My Lady Date Last Weekend, Complete With Ulta Mini Haul

Going on a combination lunch and makeup date with a friend is one of the best ways to recharge ye olde batteries, I must say.

I mean, you’re combining two amazing things — three, actually — food, friends and makeup. That’s a perfect recipe for battery charging fun, right there.

I went on one last weekend with my buddy Marisol. We started at Sol Food in San Rafael for lunch (I had the shrimp po’ boy and fried plantain chips again), and then, full and happy, headed over to a new Ulta store a couple miles away.

Marisol wanted a tube of Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, but unfortch, they were sold out (she did end up finding a tube later at Target). I executed a three-piece mini haul with Ulta Baked Eyeshadow Trio in Wall Street, Ulta Lip Crayon in Coral Kiss and Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Make Me Pink.

The Maybelline Make Me Pink, I picked up because it was the color Marisol was wearing. I saw it on her lips and thought, “Have to have it!” 🙂

Do you live around here? Have you been to that new Ulta store yet off 101 in San Rafael?

It’s…BIG! And everything’s all shiny and new.

Did you do any makeup shopping at Ulta or anyplace else last weekend? Inquiring minds want to know…

I rarely get to have a shopping date with a girlfriend. None of them like to shop. We do like to eat, but a tube of lipstick lasts longer than a slice of cake. Easier to take off too 😉 Looks like you had a great time! Not too much shopping recently, just trips to the store to swatch. I go in with a list, swatch, take a pic, and leave. Then think it over before going back to make my purchases.

I don’t know too many people who like to go makeup shopping besides my mom. We went to Sephora at Columbia Mall a few weeks ago, and got some goodies (I used a gift card I had gotten). I got Nars Galapagos (been loving it for a simple brown smokey eye, and mixing it with MAC Club, Woodwinked, and Mulch), a Benefit kit that has High Beam and their Cheek Tints for $30, and fresh Sugar lips in Rose. At Ulta I love NYX, Laura Geller, and any hair care product brands I can’t find elsewhere. They also sell the Body Shop body butters. I’ve always loved that Ulta sells a mix of high end and low end products.

I bought a bunch of Tree Hut stuff at Ulta the other day, they had it Buy 2 get 1 free. I got a Hawaiian kukui nut body butter, almond honey shower wash and body cream. I’m now obsessed!! I just got a 20% coupon in the mail today so I’ll be headed back sometime soon. This time for makeup and/or hair stuff. 😉

Makeup/lunch dates with friends are SO much fun! I’m actually going to lunch and Ulta with a friend on Thursday, and I’m super excited, because she loves makeup as much as I do. Most people get tired of browsing the makeup aisles and want to move on to the next store, but she and I browse at the same pace. That’s so important LOL!

I’ve never tried Ulta’s eye shadow, but the green in that trio is exactly the shade of green I’ve been wanting, so I might have to pick that up! Thanks for sharing your haul, Karen!

Ulta is the best! I do most of my beauty shopping there, they have an awesome rewards program (SO MUCH full-size free product!). I’ve even started getting my hair done at the salon for points (they’re pretty good!). Anyway, my favorite makeup shopping friend lives over an hour away, so we don’t get to hang out as much.

Make Me Pink is so pretty! I just recently made a drugstore haul and Hot Plum was one of my lippie picks. I’ve only swatched it but it feels so creamy! Think I’m going to slip it on now lol

I have make me pink, it’s very pretty indeed, but it’s actually mauve :))i like how creamy it is at first but then it dries on my lips and i don’t like it anymore 🙁 as i have very dry and flaky lips

I wish we had big stores full of makeup here 😀

I also don’t have friends I can really shop with. One of the girls in my ballet class is really fun to go through stores with, but I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like!

I love shopping at Ulta. My store is right down the street from where I work so a lunchtime retail therpy session can happen almost any day. LOL
I actually go to Ulta to hang with like minded individuals. I’ve made friends with almost everyone who works there. The SAs and managers are always cheerful, helpful, and above all FUN.
Most of my friends couldn’t give a rat’s patoot about makeup shopping so we don’t do that very often. I have one friend who talks lippie/eyeliner shop with me but that’s about it.
I’m always the teacher so I love your reviews and pics to help me decide if I’ll really like a product.
