This Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge Nail Lacquer Is…Shameless

Tom Ford Shameless Nail Lacquer

For guys/dolls with an unabashed weakness for classic creamy reds (and who don’t mind dropping a little extra cheddar on their nail polishes) comes the new $32 Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Shameless.

It’s one of two polishes in the new Jasmine Rouge holiday color collection, available now at Tom Ford Beauty counters and online.

“Introducing Tom Ford’s audacious new red lip and nail pairings: two duos of classic crimson or sumptuous cherry shades inspired by the daring femininity of his private blend fragrance, Jasmin Rouge. They evoke the scent’s decadent, spiced floral notes and iconic red bottle, and capture its mood of hedonistic glamour.

“Experience the power of crimson with Tom Ford Lip Color in Rouge Fatal and Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Shameless. Indulge in rich cherry with Tom Ford Lip Color Vampire Kiss and Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Trophy Wife.”

— Tom Ford Beauty

Inspired by a fragrance? Does that mean the polishes are scented?

Well, nope. They most certainly aren’t.

But it is crazy pigmented. Even though I’m wearing two coats in the swatch above (force of habit!), I’m sure I could’ve gotten away with one.

The smooth, flawless formula is a cinch to apply with the easy-to-control brush. Granted…it probably should be for the price.

Gorgeous color, though.

That’s a pretty red. A little pricey for me, though!

      Hi Trisha,

Still might be nice if you’re in the mood for a splurge.

Happy Monday! What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Lots of food! I’m heading to my mom’s for Thanksgiving. I’m bringing bacon-wrapped sweet potato bites and a Chanukah cake. 😛

This shade is gorgeous! I’m a total sucker for red nail polishes, this one looks extra luxurious. Plus the name is really great.

Now that’s one pretty red polish perfect for the holidays. Just ouch for the price though – I guess I’m sticking with my Greedy Guts from Laqa&Co – have you tried this shade yet?

Though I’m usually relentlessly positive and complimentary on this site I am going to have to, for the first time, vote a thumbs down here for Tom Ford’s nail polish. I have absolutely no problem paying a lot for makeup, even a crazy, outrageous amount, but it has to be very special, unique, and worth the dough – usually something that no one else is making. Good examples are anything from Guerlain’s Meteorite Collection, Shiseido Benefiance Night Cream, Bare Escentuals Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Hypnotist (bought almost 60 bucks worth of stuff JUST to get the gloss), or Chanel’s original Vamp polish from the mid-90s.

So the Ford polishes are nice, yes, have good coverage, sure, but the colors are, honestly, pretty run of the mill reds that can be duplicated with an equally good formula that costs half (or less than half !) the price of the Jasmine Rouge Collection. The *one* thing that could have elevated this from “Meh” to “Must Have” would have been an original scent (as the PR implies with very misleading language) but there IS no scent ! What the what !?!

I’m not going to be a complete Debbie Downer here so I’ll perk up with some superstars from my recent Sephora haul – beautiful Urban Decay lipstick in Naked (Thanks for the tip, Karen !), great coverage Benefit Fake Up concealer in Light 01, and awesome Bliss hand cream in Blood Orange-White Pepper.

Love to Tabs and Happy Thanksgiving to one and all <3

Ohhh, she’s a beaut! Definitely a colour that can be found at the drugstores for a mere fraction of the TF price though.
