1. All the dark nail polishes, especially on short nails.
I know that dark polishes are typically a fall thing, but I’m really getting summer vibes from Chanel. Granted, they can all kinda look the same black or dark burgundy if it’s not your thing, but dang, they sure make my heart soar.
2. “Drops of God”
Did you have any idea that cooking manga was a thing? I would’ve been completely oblivious to this fun fact if it wasn’t for the show, “Drops of God,” which I binged watched last week. It’s a drama revolving around wine! Wait, here me out, because two episodes in, I felt like I was totally immersed in the world of international viticulture intrigue – and I was totally hooked.
Basic plot – two strangers battle for a multi-million dollar inheritance by passing a series of seemingly impossible tests related to wine. As the stakes get higher, big family drama is unearthed.
The show is in three languages, French, English and Japanese, and takes place all over the world. I was *swooning* over the scenes in Italy, omg! Watch it
3. ’80s music
There’s a scene in “Drops of God” where people are at a party and the song “(Keep Feeling) Fascination” by The Human League plays on the dance floor. It was all I needed to enter the rabbit hole of the music from my childhood.
4. ’90s style overalls
I just gleefully added a pair of ‘90s-style oversized white denim overalls (!) from Madewell in my cart!
I dunno, dude. Back in my college days, I wore overalls a ton, and when I really think about it, they have a lot going for them, especially if you’re 1) petite and 2) short waisted like yours truly.
They create an unbroken block of color from top to bottom, which in theory can make one appear visually taller.
5. Taking it ‘easy
For once, I’m trying to go with the flow! It’s not my nature to just roll with things (I like a plan), so we’ll see where this takes me. So far, I haven’t been hating it.
What’ve you been loving lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I need to go check out the new Chanel colors in person. Still annoyed they discontinued Organdi which was my perfect nude shade. My bottle is thick and goopy and really needs to be tossed. Sigh.
I love your #5. Because I’m all about taking it easier, being spontaneous and playing it by ear. Planning is not my strong point.
Claudia says
Don’t toss it. Add a few drops of thinner at a time to restore it.
Karen says
You gotta keep that bottle for reference. Bring it with you next time you go nail polish shopping! I bet you could find something every similar.

I think “not hating it” is a huge success for a self-described planner! Well done, and you picked a great time to do it. Something about summer is ideal for relaxing (says the person who thinks every day is perfect for relaxing – HAHA!). Those Chanel colors are right up my alley. Have you seen what this summer’s color is supposed to be in toenail polish? Remember a few years ago when the light blue was everywhere? I feel like that was the last “it” color I noticed, but you know I don’t pay very close attention and, I suppose, with COVID the beach scene has been pretty limited over the past couple of years.
Karen says
I haven’t really gotten a specific toenail vibe yet… I wouldn’t mind if light blue was everywhere this summer too, ha!
Kim says
I think it might be! Seems like pastels (yellow, green, blue, lavender), something called “lip gloss nails”, which I guess are just sheer nudes – my preferred manicure polish – and metallics like chrome. Not sure I can rock that one. HAHA! Plus, red and dark colors like your Chanel. Sounds like anything goes. 🙂
I’m not much of a yellow person for clothes or accessories, but some of the pastel yellow toenails looked really nice.
Karen says
I love short pastel yellow nails, but it finding the exact shade that works for you be tricky! Chanel has a really beautiful one that launched with their revamped collection. I don’t have it — yet! LOL!
Kim says
I’m kind of on the hunt, especially since yellow really isn’t my color. I think it’ll need to be really pastel. I’ll keep you posted if you’ll do the same. I’m totally staying away from Chanel though. Not going near that rabbit hole. HAHA!

I’m loving finally planting all the flowers I bought, some in pots for the deck and some for flower garden by my front door- they just make me happy. Also loving seeing/feeding the Baltimore orioles that are around right now in central IL- not sure where they go next but they don’t stay here long! Like you, I love those dark moody nail colors, too, but mostly use on my toes since my fingernails are a disaster. I take collagen, a gummy with biotin, etc., wear gloves when doing dishes/gardening but nails are thin, weak, split and peel. I do use an oil on them 2x a day but have not found anything that really helps…anyone hear of something that works?
Karen says
I started taking collagen in my coffee and have yet to see any results! Keeping my fingers crossed though.
CL says
The price on those overalls!😲 They’re cool-looking, but that price is really out of my range for clothing. Clothing just wears out too fast if it’s worn very often.
Karen says
I’ve gone back and forth on them a few times because I can’t seem to keep anything clean these days, LOL! My clothes always seem to have food on them, or chalk, or paint… I really love the idea of a crisp white from head to toe, though!
