1. Re: buying blinds for your house
We finally caved in and went to a store that specializes in blinds because all the options and colors have just gotten too overwhelming.
We had someone come out yesterday to measure and walk us through the process, and the biggest takeaway I got was that continuity is key when you’re buying blinds.
For example, when all the shades or blinds are down and you’re looking at your house from the outside, it’s really nice to see all the window treatments matching.
If you don’t want to do that, and say, you have a two-story house, you can match all of the blinds on the first floor, and then have a different type of matching treatment on the top floor.
My point is, you ideally want to have some sort of continuity with your window treatments! Who knew?
2. Ilia Rococco Lipstick is lovely, but…
I got this a while back but haven’t worn it in a bit. It’s a beautiful warm rosy pink lipstick that’s loaded with pigment, but be mindful of it transferring onto your teeth. That’s why I’m smiling with my lips closed in the top pic, LOL!
3. You can wear a bodysuit unsnapped
Holy crap, this has been one of those weirdly surprising game changers for me. I love having the longer length of a bodysuit because I don’t like it when tucked-in shirts ride up, but sometimes I just can’t deal with snapping and unsnapping the crotch part. I recently read that if you’re not in the mood to snap, you can just skip it and wear the bodysuit loose. That’s what I’ve been doing lately, and it’s been glorious.
Here’s the thing, though: You have to make sure that the bottom of your bodysuit doesn’t escape. It’s easier to keep track of the front, but the back it can be tricky. I get around this by wearing pants with a high rise and/or a long blazer.
Have you had any revelations (beauty related or otherwise) lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

I bought an Ilia years ago, but it was rancid. My faves these days are Urban Decay glossy lip bond, and the ColourPop Harry Potter balms for around the house.
Karen says
Yeah, I think the Ilia is designed to last about a year.

We were super lucky that the blinds on the house we bought this year are really nice. When we replaced the ones in our rental when we moved out, we just bought the cheapest option because my landlord was not good, I’m not giving him anything extra.
I have a long torso and carry my weight in the upper half of my body so bodysuits just do not work well for me, generally.
There was a new Benefit Tint, Flora Tint, that I really like – it’s a nice rose color. I also just picked up a really expensive Guerlain eyeliner in Jungle Green because it looked like the discontinued Chanel eyeliner in Khaki Précieux and it’s really nice.
Karen says
That’s great that you didn’t have to update your window treatments! And it was nice the previous owners left them there for you because some people take ’em out.
My torso shape is the opposite of you; I have a very short torso, which is something I didn’t realize until I was an adult.
The Guerlain eyeliner sounds lovely, btw.

The seller was so nice! She was an older woman who couldn’t take care of a full house and yard anymore and she left us some things, including two nice rugs and a computer chair – those things aren’t cheap. She was also a fellow feline enthusiast.
Karen says
Oh, that’s super cool! I’ve put off buying rugs so far because 1) I’m having a hard time deciding, and 2) they’re so pricy! I’m glad you were able to get a few things that already suit your space.
How has your jaw been lately? Are you feeling better?
Chelsea says
There’s still quite a few limitations but things are improving. I can still mostly eat softer textures (ground or shredded meats, noodles, cereal that I let sit in the milk for a bit).
I get the screws taken out of my mouth in two weeks, which I’m really excited for. The muscles are pretty tense, so it’s pretty likely I’ll end up getting Botox injections in the jaw muscles (which I’ve done before for teeth grinding, it’s great but expensive. Since it’s surgery related my surgeon’s office is trying to get my insurance to cover it). I’m also doing PT to restore the range of motion – chewing is supposed to be circular motions and right now my jaw mostly moves up and down.
I have a smaller scar from having had MRSA that I might ask my derm about – it’s a slight indent. It’s purplish now but that’s post inflammatory erythema.
Karen says
Hooray for small victories. I hope that things are smooth when you get the screws taken out and that you get insurance to cover the injections! Fingers and toes crossed; Rosie Pose is crossing her paws for you, too. She’s supervising me right meow!(She’s on my windowsill, half asleep.)
Chelsea says
Thank you to you and Rosie Posie!

Oh boy!! Just thinking about window treatments makes me tired. LOL!! We’ve been living in our house for 29 years. It’s a big, old 3 story colonial. But, there are over 30 windows in the house, including the attic and basement. On the first floor, I just have a lot of lace curtains, and the second floor basically has shades and curtains. My sun porch has 9 windows, but they just have shades right now. I’m going to put up some kind of white sheer curtain soon though. My windows have a very traditional look. I laugh sometimes, when I think of all the money I spent on covering our windows. It’s crazy!!

I’m excited for your window treatments! They will look so nice!
A revelation for me in skincare: lactic acid + hyaluronic acid = amazing skin!
Anne says
I would be horrified of the back escaping if I left my body suit unsnapped!
