From Runway to Realway: Red Hot Lips and Shimmery Teal Eyes

September 17th, 2009 by Karen 54 Comments

agent-provocateur-show

New York Fashion Week is just about over, but I’m not ready to let go quite yet.

Today I had some time during my lunch break to play, so I tried to re-create the makeup from last week’s Agent Provocateur runway show.

Inspired by a 70s fetish club, this sultry look features red lips and teal eyes. MEOW!

fashion-week-fotd-final

I’d never think to pair these colors together, but this look turned out surprisingly wearable. I might actually rock this someplace other than my living room, ha!

If ya want a tutorial, gimme a holler in the comments. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

That’s an awesome look Karen. I’ve been trying to pair unexpected combos of eyes and lips. It keeps it interesting. Why should there really be boundaries as long as it’s well done?

Oh, this is stunning! Yes, Kate would love a tutorial.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I do have a HiP liner in teal that I could…

Did you get my link, by any chance? It’s an idea page for your living room that I did for you based off that picture you linked me to. My internet has been on ze fritz. It’s driving me batty!

Zena decided she was a cheetah today on her walk and practically dragged me on the route. I swear that dog is going to be the end of my feet.

Okay, I am either blind or a little bit crazy from the lack of sleep, but I can’t seem to find the link you sent!! I would love to see it.

How is school going? Do you have a lot of studying to do this weekend?

I am not sure if I can rock the teal and red together like you do, but I think I would try a indigo eye and red lip or maybe violet or hot pink lip.

Aww, you gotta try it at least once! Just rock it in your living room and then see how you feel.

BTW, I’m loving the idea of a violet eye and hot pink matte lip. Must try that ASAP!

As for the violet lips, here’s the tutorial on how to get a similar look.

      Hi Tavia,

Before going to bed, I put in some leave-in conditioner and then braided my hair into a thick, loose braid. In the morning I took the braid out and then curled the bangs and the front pieces with a large-barreled curling iron. After letting the hair cool for about 20 minutes, I ran my fingers through the curls to break them up and then sprayed them with flexible hairspray to set. That’s it! 🙂

      Hi Toni,

      Happy Friday!

I ended up using a bunch of MAC. Some of it is limited edition (boo!), but I’ll find equivalent colors from the permanent line for ya.

Do you ever do any unexpected color combos? This is my first venture, and so far I’m really liking it!

Karen, I haven’t done any unexpected color combos in a long time. I really want to do some of the trendy stuff without looking like I am trying to hard to regain my youth! LOL! I just stopped by Ulta today and picked up 2 shadows by NYX in Pacific and Lime Green. Since they are on sale, I might stop in again and look for a teal colored one.

Thanks for all you do and have a fabulous weekend!

      Hi Toni,

I hear ya. I have that issue often — especially when it comes to clothes. I need to really stop shopping in the juniors section, LOL!

Pacific and Lime Green sound so pretty! Hmm, maybe do a conservative slice of either color on the lid and then add some thick liner? That might look sassy without being too Hot Topic.

How about the Estee Lauder Double Wear ShadowCreme in Sea Mist? How’s that? 🙂
