Um, scary? Thank goodness I watched an episode of New Girl when we got home afterward. It helped to refill my head with happy thoughts before bed.
In other news, how’s it going today? Happy Saturday to ya.
I haven’t been up long. I stayed in bed for a few minutes after waking to pet Tabs and listen to the sound of silence outside…until I could no longer resist the idea of a hot cup of coffee, which I’m making now.

My eyebrows are TOTALLY different shapes. My left eyebrow is perfect, I love where the arch is, it’s long enough, but neither my waxist nor I can get the right one to match up. It’s okay though, eyebrows are merely sisters, not twins!
I hate doing my brows, they never match. I know people say brows are sisters not twins, but I think mine are at most, step-sisters.
My favourite pair of boots is gray! They’re pretty worn out and unfortunately I’m having so much trouble finding another gray pair I like in stores 🙁

Hmmm…which question to answer? I’ll discuss dinner. Went to a (relatively) new restaurant last night w/ a group of girlfriends. Food was amazing, but service was HORRIBLE (I.e. 30 minutes to get a glass of wine!)

Just returned from Target with a tube of the Sonia Kashuk satin luxe lipstick! I had every intention of buying the pinky beige but in person it was a little too beige for little ol’ fair-skinned me. So I opted for the Nude Pink and it’s perfect. You weren’t jokin about the moisturizing effect. I love it!
Also I swear by Neutrogena, but I’ve wanted to return stuff from their Naturals line. I love the idea they’re going for but the night cream smelled like candy and was so goopy. It was awful. And then I lost the receipt 🙁 So now it’s gathering dust on my bathroom vanity lol
My natural brows are a little different–my left has more of an arch than the right. But I just had them waxed last week so now they’re almost identical, with the exception of a tiny sparse spot on my left brow!

my most FAVOURITE pair of shoes are my patent ruby red BCBG almond toe heels. they’re the PERFECT shade of red, and the heel isn’t super hooker high, so it’s not hurting my feet (too badly). i wore them when The Man and i got married. i should have bought a second pair, as a back up. *sigh*

This gift card would be amazing! I’m in the midst of testing out foundations at Sephora, and after this week I look like a foundation hoarder! I’m going to be a bridesmaid in my cousin’s wedding but definitely need to bring my own makeup the day of the wedding for the MUA. My eyebrows are the same but I cant close just my right eye without scrunching up my face. It makes it so i cant properly ‘wink’ without looking like popeye. It also makes applying eyeliner on my left eye a breeze since it’ll close normally with one eye still open. Not so much on my right. It drives me nuts!

my eyebrows are shaped differently, not sure if this is a common issue but my right brow is much more flat whereas the left brow has such a nice arch to it. No matter what, plucking/waxing, I can never get them to perfectly match.

My right eyebrow grows sparser & slower at the outer corner, because that’s the side I sleep on the most. Sleeping on my right side also effects the way the lashes on my right eye grows, making them bend along the upper lash line and leaving a gap in the lashes. Makes putting on mascara and getting both sides to look even a real pain in the ass.

I guess this is a safe place where I can confess the major beauty blunder yesterday:
So it was Merdeka day in Malaysia, or Independence Day. To celebrate it me and my beau decided to go on a road trip visiting all the historical landmarks. It was all so good. But then I looked at the photos. In every single one of them, my left brow started about 2 inches in compared to my right brow! OMG! It’s the most terrifying thing ever! My brows are so light in color, and I definitely colored in too enthusiastically and plain wrongly.
Never again.
Guess I can only show the pics from that trip only of my side profile. LOL
I recently went to a Japanese restaurant with my aunt and uncle. We loved the food and service. My outfit that day is the simple & casual style — shorts, a top & cute flats. I love leopard prints and butterflies! 😉
My left eyebrow is always thinner and less defined than my right one >.< annoying.
I dislike lip plumping products because they contain menthol(which plumps lips due to the irritation they cause) and they're drying. A normal lipgloss or creamy lipstick is enough to highlight my lips 😀

About my skin care. I had bought a full line of Estee Lauder’s skin care. I was not happy with the way it working on my face. Embarrassingly, I returned it. It was tons of money in products. I Then, made the switch to Chanel’s skin care and loved it! Not only do I love the way Chanel’s skin care smells, it works AhMazingly! I get compliments all the time about how firm my skin is. I see Chanel recently revamped it’s Ultra Lift line and I can’t wait to try it all out!

Karen You have no idea the epic battle I Have with my eyebrows on a daily basis, I have thin hair, sparse hair there and on top of that they’re 2 different shapes so when I fill them in I have to make sure they’re more or less the same because I know eyebrows are supposed to be cousins not sisters.

Eyebrows, hmmm I’ve never in my life plucked a single hair and I’ve only recently started using an eyebrow pencil. They’re quite light coloured as I’m blonde and I’ve got a few stray hairs but I’ve never plucked them.

One of the best beauty bargains at the drug store are the Wet and Wild Color Icon 8 pan palletes- one of my all time favorites is the Comfort Zone palette! I can create endless looks with this palette and the shadows are so incredibly pigmented, smooth, creamy and easy to blend. Another fabulous one is the Petal Pusher palette- I’m such a sucker for anything and everything purple!! I’m actually wearing it today with my Amazing Cosmetics matte blush in Pink Chocolate. So natural and wearable and it doesn’t compete with my eye look! Xoxox

I was sick of my sparse eyebrows so a couple of months ago I decided to have a micropigmentation. Best decision I’ve ever made!!!! They ALWAYS look good now and it saves me 15 minutes every day!!!

I don’t really use lip plumping products because I have pretty full lips and don’t find the need to. But I did purchase a Dior lip plumper gloss once for the color.

I’ve always been a high end makeup snob, but drugstore brands have really stepped up their game lately. Recent favorites include Wet & Wild 6 pan eye shadow, Cover Girl FlameOut eye crayons, Nyx powder foundation, Milani eyeliner, and Revlon Just Bitten lip crayons. There’s so much good quality drugstore makeup these days I haven’t even been looking at the department store lines! My wallet is thrilled, lol.

My favourite shoes right now are these nameless black sandals with a black/gold flower in the middle that I bought just before summer started. I went on vacation and the only shoes I wore were those! For the price *which wasn’t much to begin with* I definitely got my money’s worth! They went to the beach, to the mall, to the park, for ice cream and even to a concert! No regrets! 🙂

Favorite pair of shoes is actually a favorite pair of boots! My John Fleuvog Miracle Lourdes in buttery deep red suede. They are Victorian styled with black PVC trim and black buttons going up the sides. DIVINE. Oh and I am so winning this contest one day………

Just sharing, my crazy eyebrows!! So my left eyebrow grows in a spiral at the end which makes it difficult when tweeting so I end up just having it all waxed off and feel it in, but it’s a trait my grandfather had so it reminds me of him. Love you Welo, it’s been over 10 years that he went to heaven but I have countless memories!

Yes, my brows are shaped differently, but what’s more annoying is that right brow goes nuts and has so many strange, stray hairs. It’s so much harder to keep the right brow groomed.

My favorite pair of shoes are metallic flats. I find I can wear them with almost anything. A few years ago I had a silver pair. When those got worn out I ended up replacing them with a gold pair. This year I think I may need a new pair. Whatever is on sale will do.

Back in the day when I worked full time in retail, I bought a lot at Sephora and quickly achieved VIB. But then I quit my job and eventually went back to school, and was broke and could only afford the basics – and bought a lot of stuff at MAC. But I’m in my last year of school, and I’m working more hours, so today I FINALLY achieved VIB again! And now they have VIB Rouge, that’s my next goal.
I am addicted to cherries and had them for dinner. I am also addicted to gel nail polishes. Yay!
My favorite pair of shoes would have to be one of my purple shoes or one of my leopard print shoes.

One of my brows is most definitely different than the other. I had my left one pierced in college and it bleached out the surrounding hairs. They’re back to normal color now, but still don’t grow in quite right.

Once, I got a sample of some expensive fancy serum from Nordstrom that smelled like dead fish. I managed to use it on my face only once….. Ugh it could work miracles but I couldn’t use something that smelled like that!
Right now I’m really excited because my own humble blog has been getting a lot more traffic recently. Nothing compared to the numbers you see, I’m sure, but it made me feel like someone besides was looking at all my posts about beauty and food!
I’m a very picky person when it comes to smells in my skincare so if doesn’t say it’s fragrance-free on the bottle/container, but if doesn’t I always make sure to smell it before I buy it because If the product works for me and a smell it has to be a very minimal smell that fades after I put it on.
I am currently obsessed with the new cushion BB creams that are so huge in Asia right now!
Taking two foster kittens in, up to four cats now. 🙂

That’s a good question about eyebrows being different. My brows are definitely different from each other. My left brow is actually shorter than my right. I’m missing hair on the very end, but I’m not sure why. I don’t know what happened, but they’ve been that way for a long time. I don’t even bother extending the left one, because most of the time my hair kind of covers the brow. Lucky for me!! Thanks for having another Sephora giveaway Karen!! Sephora rocks!! Woo Hoo!!
One of my brows is actually slightly lighter in color than the other. So I trim the darker eyebrow so it doesn’t look like the color is mismatched.

I do have one funky brow! I have a scar in half of my left brow from when I was 2 years old. My parents set up a plastic slide in the living room. I went down it, and midway down I stood up and ran down. The momentum made me start falling forward and I slammed head-first into the coffee table. Oops.

I made Whiskey Sliders for dinner last night.
I had a sauce-free veggie pizza for dinner. It was really good, but I don’t think the eggplant agreed with my stomach. D’oh.
Last night for dinner we made One-Pan Farro from Smitten Kitchen, but subbed barley for farro, and added local chanterelle mushrooms. I bet you would like the recipe, it’s vegetarian and can be fat free, but it’s oh-so-satisfying. We also made an apple-blackberry crisp for dessert (modified a recipe from Oh She Glows) with fruit picked in our yard and made homemade whipped cream to go on top. It was divine.
I just got back from Vegas! Have fun! One thing I can recommend is not to go to Spa Mandalay at Mandalay Bay. After I checked in, I got to listen to 20+ minutes of two employees bitching about another employee while they were folding towels. They were so loud that it drown out the music and the tv. : ( Not quite the relaxing spa experience I was hoping for, especially given the price.
It was my birthday on Saturday so my boyfriend and I spent a day at the beach. At first the weather was overcast but the sun came out in the afternoon and it was a great day!
I am loving the St. Ives moisturizer lately. I don’t know how it got by me before this. It’s cheap and really effective!

I once purchased a chanel pro lumiere foundation and returned it because I couldn’t get past the perfumey smell and it didn’t perform to my expectation of a high end foundation. I do love a lot of chanel products but hate the perfumey scent of them. My budget beauty product is definitely wet n wild polishes, they wear like iron and have such great finishes! I walked through the mall today and nearly bought a gorgeous black vest with leather trim. I don’t have any vests and I can’t even remember the last time I wore one!

I tried doing a smokey eye for the first time Friday night. I’m just now embracing eyeshadow back into my routine after years of hating the creasy mess I would have to deal with. I’m SO happy UD came out with those wonderful primers.
And my eyebrows are totally different shapes now. My eyebrow guru mother (she has been working in salons waxing my whole life!) has been helping me work on that. She’s amazing. She outlawed that over-plucked fad during the 90s/early 2000s and I am SO glad now.
