Hi, sweet friend. I tried really hard to wake up at the crack of dawn with the chickens to get some writing done, but my body refused to cooperate and just kept sleeping instead. LOL. It’s been a long, exciting week with the new job and all, I guess.
Competitive dance season is now underway, and this weekend is the first of several where I get to juggle managing our schedule, chauffeuring, packing snacks and lunch, costumes, and hair and makeup. It’s a lot, but it’s seriously so fun for the girls. I love that I get to spend time with Connor and her dance friends. I know that soon enough, they’ll be driving themselves to rehearsals and performances, and they won’t be needing us moms as much. 🙂
Anywho, this yellow costume with feathers for one of their routines is super cute. It’s a tap dance and they’re dressed up like little chickens! The feathers end up all over the place, though.
I hope things with you are going OK. Have a wonderful weekend, and let me know what’s happening on your end of the keyboard. I’d love to hear what you’re up to!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hi Karen! Connor Claire looks so cute and happy in her dance outfit! I’m glad your first week of work is in the books and it sounds like it went well. We are going to a college hockey game tonight, assuming the weather will cooperate and we can bring the girls out to my parents house, they live a little out of town and it’s kind of stormy here today.

In my area everyone is hunkering down to spend 3 days under 32 degrees. I got my last-minute supplies today, as most others did. Hopefully the TX power grid will hold up this time. My mother and I were actually lucky that our power did not go out when so many others’ power did go out a few years ago. It’s supposed to get down to 13 degrees in the morning, and it is already below freezing now (6:55 PM Central Time). It’s supposed to ice-over lightly, then snow/sleet starting tomorrow evening. That’s when the power problems will probably start, at least partly because tree limbs start breaking all over the place under the weight of ice and snow (even when it’s not that much ice). Our old tract-housing trees are dying from age and weather stress, anyway. Tree limbs will take down the power lines that are all over this area. I used to live in CA as a kid, and all the power lines in our area were underground, which is a great idea. That’s what should be done in all areas where it’s feasible. So even if the grid holds up, falling limbs are probably going to cause a lot of problems.

That girl of yours is just too cute! The mental exhaustion is real when you’re in a new job, hope you get some to have some down time tomorrow! I threw a baby shower for a friend today, her second baby, and it was “cutie orange” themed, so much fun. Very chill, no weird games, and the chocolate orange sponge cake I made turned out yummy! 🙂

That dance costume is so cute. Connor looks so happy! I remember driving all over the state for competitions when Dear Daughter was in school. Sonoma, Sacramento, Pebble Beach, Ojai, Palm Dessert. Our treat was always a stop at In-N-Out.
Hope you can relax and regroup for another a week.
