L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Ice ($12.99, one of three True Match Lumi shades)

This is the kind of high-beam headlights liquid highlighter I can totally see Beyonce rocking with head-to-toe leather on stage. It’s L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Ice ($12.99, one of three shades), and it’s bold, brash and shines so brightly that you can see it from across a room.

My first thought when these came out earlier this summer was, “Hm! Looks like a drugstore dupe of BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors.” Because they are similar. Both are liquid highlighters for use under your foundation or tinted moisturizer (so the shimmer peeks through your base), or on top of your foundation or tinted moisturizer (so the shimmer’s more obvious), or mixed in with your foundation or other base, and then applied all over yo’ pretty face (for an all-over glow).

It’s available in three shades — Rose (for people with yellow, peach, pink or blue) Golden (for peachy or yellow undertones) and Ice (for pink and blue undertones).

My skin tone is warm (MAC NC42), and I chose to try Ice…partly because I just like the pink color. 🙂

Work quickly with these because they dry fast — like, in less than a minute — which is much less time than it takes the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfectors to dry (those stay wet and malleable for closer to five minutes). If I’m not working like I’ve got a fire under my @ss, then I end up with patchy shimmer.

And dry time isn’t the only way in which True Match Lumi and BECCA’s Skin Perfectors differ.

L’Oreal’s more dramatically frosty finish glows more intensely than BECCA’s, which more closely resembles a pearly sheen.

I like the True Match Lumi drama, but my dry patches don’t, because the shine showcases those dry areas, making them look even drier.

On a positive note, though, at least Lumi doesn’t make my pores look terribly ginormous. So that’s a good thing. 🙂

I think I’m gonna stick to BECCA’s Skin Perfectors for now because I like my liquid highlighters on the subtler side, but if you like bright, bold frosty finishes, give Lumi Liquid Glow a try.

PRICE: $12.99 each, and one of three shades

Hmm… Nope. I really love the original liquid Lumi highlighters, but these new launches seem like they’d be way too frosty/chunky for me!

I definitely didn’t like this one, way to frosty. But I did like the Rose and Golden one, they are nice and warm and actually glowy not frosty.

Wow that’s frosty! Not really my kind of thing, I prefer a more subtle glow or pearl finish.

Way too frosty for my taste. As a drugstore alternative to BECCA’s Skin Perfectors I use Revlon Skinlights, which are pretty subtle.

My go-to liquid highlighter are still MAC’s lustre drops. I’d love to try some Becca, but alas, nearly impossible to get over here. These look too harsh and frosty for me.

I picked up Ice, but I haven’t tried it yet. I did a little swatch, and it is super intense. I don’t think it’s an all-over face product. Rose and Gold were too dark for my vampire skin, though the Rose powder is fine.

Hmmm, seems quite frosty. Definitely not the product for me.

Was thinking about trying one of the L’Oreal shades but I don’t think I will now. However it sounds like the BECCA Skin Perfectors would be a good option. Will definitely have to check those out.

A little too frosty for this gal. Speaking of Becca, I forgot to tell you that I “lightly” dusted some Shimmering Skin Perfector on a couple of weeks ago before the boys and I were headed out somewhere. I was giving one of them a hard time because he had a little something on his face (most likely chocolate) and said “um, why don’t you try washing your face?”. He laughed and said “why don’t *you*?”. I was confused and said “my face IS clean” and he replied “well, it looks like you washed it in a bucket of GLITTER”. HAHA! I guess I was a little heavy handed with the powder but we got a good laugh out of it. 🙂

Oh no! This don’t seem too right! My skin is intimidated by that chunky glitter! 🙁

Hmm this one seems to be a bit more frosty than the Rose and Golden ones I have. Lucky for me, this is way too cool for my skin tone and would come off ashy so I can skip it. I haven’t tried mine just yet but I did swatch them and I really liked the way they looked. Hopefully I like the way they perform too

I am reading all these negative reviews. I haven’t met a shimmer or glitter that I didn’t love. I have many, many highlighter of all price points. I am definitely going to check theses out. I think the Revlon is not sparkly enough for me! Lol

I think it’s not bad for drugstore.
