New Hair!

Um…so why can’t someone come by and do my hair everyday?? I don’t think that’s too much to ask. LOL!

Got my hair done yesterday by my friend Alis over at Fox + Stone salon in Corte Madera, and I feel like a brand new girl. She trimmed my bangs, patched up my roots and dragged dark chocolate brown through the ends. Right now I have a kind of highlighting placement called balayage, which is when the stylist paints the color freehand on big sections of hair so the highlights look more “random,” and you can’t really see a line of demarcation where the regrowth starts and the painted parts begin.

I really like it. I think it looks a little more natural than traditional highlights.

Alis also blew out my hair and curled it, and you better believe I’m going to get every last drop out of it. Dry shampoo for days, yo! (Side note: I’m actually testing a new one right now by Living Proof, Perfect Hair Day. Very excited.)

I wish I could curl my hair like Alis does. When she does it, it falls so naturally… I can never quite replicate it. When I curl my own hair, it’s passable…but the curls fall in a uniform pattern that doesn’t have as much bounce or variety. When Alis does it, though, the curls look randomly placed, but they also look like they’re supposed to land right where she puts them, if that’s make any sense.

That’s why she’s the superstar stylist, and I’m the mere mortal, I guess. ?

Have you done (or are you planning to do) anything different with your hair for fall or winter? Any new cuts or styles or colors?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I really like this color on you ,Karen! I’ve had warm blonde balayage on my hair since last fall but i want to go darker now and this is great. I’m going to bring a photo of this to show my hairstylist next time I go in 🙂

Hi Karen! Your hair looks great! So full and shiny and love the color. I literally just got my hair done the other day too! Even though it’s still so hot here in so cal I felt like darkening my color to try to pretend fall is really here now. 🙂 I also felt like a change and had her give me some bangs just like in my kindergarten days. Lol. Haven’t had bangs in awhile so it’s definitely taking some getting used to.

Oh, and I kind of want to go darker for fall again but I did that last year and I liked it when the color was still rich but when it started to fade, I was already missing my blonde hair…So it’s probably safer to just stick to my blonde!

What Jessica said above ^^^^ you look stunning & couldn’t have a bad hair day if you tried. Love the hair. I’m still rocking my Marley twists, a la Denise Huxtable. Loving them. I can style them in so many ways & I’m still getting compliments 🙂

Nothing exciting with my hair. Got a trim a few weeks ago from my cousin!

Very nice ~ I love rich chocolate browns. My stylist does the same .. paints in strips of color as it leaves the faded strands and gives my hair some dimension 🙂

Your hair looks gorgeous! I love the balayage, it looks so natural and pretty! As it’s going to summer here in Australia, I really want to experiment with color in my hair… blue ombre is so tempting! I’ve been in love with rainbow hair for years and I think I might finally give it a go 🙂

Your hair looks amazing! I was thinking of livening up my dark brown with balayage too, but I’m still undecided… I guess I don’t trust my stylist enough!

Looking lovely! I also got a little balayage on my last trip to the stylist but I’m due for a trim. I’ve been coloring my regrowth myself and it’s been working out very well (thankfully). I’ve used a few things from Living Proof and liked them all. Never the dry shampoo, though. I hope it’s a winner for you! 🙂
    PS Happy Friday!

    Karen!
In a season ruled by dark lips your nude lipstick/gloss is refreshingly STUNNING- May I ask what you’re wearing?
Also please share the name of the lip gloss you were wearing in your blog photo dated AUGUST 12,2015 entitled: “Go With The Grain When You Apply Powder (and Foundation)”-(you are holding up a fan brush over your right eye)?
Tremendous Thanks and Congrats on your upcoming baby:)))))

Very gorgeous hair! Love the color and the curls are so pretty! Have you noticed any difference in your hair or nails since baby girl came on board? I had the best skin, hair and nails while I was pregnant.

      Hi Tatiana,

Thank you! Yes, I’ve definitely noticed some changes. My nails during the first trimester started splitting for the first time ever! I think that was one of the first signs that something was up. Now that I’m in the second trimester they don’t seem to be doing it as much. As for the hair, it’s been unusually dry and coarse, so I’ve had to use lots of heavy duty masks lately. 🙂

Hope you’re having a nice Friday so far. What are you up to this weekend?

I am not sure whether I will do something new with my hair or not. On one hand I am dying to get it done again (it has been over a year, for real), but on the other hand I don’t want any bleach now that I am pregnant again, so it feels kind of pointless…

    GURL,

    First, you look fly.

Second, my hair is so sad. No cut or color for almost 2 years. It’s down the small of my back. My silver hairs are mad with power! I want to do a blonde look but blonde is for people who have $$$. I have dark ash blonde roots so I’m thinking a gown out sombre with some brighter face framing strands wouldn’t be too much upkeep. Part of me still wants a red shade. I can’t decide.

Gorgeous hair, Karen! I’ve been wondering about the bayalage, and there seems to be a variation of results. I like your, really naturally-placed. I’m gonna bring your pic to my local guy and see if he can replicate. Fingers crossed!

Your gorgeous and I love your hair! How do you maintain your balayage highlights once they start to fade and how often do you have your hair highlighted?
