Unsung Heroes: Rouge Bunny Rouge Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner in Blue Roan

November 13th, 2014 by Karen 32 Comments

Rouge Bunny Rouge Blue Roan
Wearing my newest liquid liner love, Rouge Bunny Rouge Satin Eyeliner in Blue Roan ($28)

I’m afraid my pen of Rouge Bunny Rouge Nocturnal Ink Satin Liner in Blue Roan is about to start avoiding me because I’ve become totally obsessed with it. Pretty soon I’ll be knocking on its door at 3 in the morning yelling, “Blue Roan! I love you! Don’t you see?! We’re meant to be together forever!” Neighbors will call the cops and sh*t and complain about the wild-haired woman declaring her love for a liquid liner, but then I’ll just cut out a bunch of words and letters from a magazine and use them to make this note: Karen + Blue Roan = 4 Life!!!

Yeah, this dark navy blue liquid liner is le bomb, and not just because it survived season four of The Gilmore Girls (which I may or may not have marathon-ed in a single day).

Rouge Bunny Rouge Blue Roan
I’m also wearing Bobbi Brown Mini Long-Wear Cream Stick in Smokey Topaz on my lids, IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Palette on my cheeks and Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pussycat on my lips

The liquid flows smoothly and evenly from the flexible felt tip. This pen creates thin and thick lines and flicks faster than you can say, “Karen, you need professional help.” 🙂

The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorite permanent collection products from a variety of bodacious beauty brands.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Blue Roan

And the color? Swoon! Rich, deep and unmistakably blue — not black, not bluish green, not blackish blue, but straight-up rich, dark blue. It’s incredible.

Definitely peep Blue Roan if you have brown, hazel or gray eyes. I think it looks especially amaze-balls with those eye colors. You can find it now at Rouge Bunny Rouge counters and online for $28.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Hi Karen,

That RBR blue eyeliner is terrific. I think it would be a great alternative to black, especially for fair skinned people.

      Hi Eleanor,

Ah, definitely! Thank you for mentioning that. This would look amazing on fair-skinned gals. 🙂

Have you tried anything else from RBR?

LOL. I seriously enjoy reading your blog posts. You are too funny. And you got my attention with this liner! I’ve never tried blue liquid liner, but this looks beautiful! Have you gone through an entire one of these? How long do these liners last?

      Hi Jenny,

I haven’t… yet! I think it will last a long time because the liner is super pigmented. I don’t have to do lots of layering, so that should stretch it out!

      Hey Melissa!

This color is a beauty, for sure. As for liner skills… honestly, it took me a long time to learn how to do halfway decent liquid liner. It’s hard. I have a lot of tricks that make it easier, like running a Q-tip with a little bit of makeup remover or eye cream along the edge of the flick to get the right angle! Once you get the tricks it’s easy peasy.

Are you a liquid liner person? Or more of a gel liner kind of gal.

That’s a good tip. Basically I just need to be on a lucky streak, then and only then will I get that perfect flick, lol 🙂 I’n definitely more of a gel eyeliner kinda girl.

I like gel too — much more control. But I do love the shiny finish you get form liquid liners!

Isn’t this cool??? This is the one that reminds me of the liner you tried a while ago, you know, the one with a slightly bent tip. I love it on you!

what foundation and/or powder have you been using in the last couple of posts, karen? your skin looks different, matte and glowy. love it.
the eyeliner is cool, i have a few navy eyeshadows in palettes that i turn into eyeliner with an illamasqua mixing medium of sorts. this pen would be convenient, but so pricey…

      Hi Lena,

I do a mix of a few different things. I first apply a layer of MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance all over my face. Then I do Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer on my cheeks, nose and chin. Then, I apply Laura Mercier Flawless Fluide Foundation, which I buff out with a kabuki brush sprayed with a little bit of MAC Fix+. I find that this combo works well for me, both in pics and in real life!

thanks karen, will check these products out!

It is so beautiful, I don’t think I have any blue eyeliners. This one would be perfect! Your whole look is gorgeous, the lip colors suits you so well!

This is so gorgeous! I’ve never really done navy eyeliner, for some reason… I tend to go straight to plum. Might have to give it a shot!

Looks lovely on you, but I just don’t think blue liners work for me. I sometimes to for the odd dark brown, or even for forest green or purple, but blue just clashes with my eyes.
And I need to practice my flick after looking at your pictures…

Love this look on you! How do you think the wear compares to Kat Von D’s liquid liner? And I’m right there with you on Gilmore Girls, I’m just a few episodes into season 4 and can’t stop won’t stop. Somehow I missed it the first time around – maybe because it was pre-DVR? 🙂

      Season 4 is SO GOOD!

I haven’t tried Kat Von D’s liquid liner, so I can’t compare. Do you like it? And do I need to give it a go?

I really love the colour and it suits you too. I love the Rouge Bunny Rouge products – especially their Chronos palette – but from afar as we cannot get it in Australia. This is definitely a fantastic product.
