on my lips). Using a lip brush made a big difference than just applying it with my finger. Then I topped it off with MAC’s lipglass in Cherry Blossom. Wish I had tried this sooner! 🙂

    Hi Michelle,

OoOooO… I have been *lusting* over Iillium for some time now! Whenever I visit Sephora the color seems to MIA. Your lip look sounds really pretty, so now really want it! 🙂

How’s your Monday been? Do you have today off?

Karen, I can basically sew very basic stuff like resewing on buttons or sewing shut Zena’s squeaky toys. I can take the waist in on my clothes but I haven’t gotten to hemming as I’m still practicing sewing straight.

Ally is pretty much the only dog that Zena likes as she is taller than Zena. Zena doesn’t get along with dogs smaller than she and my neighborhood is full of tiny dogs. Zena’s buddy in basic obedience training class was an Australian Shepard!

    Hi Kate,

That’s interesting — I wonder why she doesn’t get along with the tiny dogs, hmm… Then again, who knows why dogs do what they do. My dad’s dog, Shauna, doesn’t like men. She likes my dad, my brother and she tolerates El Hub. But anybody else with a Y chromosome she can’t stand.

Do Zena and Ally have play dates? That would be so cute!

Hey Karen! I love, love, love Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Liner/Shadow! They are amazing and really work! I use them all the time as eye shadow – in fact, they are part of my 5 minute face because they are amazing neutral colors that can be used from lid to brow without the need of a primer! Just liner and mascara and I have a great look for the day!

    Hi Karen!

Great makeup minds think a like!!!! I love Birthday Suit, RSVP and Flatter Me, but my all time favorite is Bunny Hop (which was a purchase special at Sephora) and I can’t live without that color – it is a pinky/peach irridescent color!

Ha ha, no, Zena and Ally don’t have play dates. They still are in that “getting to know you” stage as they met over the summer.

Most dogs will get along with dogs their own size. Depending on their past experiences, they may not get along with dogs bigger than them, smaller than them or certain humans. When we went to basic obedience class, the instructor’s German Shepards loved tiny dogs. Zena, like most terriers, have a big dog personality in a little body so she loves bigger dogs with a similar temperament to her own.

I wonder if Shauna had any traumatic experiences around men causing her to dislike them. Traumatic experiences are usually the reason a dog doesn’t like a particular gender and feels distressed around them.

    Hi Lexi,

OH, I don’t have MAC Whirl… I will have to sample it at the counter and then pop some gloss on top to see the magic happen.

I’ve heard really great things about Greek Holiday. It’s on my list, whee.

    Hi Kate,

She came to our family as a second hand puppy, so I’ve often wondered about her background.

I still think of her as my pup, LOL, even though she’s almost 10!

Hey, Zena is 5 and I think of her as a puppy. I think all dog owners think that about their dogs. Dogs are forever puppies.

Has your family tried desensitization training? What you do is you take a doggy bag and fill it with her favorite soft doggy treats (like Snausages) cut into little pieces and hang it on a post handle, fence post, mailbox, etc. Have guys call the house before they come over so someone can tell them to take the doggy bag. When they come over and when they leave, have the male drop the treat on the floor so she learns that the male gender is a source of good things. If she just sniffs them and shows no aggression, she gets treated. After she becomes comfortable, switch to just praise and love. It takes a long time so patience is a virtue but you’re basically showing her that men are okay.

We’ve been doing that with Zena for thunderstorms so she doesn’t go psycho. She hates thunderstorms. We’ve gotten her to the point that she’ll sit in the middle of the room for a few minutes and then she goes to mom or me for comfort. She isn’t whining or shaking or pacing anymore. We use little tiny pieces of cheese.
