Tom Ford Lips and Boys, 25 New Fall 2016 Shades: The Creams

November 15th, 2016 by Karen 21 Comments

The five new Tom Ford Lips & Boys Fall 2016 Cream finish lipstick shades from the left: Alexander, Bradley, Jack, Ashton and Mitchell

One of these shades is called Bradley, and that makes me think of Bradley Cooper, so now I’m wondering if Bradley Cooper could actually wear this shade…

I don’t know. I think it might wash him out… He might need something warmer. 🙂

On that note, Bradley Cooper should probably wear more lipstick. I mean, I would if I had a lipstick named after me.

Tom Ford Lips & Boys
$36 each, 50 shades, 25 of them new for Fall 2016 (10 matte, 10 metallic, 5 cream)
Coming soon to select Sephora stores and Sephora.com #TFLIPSANDBOYS @SEPHORA

These five little lippies, like the 20 other new lipsticks being added to the Tom Ford Lips & Boys collection, are all named after different dudes that Tom admires. These are the five new creams (and here are the mattes and metallics).

Tom Ford Lips & Boys 50-Piece Set — The complete collection housed in an exclusive black lacquered Tom Ford case: $1,950 (side note: holy sh*t!).

Tom Ford Lips & Boys Three-Piece Container — A custom set of any three clutch-size lipsticks displayed in a luxe carrying case: $108 for your choice of any three shades.

“Tom Ford presents Lips & Boys, the third adaptation of the originative Lip Color collection named for the men he finds admirable and inspiring. The 50-piece lipstick lineup unleashes 25 new boys including 10 modern matte finishes.

“From nuanced nudes like Bradley and Alexander to the unabashed bold reds of Nicholas and Dominic, each transformative shade amplifies a woman’s individuality while inciting an insatiable desire to suit her every mood.

“Showcased in sleek mahogany and gold cases, each tube is compact enough to slip inside the smallest of clutches.

“The clutch-size lipsticks of this decadent wardrobe contain rich, specially-treated pigments blended to deliver pure color payoff in three ultra-kissable finishes: matte, cream, and metallic.”

Mitchell (Cream)

First things first — Tom Ford’s creams are definitely not drugstore. I’ll say that about them. These are $36 each (and they’re minis!), but I think they look like they’re worth at least that much. They apply evenly without any patchiness — none — and these five creams are highly pigmented. The formula lasts from 3-4 hours.

Basically, in terms of creamy lipsticks, these are some top-notch dudes.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I wonder if he will ever run out of boys to admire. I mean, he has a pretty decent amount of names already used for this collection. It seems he is a big admirer.

I love the color Jack — definitely going on my wish list. Mitchell looks stunning on your lips. If it leans a bit cool, it would look good on me, too… and here I’ve just bought all those sets of minis from MAC and Smashbox, you’d think I have enough lipsticks already!

      Hey Fran,

How are you liking the mini MAC lipsticks? Any colors in particular that you love?

They’re ALL good, Karen! That’s the amazing thing with these sets… in most lip color sets, one-third to half are colors that really won’t work for me. The only color I thought might not work is Lady Danger, because it does have quite a bit of orange in it, but it DOES work, it’s got enough red in it that I can pull it off. My most favorite, though, are Heroine (of course, that one I already had!) and Rebel.

I did get reminded that MAC lipsticks feel slightly uncomfortable/drying on me (except for the Mineralize Rich formula), but wearing a bit of MAC Prep + Prime lip underneath takes care of that for me.

I’m so glad you like them! I really feel that this year with the color combinations, especially with the mini lipstick sets, MAC was very thoughtful and purposeful and they included all the colors that work for almost everybody.

Lady Danger is *mwwwwah* so beautiful and one of those very distinct MAC colors. I swear, I could be walking down the street, and if someone’s walking toward me wearing Lady Danger, I’m like, “AH-HA! Lady Danger.” I don’t know if you like wearing winged liner, but it looks really good with a black winged liner with a little bit of smudging on the top part of the liner, like a sort of subtle gradient effect on the line.

lol, Karen, my lids are so saggy and hooded that winged liner really looks pretty sad! So I often do an “outer-corner-lifted” look with my eyeshadow, instead.

I like to wear Lady Danger when I’m wearing a (rare) warm-toned article of clothing, like a leopard print top or my orange/red corduroy miniskirt, or when I’m wearing jeans and a black sweater with bronze eyeshadow. It works with silver eyeshadow, though, too. I feel like, at my age, bright lipstick works just fine any day of the week 🙂 Really dark lipstick is a bit more dramatic, since my coloring is fair/light.

Do you remember the brand Prescriptives? I haven’t seen them around in ages. My first nice lipstick was from them. Ashton reminds me a lot of it. Very close to my natural lip color, but richer and a wee bit darker. And in this case, creamier. 🙂 Might be worth a little splurge.

      Hi Amy,

I sure do! I bought foundation and powder from them back in the day. I used to also wear their perfume, Calyx. (Remember that one?)

That 50 piece set is just cray-cray! I don’t think all 50 shades would even look good on me. I wonder just how many of those sets they sell. Still, there a few shades I will be swatching in person. Love me some TF lippies!!!

I love them all! My wallet hates to admit that I have 2 Tom Ford lipsticks. Cost per wear though…they’ve taken over my entire collection of MAC 🙁

I’m still going back and forth with these in my little internet buggy, and I am having such a hard time choosing between colors!! Ashton and Mitchell?? Aagh!!

And then your swatches are crazy lovely… I saw Jack swatched somewhere else, and I thought no way, that’ll be too bright for me in person… but then I look at your pretty berry-colored lips… and somehow it’s not all that bright at all, and definitely not garish by any means!! Did you do a one-swipe application??

Karen, I have a question for you about Bradley.

Do you happen to know how it compares to the VB Brazilian Nude lipstick?

I have pretty pigmented lips like you and I love the type of nude it is on you but worry it might be too light/pull into my lip lines too much.

I love the VB one, though…

    Thanks!
