Made Since 1982

November 8th, 2013 by Karen 26 Comments

Weird and cool.

The powder I use to set my concealer (MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium) popped out of its pan a few days ago. I’m not sure how or why it happened. I’m just happy it popped out in one piece, to be honest.

I’ve used it almost daily for the past four years!

A little dab ‘ll do ya. I use a small amount under my eyes to keep my concealer from scooting, and it works great. Never looks like cake frosting and doesn’t settle into my fine lines.

When I picked up the powder, after my heart resumed beating, I turned it over and found some writing on the bottom.

It says “Made Since 1982” in a typeface that kind of reminds me of The Terminator movies.

I wonder if this is embossed on every MSF pan…

That is so cool, it looks like it came out of a time capsule. Now I want to try and pop mine out to see if it has the same thing.

That was the year that the founders started selling their cosmetics to artists, all though they didn’t officially launch the brand and open a store until 1984.

These looks like the writing on the pan that the MSFs were baked in…

COOL! You should send it in to MAC. Maybe it’s like a Willy Wonka deal. 😀

I depot all of my mineralized MAC eyeshadows and they all say “MADE IN ITALY” in that same font. Kinda wish I had gotten the 1982 one though, since that was the year I was born 🙂

“Made Since 1982″…I live in Toronto (where MAC was born, yay!) and this story made me remember the very first time I saw and purchased MAC products. The two Franks themselves had set up a booth at the Canadian National Exhibition and they had maybe 6 lipsticks and 6 nail colours at the time. Circa…yep, 1982 🙂 Very cool…

That’s so interesting! When I dropped my Candlelight MSF last year, I didn’t notice anything. But now I’m so curious if I just missed it! Also, I laughed unnecessarily hard with the “Fussy Since 2006”! Ohhh Tabs!

That is so cool and very time capsule-like. I don’t own any MAC yet but I’ll now be tempted to check the back when I do get a powder product. 🙂
