Working On My Fitness

October 10th, 2011 by Karen 25 Comments

Picked up a couple new workout DVDs from Jillian Michaels recently. I find it funny how she’s pointing in the pic on the right, like she’s poking my muffin top, haha! I haven’t tried either of them yet (truth: I haven’t mustered up the courage yet), but when I do I’ll let you know if they’re any good.

Got any good fitness DVD recs for me? I need to SWEAT!

Jillian Michaels is pretty hardcore. I got really into the 30 Day Shred two years ago. That stuff is HARD. It makes me hate her a little, but not really. 😉

Absolutely! I’ve been doing TurboFire, Turbo Jam, ChaLEAN Extreme, and Insanity over the last year and dropped 50 lbs +. I love them so much I became a Beahcbody coach (basically a rep). Message me if you’d like some more information, but you can also check out my blog for reviews on those DVD sets. They are awesome because they have a meal plan and schedules, plus they are fun (at least the Chalene Johnson ones)!

I love my Yoga Meltdown DVD. There are two workouts and I never have really liked Yoga till this Jillian Michaels video, its hard enough for you to really feel like you accomplished something!

I love both of these! The six pack abs one is a little weird but no more trouble zones is da best! I usually will do two of the circuits in the dvd after a run.

I also do KettleWorx and the guy has a super weird accent but I think it works well. It’s nice to change it up. I also did some ButtBible workouts when they were on demand and loved them (but I think those dvds are expensive)!

I don’t have a DVD to recommend, but check out the site Bodyrock.tv. Freddy & Zuzana have tons of workouts that change constantly. If you don’t have the equipment, there are loads more to do instead. The only piece of equipment that I think you will definitely need is a timer. The timer that Zuzana uses is available as an Iphone app for free. My diet sucks at the moment, so I don’t see my abs, but I can certainly feel them 🙂 Good luck!

I did her 30-day Shred and am now doing her Ripped in 30. She’s hardcore but I like a workout that’s quick and painful liker hers 😉

Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been thinking about getting some new workout DVDs and I’ve heard the Jillian Michael’s ones are good.

I’ve used the Kathy Smith Kathy Timesaver: Cardio Fat Burner DVD before, and it’s a good 20-minute aerobic workout. If you have Netflix, they have a decent selection of workout DVDs and some of them are available for instant-play.

Good for you girl! Keep going with all your work-outs. Not only is it good for your @ss, but wonderful for your body. I’m a little jealous – i’ve been having a hard time getting motivated.
I did JM’s 30 day shred about 2 years ago. It was tough but good. I lost 9 pounds in 30 days.

      Hi Shannon,

Love the 30 Day Shred… it’s brutal, but you see results fast.

Hmm, can I do anything to help you get motivated? Maybe we just all need to bribe ourselves with shoes, LOL!

I love the whole Tae Bo series. I got in shape so fast. Zumba is also a lot of fun.

I like the 10 Minute Solution series. There are lots of different types of workouts and you can choose anything from 10 – 50 mins. The Ultimate Bootcamp is exercise enough every 10 min section that if I only have time to do 1 section I don’t feel too bad. I’ve also started using NYC Ballet Workout which is cool but takes an hour. Denise Austin does some fun DVDs too, but some people might find her kind of annoying – the great thing on her DVD is that you can do it without instructions. I’m also a fan of Jillian’s Yoga DVD.

Rodney Yee’s yoga workouts can be intense. I like Ballet Strength by Jennifer Galardi.

Yeah I must agree with the Beachbody programs. Some are really hardcore like Insanity and Turbo Fire. Now you also have Insanity Asylum and coming soon P90X2.

I have done a couple of them and they really make you sweat, but you feel so good afterwards.

They have all kinds of workouts from beginners to advanced. And they change them up every month.

Karen, you are going to have a love-hate relationship with No More Trouble Zones. It’s killer but it’s an awesome workout. Jillian is no joke when it comes to working out. Good luck 🙂

      Hi Tina,

Thanks! I know I’m going to need it. I do her Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism workout and it is KILLER. Have you tried that one? I have to really psych myself up to do it.

I’ve tried her 30-Day Shred and Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. I thought I was going to die doing them and never lasted the entire program. I just got a Pilates book + DVD which I’m going to start. My problem is definitely with being diligent, but you don’t seem to have that issue with all the working out you do! 🙂

I have done Turbo Jam for years, but nothing has worked like Turbo Fire! Soulmate workout for sure and is so fun I actually look forward to it. I also add in ChaLEAN Extreme for weights. :). I have 30 day shred and that’s a great workout, buy to boring for my liking. Have fun! I think working out at home is the best. No one to judge!

This is a really good workout. It’s geared a little more to advanced exercisers, but the choreography is fairly basic and you will definately feel this the next day. There are three workouts that combine toning and aerobics together which are about a half an hour each. This way, you’re burning fat and toning muscles at the same time. It’s a little challenging, but fun and effective.
