Three Custom Color Specialists Seychelles Collection, Take Me Away

May 14th, 2009 by Karen 22 Comments

Add Seychelles, Africa to the list of dream vacation places. I spent a good hour this morning ogling pics of this tropical paradise of white beaches and granite rock formations, located just off the coast of Madagascar. The urge to check out the place was brought on by — surprise, surprise — makeup!

seychelles-all-5

I blame this bout of wanderlust on the three-piece Seychelles Collection by Three Custom Color Specialists. Inspired by the colors of the Seychelles Islands, the spring palette of brown, green, fuchsia, peach and pink shades includes makeup for the eyes and lips.

Eyeshadow in Coco De Mer ($23): This shimmery golden coco brown flashes to emerald green according to the light. The color reminds me of a toned-down, golden version of MAC Eyeshadow in Club, a duochrome that flashes from brown to green to blue to gray. I can see this color looking absolutely smokin’ with green, gold and bronze shades, like MAC Paint Pot in Delft, MAC Eyeshadow in Humid and MAC Eyeshadow in Amber Lights. The texture of Coco De Mer feels soft and finely milled, and it applies and blends with the ease of Shu Uemura’s power shadows.

Lipgloss in Peacock Flower ($22): Peacock Flower is a peachy pink that flashes to violet. It’s the most unique color I’ve seen for lips in awhile, and one of my new faves. The duochrome quality reminds me of MAC’s Lollipop Lovin’ lipstick, a funky but fun coral with hints of green released earlier this year. I like the feel of the thin and non-sticky formula, which packs a lot of shine.

Sheer Lipstick in Frangipani ($22): This shimmery, sheer fuchsia with golden flecks of glitter is free of taste or scent. The formula feels moisturizing and light on my lips.

This collection could easily transition into summer, and the colors would pair well with any of the current bronze and teal summer collections, like Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess or Urban Decay’s Get Baked Palette.

While the makeup is on the pricy side, I think you get what you pay for in terms of texture and color payoff. You can save a few bucks with a special deal on the Three Custom Colorists website by purchasing all three items in the collection for $50. That’s $17 less than you’d pay if you bought each item individually — not too shabby, tabby.

If you’re a fan of high-end, indy makeup lines, the Seychelles collection might be worth checking out.

Welcome to the Hotel Cattyfornia

tabs-thinking
Such a lovely place; such a lovely face.

I’m leaving tomorrow for Hawaii, so early this morning I dropped off Tabs at the kitty hotel. He’ll be vacationing there for the next few days. I felt really sad when I drove away, and I got to thinking it would be nice if they had kitty iChat at the hotel so that cat moms could stay in touch.

Please tell me that there are crazy cat ladies out there who also think this would be awesome…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Yadi,

Omigosh, if I had three screens I swear I’d probably go nuts. Is it very hard to focus? I’d be opening up HELLA programs (and cat pictures, too).

LOL — I can see Tabs, Diva and Jazmine pawing the monitors during their “kitty conference.”

Thanks for the well wishes. I still have yet to pack (boo). We’re leaving at 5:45 in the morning, which means I gotta get up at 4:45!

Frangipani Sheer looks so pretty. Aw man, Karen, I forgot about your trip. I hope you have fun, but I’m gonna be like a fiend waiting for you to come back. I love your blog. I’ve been coming here for months now and you don’t know how much you’ve helped me with learning how to apply makeup :).

      Hi Shontay,

It looks very pretty on! I’ll try to do a full face with it on soon.

Aww, you are so sweet… don’t worry, the blog will still be going strong. There’s going to be some guest posts and I’ll be checking in every day. 🙂

Well, Hawaii is probably just as exotic as Seychelles.. so just imagine that you’re there when you get to the island. The eyeshadow looks promising.. I just can work with Club because the wrong color of the duochrome shows up on my lids! 🙁

Anyway, have fun on your trip..

      Hi Luv J,

I’ve heard that happens to some people with Club. Do you get a lot of muddy gray and brown? Maybe layer it on top of a green or a shimmery blue…

Karen you have no idea what a crazy cat lady I am. My cats all have their own VOICES and they talk to us in them. Told you I was nuts 🙂

Have a fab time in Hawaii I am so jealous!

      Hi Vampy Varnish,

LOL, that’s funny, because sometimes I can hear Tabs’ voice too, especially when he gives me dirty looks. Like when he’s hungry I can totally hear him saying, “WOMAN! Feed me gravy!” Or when he doesn’t want to be pet I swear he says, “B*tch, please!” LOLOL!

Do any of your cats have accents? That’s venturing into true CCL territory. 🙂

When I go away on trips my parents put the dog on speaker phone for me. I think puppy-cam would be a brilliant idea!

Have fun on your trip! Stay safe and wear lots of sunscreen!

      Hi Shiny,

So cute! I bet the pup goes CRAZY when your voice comes through, too!

Methinks we’re on the edge of a brilliant moneymaking idea: iCat and iDog virtual chat.

Beautiful scenery, and lovely makeup! I really like the look of the lippies! I’d love to try on the gloss, but I don’t know of any 3C counters around here. Do you?

Aaww, I feel your kitty-withdrawal pain! Whenever I’m on vacay and I see a cat, I’m always really desperate for it to let me get some skritches and petting in! I always miss my furry little divas!

    Aloha and safe journey! 🙂

      Hi Glosslizard,

It is quite challenging here on the West side to find 3C. There’s one location in San Mateo:

      Bombshell
      25 West 25th Avenue, #8
      San Mateo, CA 94403
      650 212 BOMB

LOL, I wish I had the last four digits of that phone number.

Kitty iChat would be so cute lol… I’m not necessarily a cat girl but pets are definitely worth all the missing. Be safe on your trip there and do post when you get there with awesome photos:)

      Hi Kim,

I never knew I could miss a cat so much until I met Tabs!

I would call his kitty chat: iCat, LOL!

How have you been? Has your week been good?

I would need a dog ichat…all day and all night. Zena has looks that just seem to make her talk. It would be completely creepy if she could talk Human, but her looks say volumes. There’s the “More belly rubs! Pleasepleaseplease!!!” and the “I <3 you” look and a ton of other ones. I don’t think I could go on vacation without her. My family would need a pet-friendly hotel; we love Zena too much.

Ok well I am there then because yes, Sammy has a British accent. Think Stewie from Family Guy. I am telling you I need help hahaha!

Oh my dog has a voice too but when I met my hubbie he already had it, so he’s nutso too!

    Hi Karen,
At our kitty hotel, you can check a box if you want your cat to be able to use the “business center” and send an email every day. Of course I always check the box!

    Have a safe trip!

Hi Karen! I love your blog and read it every day at lunch. I have a tabby too, and my boyfriend and I always joke that we wish she had a cell phone so that we could call her when we are away. Just to make sure she is doing okay. LOL – this from a man who wasn’t a “cat person” until he met my Lulu. Looks like there are lots of us crazy cat people out there! Enjoy your trip!!!
