Hello, friend! Happy Tuesday. I hope all is well. In news around here…an Ulta recently opened in my town (it’s less than five minutes away), and it’s been both wonderful and terrible at the same time. I went in last weekend solely intending to replenish a couple things I’d finished recently, but I ended up leaving the store with a few unintended extras. Whoops! Here’s what I grabbed:
- Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit: The easiest and quickest way to get rid of that upper lip hair. ‘Stash no more! This is my third (or fourth? I’ve lost count) box.
- Curel Makeup Cleansing Oil: Removes waterproof mascara gently. I love this almost as much as the DHC one, and I’m now on my second bottle.
- OPI Infinite Shine Nail Polishes: I think this is OPI’s version of the Essie Gel Coutures, and it’s new to me. I grabbed two colors, a dark burgundy pearl called I’m Not Really a Waitress, and a creamy burgundy called Malaga wine. I also picked up the top coat too.
- Grande Lash-MD Lash Enhancing Serum: I watched a before-and-after review video on this lash serum on Milabu’s channel on YouTube and was like, WOW. Lashes for days. This was totally an impulse buy, and so I’m still deciding whether I’m going to keep it. If you have any thoughts on it, please let me know!
Thank you for your well wishes on the first day of my new job yesterday. It went well! I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’m looking forward to stretching my writing muscles again.
If my posts are a little shorter than usual this week, please know it’s because I’m trying to get my feet under me as I navigate this new terrain!
How’s everything going on your end?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Congrats on your job! Glad to hear it’s going well 🙂 the grande lash serum works amazingly! At least on me! I recommended it to my sister and now she’s hooked lol! Interested to hear what you think!
Karen says
Thanks, Laura. How long have you been using the lash serum?
Laura Majors says
Gosh been using it for a couple of years now! But I started seeing results if I remember in just a couple of weeks using it once a day before bed!

I used to have I’m Not Really a Waitress, love it! I’ve been enjoying riding my bike and for new make up I’m trying a bronzer stick from Westman Atilier. Such a smooth formula, not too much shimmer and a lovely metal tube with a magnet closure.
Karen says
Oh, I’m so curious about that line! Have you tried anything else besides the bronzer?
Kim says
I’m so glad your first day went well! I hope you have a fabulous week! Are you still using the other lash serum? Those results were very dramatic in your pics. I’ll be interested to hear how you like the Grande lash serum. 🙂
Dominique Clayton says
Congratulations on your new job!!!! I cant wait to try the Opi products.
Karen says
Thanks, Dominique! I painted my nails last night with the I’m Not a Waitress shade. I’ll post swatches soon!
Karen says
Hi, Kim! I haven’t used the Rodan + Fields one in a loooong time. I sorta just fell off the wagon (it happens). This one is slightly more affordable, which is why I wanted to try it.
Kim says
Your lashes still look great, so that’s a definite bonus! I hope this new one is a success for you, too! 🙂

Be careful with that Grande Lash serum. My Mom used it and it kept giving her massive styes and she had to stop wearing eye makeup altogether for awhile. I read that this is a problem with many of the lash growth serums.
Karen says
Oh my, thank you for your input Cindy. I hope your mom is OK now!
Adeliana says
I too had styes from Grande Lash but only from two batches – not sure if it was a problem with a particular batch or if it was my eyes reacting weirdly. I have bought it 4 times as the first time I had great results and just a little soreness and redness around the eye area, the second one gave me styes but long lashes, the third batch had no issues with redness or styes but no growth or thickness of lashes, and this 4th lot is currently a mix of styes, soreness and a little growth. It could be inconsistency of batches or individual reactions though as the active ingredient is known for causing sensitivity and can change the colour of the iris permanently too.

TOTALLY keep the lash serum. GAME. CHANGER. I use the brow serum also. They cost a pretty penny, IMHO, but they’re totally worth it.
Karen says
It’s so nice to see you, Kwmechelle! I hope you’ve been great!
Renee says
Hi Karen! Congratulations on your job!
I love using a lash serum, especially now in my 40s. I have used several, including Grande Lash and it works! I have had no issues. I feel as if having longer lashes and then applying mascara actually lifts my eyes up as to take focus off of my fine lines and puffiness underneath.
I know its probably psychological but having the longer lashes has definitely been a game changer in the *makes me feel younger* category lol!
I am going to have to pick up the OPI polishes! Guess I will be heading to my nearby Ulta…
Karen says
Thank you, Renee! I know what you mean about longer lashes making a huge difference. My eyes are more hooded than they used to be, and when my lashes were really long, I felt like they appeared more open.
BTW, I just painted my nails on Monday with OPI I’m Not a Waitress, and I’m loving the Infinite Shine formula so far!

So glad to hear it is going well! Take your time adjusting to the changes, I find these transitions always way more exhausting than I initially thought.
