If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday and learn a lot about science, you’ve gotta visit the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco in Golden Gate Park! If you drive in early like we did, you can get good parking and make an entire day out of it.
Connor, El Hub and I enjoyed the rainforest dome and the Philippine Coral Reef so much. We spent most of our time observing and enjoying the displays.
We ended up purchasing a membership which allows you to come back as much as you want! Connor’s science teacher told me that one thing that encouraged her love for science at an early age was visiting the Cal Academy when she was young; their family had a membership and brought her there whenever she wanted to go. I’m hoping that we’ll make it back at least once a month. If she falls in love with science, that would be nice too!
Next time you’re in the Bay Area, make plans to stop by. 🙂

I love this for you guys! I had just visited the remodeled California Academy of Sciences before I moved out of California for good. It is so awesome! I hope Connor Claire will be inspired by it and I’m glad you got a membership!
Karen says
It’s wonderful, isn’t it? I can’t wait to go back.
Sarah Lowes says
Wow – looks fantastic!
Also, crocodiles and alligators are two of my favourite animals…
Look at those long legs on that little girl of yours!
Karen says
That’s Claude, the famous albino alligator!
Sarah Lowes says
Love him!!!

Looks like a really cool place to visit. The only thing like that I got to see in California as a child was the La Brea Tar Pits. I did, however, live in the desert, so I got to see natural wonders like the Joshua trees, Death Valley, and Red Rock Canyon.
Karen says
I think the desert is magical in its own way! That’s cool you were able to see those things. 🙂

Wonderful pictures. I’ve been there a few times before. It’s one of those places that is filled with wonder and never disappoints.
Karen says
Thanks, Eileen. Next time we go back, I’m hoping that we get to see some live music. There was a string orchestra there and we were able to catch a little bit of the show; Connor loved it!
Hope your week is going great.
