Makeup Brush Storage Ideas: Cute Jars and Vintage Glasses

December 5th, 2013 by Karen 14 Comments

Jars (improv makeup brush holders) with chalkboard labels ($10 each), available now at Anthropologie

I can’t believe I never thought of this before. I was at Anthropologie earlier today when it hit me. Lots of the cute jars and vintage style glassware in the home decor section could totally double as makeup brush holders!

My faves are these jars with the chalkboard labels…

I want an entire jar dedicated to 217s, LOL!

As a side, Tabs would also like to remind the cat ladies reading this that these jars would be purrfect (his spelling, not mine) for storing and organizing treats. 🙂

A few more ideas, all around the $10-14 mark…

You could store brushes with longer handles in these ($10 each)
They also come in blue (also $10)
More options to match room with blue accents/accessories ($12 each)
Vintage-looking greens ($14 each)
Another possible option for brushes with long handles…
These cute frosted glasses might be good for shorter handled brushes ($12 each)
They also come in blue

I always look in dollar stores for really cheap kitchen goods to use as makeup storage. They sell a lot of glasses that wouldn’t last too long if used regularly, but holding brushes in a bathroom won’t do much to them!

Hmm, not really my cup of tea (no pun intended :-)).

Those are cute! The Container Store is also awesome for makeup storage ideas. I get those plastic shoeboxes for $1.79 and store unswatched nail polishes in them.

I have been looking for something for my makeup brushes forever. I was using a plastic tray from the Container Store, but I really didn’t like it. I like the Ball canning jars, but never remembered to buy one. I finally settled on a Bonne Maman jar (after I ate every last bit of jam, of course). I like these, though! Nice colors.

I need more brush storage, my collection is getting unwieldy! I have an old (clean) brass spittoon that I’ve stored my brushes in, but I have way too many to fit them all in there now!

Oh, I love those $12 blue glasses! Those are so pretty! I actually just ordered a makeup brush set from Sephora that comes with a stand (http://www.sephora.com/holiday-light-show-brush-set-P382526?skuId=1535814) because I was tired of storing my brushes in a pouch, so I’m hoping that the stand will work out!

I’m a sucka for colored glass but most of ours is vintage. I’ve been collecting for a LONG LONG time. LOL
THis colorerd glass, while not really vintage, still has a place in my heart. 🙂

I use one of those crocks that are meant to hold your kitchen tools and filled it up with those rocks you get for aquaria so that my shorter brushes can hang out with the longer ones.

I love this idea! I currently store my brushes in oversized Hello Kitty mugs my mom found at Walmart. I’m looking for something more sleek now. The mugs are convenient and hold a lot of brushes but they’re bulky. I need something that’ll take up less space

Omg. This is so crazy because I will post this week about makeup storage and I bought to lil but deep vases from the Dollar Store for my makeup brushes. I have to put the brushes wherever I can. #fail
