Isn’t Tarte MATTEnificent?

Tarte beMATTEnificent Eye & Cheek Palette

OK, I can’t be the only one weirdly obsessed with the new Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette ($36).

Right…?

Just look at it!

So purple… So pretty… Like purple driftwood.

Trippy

Matte magnificence awaits inside this nine-pan palette.

How silky are these powders? Well, very, if you ask Tabs. I scared the heck out of him today while he was napping when I spontaneously blurted, “SMOOTH!” as I was swatching.

Hehe. 🙂

Cool-toned cuties, this one’s for you (she said, pouring some of her Vitamin Water on the ground). It’s a really cool-toned palette.

I’m so jealous, yo! Methinks I’ll have a tough time pulling this off with my warm skin tone, but that won’t stop me from trying. That deep purple? Totally callin’ my name…

It’s available now ($36).

In other news…

So this has absolutely nothing to do with Tarte Be MATTEnificent, but I was rocking out to this song while I typed this post.

Two words: Debbie Gibson.

Children of the ’80s, throw your hands up!

Ah, the joys of iTunes shuffle… Remember Between the Lines? It’s one of those quintessentially ’80s songs with a saxophone solo and a catchy hook. Very sweet, too. Someone pass the karaoke mic! 🙂

The packaging is pretty! The design is like those glass/stone things – coasters? Okay I don’t know what they are..but I see them in a lot of souvenir shops 😛 The purple would be the only color I could use in this, though…

I’m having a hard time with this one…I want it just for the packaging! Try wearing cheeks and lips with a warm undertone to help counter the cool eyeshadows. Always seems to do the trick for me. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

same here, I am also NC42 similar to Karen so I always wait to see any colors on her before I even think about purchasing. this may be too chalky for us warm tone gals.

Everything looks so pretty, but I do not have good luck with Tarte eyeshadows.

I love the packaging hahahaha. I find as I am getting older I am favoring neutrals and some mattes over fun-colored eyeshadows (though I still love my fun, sparkly colors and was seriously contemplating those Stila foil shadows in Sephora last week… I may end up buying one). As for rediscovering old favorite music, I just rediscovered Sting’s Desert Rose and I had loved that song as a kid/teen.

Damn you, Karen!!! Your Debbie Gibson song has sucked me into a You Tube vortex of 80’s pop girls! After exhausting my old Debbie favorites (Only in my Dreams, sucka!),I moved on to Tiffany, Martika, and now I’ll NEVER get this stuff outta my head!

This totally wasn’t on my radar, but I have been wanting an all matte neutralish palette and this fits the bill perfectly! I’m definitely going to have to pick this up!

How did I miss this yesterday when I was spending my 20% off FF coupon at Ulta and I was standing at the Tarte counter for quite a while?? I saw it online yesterday and had a conniption (does anyone still say that?). I went to the Tarte site, signed up for emails & got a 20% off coupon. I’m buying this one: cool-toned, matte, I’m there!

    Hi Karen,

I’m not one to typically go for colorful packaging, however this cover is stunning! I’m a fan of cool shadows (so what’s not to love?). I haven’t tried a Tarte eyeshadow in quite some time, so I may have to run to the store to dabble a bit…

Well, now I definitely want one… Even though my skin tone is about the same as yours. 🙂 I haven’t purchased the Naked 3 palette because I’m trying to avoid purchasing more shimmer shadows, and this looks like a great fit. I have the Naked Basics, but I so rarely use it (maybe because it’s so neutral that I’m not visually enticed to “play eyeshadows,” LOL).

Ah, Debbie Gibson. I can’t think of her without also thinking of Tiffany. Remember those videos? Didn’t everyone want to sing in a mall??!! On an old lady note, I kind of miss the poppy optimism of music back then. The themes and language in pop music has, um, changed. HAHA!

The packaging is an image of a purple agate, specifically this purple agate:

    http://www.123rf.com/photo_6596992_polished-slice-of-banded-purple-agate-a-translucent-cryptocrystalline-variety-of-quartz-one-of-natur.html

It seems that they used this stock image. It is beautiful packaging though.

Well, I’ll be damned, jessica! They squished the aspect ratio a tad, but I think you’re right. That’s very interesting. Thank you for pointing it out.

Holy smokes that packaging. The geoscientist in me had to come point out that it’s a photo of a beautiful agate, but I see everyone else has already beat me to the punch 🙂
I already tend to buy beer and wine that has geology-inspired packaging so why not my makeup? Maybe Tarte is starting a trend here… I hope!

I’m so bummed I swatched this in store and while it is a beautiful palette it just didn’t go well with my nc42 skin either. even the blush was too lite. they palette size was very impressive tho, so I can’t wait to see another one come out in more colors 😀
