MAC Philip Treacy Collection First Impressions, Mini Reviews [VIDEO]

March 24th, 2015 by Karen 14 Comments

Hats, baby! Hats, hats, all types of hats.

What’s that fancy word for a maker of hats…? I think it might be milliner? Milner?

I dunno.

London-based Philip Treacy is a big deal maker of hats (he outfitted several people who attended the royal wedding of William and Kate), and the MAC Philip Treacy collection was inspired by three of his coiffure-covering creations.

Ninth grade me would have flipped over this collection. That’s when I was deep in the midst of my hat phase. I wore a hat every day to school for most of that year.

Looking back, I feel sorry for the kids who sat behind me in my classes because some of those hats were HUGE, like my giant Boy George/Zorro hat. That thing could have had its own solar system.

Here’s just a quick overview of the collection. More pics and swatches coming soon…

Products mentioned in this video…

  • High-Light Powder in Nude Pink ($32)
  • High-Light Powder in Blush Pink ($32)
  • 127 Split Sided Face Brush ($35)
  • Matte Lipstick in No Faux Pas ($16)
  • Satin Lipstick in Cardinal ($16)
  • Satin Lipstick in Hollywood Cerise ($16)
  • False Lashes Mascara in Extreme Black ($22)
  • Fluidline in Royal Wink ($16)
  • Fluidline in Blue Peep ($16)
  • Fluidline in Blacktrack ($16)

      Hi Sarah,

Thank you! Would you ever wear any of those hats? I’d rock the middle one in a heartbeat. 🙂

The middle one is the most “wearable” one for me and my life, but I think my coworkers would send me to counseling if I showed up to work in it!

That first promo pic terrifies me. It’s like someone’s doily-making Granny took over the Spanish Inquisition! I think the last one is stunning, though. 🙂

You have to find and post some of your old hat pics. The Boy George/Zorro one sounds awesome!

The first one leaves me short of breath! It would definitely NOT be good for my claustrophobia issues!

Let me see if I can find a Boy George/Zorro pic… I wore that hat in my ninth grade school pic. There was a matching vest of course. OH THE ’90s!!!

Tree-saaaay huh? I didn’t know that 🙂 Nude Pink looks lovely on you! I like it. Good to hear that the silver is overspray. Genuine Treasure looks nice too. Actually, I love everything that you’re wearing, lol.

    P.S.: ombre = aaawww-bruh 🙂

Sorry! I meant to write: aaaaaawm-bruh. With an m. Actually, it’s kind of between an a and an o-sound, it’s hard to write phonetically, lol. Maybe if I yell really loud and you listen really hard you can hear me say it…

I would rock any of those hats but I’m particularly fond of the first one. LMAO – I want it for Halloween this year. 🙂

Love your videos, you’re too darn cute! I like your realness!

“…wish I was wearing one of his hats…” TOO FUNNY! and ME TOO!

I KWYM on the Boy George Zorro hat(my sis hated them and said they made everyone look like a thumbtack!). We all had one of those back in the day, along with the little porkpie hats made popular by bands like The English Beat and The Specials. Loving the art deco bedazzled helmet- that is a beautiful piece of costuming fit for a museum display!
