Best-Smelling Scented Makeup or Beauty Product (Not Including Actual Perfumes)?

Guerlain Terracotta 4-Seasons Bronzering Powder in Ebony
Guerlain’s scent-sational Terracotta Four Seasons Bronzing Powder in Ebony, $76

Guerlain’s bronzers and my basset hound-like sense of smell get along swimmingly. I am seriously addicted to their scent! — which is weird, because when I think of scented products, I don’t usually think of bronzers being high up on the list.

But I dunno… For me these are. The smile-inducing scent is a little powdery, with a dash of jasmine and tiare flower/gardenia. It reminds me of very good things, like hugs from my mom, Hawaiian tradewinds and a botanical garden at night.

The scent doesn’t really linger on my face, but I always catch a good whiff of it when I open the compact, and then again when I apply the powder.

How about you, sweets? In your olfactory estimation, what’s the best-smelling scented makeup or beauty product (not including actual perfumes)?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I really like the smell of the Dr. Hauschka Blush and Shimmer Trio from this spring!

Philosophy Cinnamon Buns shower gel. It really smells like an actual cinnamon bun. (Due to not being quite that flexible, I have no idea if it makes my own buns smell cinnamony.)

I love the scent of my Josie Maran Argan Infinity Creamy Lip & Cheek Oil (holy cow, what a long name, lol). It’s perfectly rosy, and I’m picky about rose-scented products! I will also be captain obvious and admit that I love the scent of MAC lipsticks. Also, the Yes to Coconuts face & body wipes (not makeup, so kind of a stretch, haha)- I don’t know if they are limited edition, but my bf sniffed me last night and said “I think I smell coconuts”. I love the smell and apparently so do others, lol!

I absolutely love the smell of Becca’s Souffles. It’s a very delicate fruity scent. I don’t own any but I am guessing their Beach Tints have a similar scent.

NARS Sheer Lipsticks (a fresh, citrus-y floral-y scent), for sure! I like the smell of Guerlain lipsticks (violets, right?) but I hate that they linger. I personally dislike the smell of vanilla and I hate that most cosmetic companies use this for their products D: My perfume tastes aren’t that girly so I’m not surprised that I don’t really like the smell of most cosmetics!

Yep, MAC lipsticks smell delicious. Buying their lipsticks is a TOTAL experience for me. Besides whichever shade I’m wearing at the moment, the smell always makes me smile (lame, I know…lol)

It’s weird. It seems like the only things I own that have a scent, and aren’t a lotion or perfume, are lip glosses and bronzers. And they usually smell like vanilla and coconut, respectively. Hmm…

The Guerlain Meteorites! The scent reminds me of my Grandma and my Mom and I hope that someday it will remind my kids of me 😀 I also love the scent of the Guerlain terracotta joli tient foundation – it’s similar to the terracotta le parfum.

A most awesome product for volume and style, but the smell is divine. I wish they made a perfume that smells like this. Every swish of your hair, yes yes I catch a whiff.

I haven’t tried that one, but I feel like dry shampoos often have a nice scent! 🙂 I like how the Herbal Essences Naked dry shampoo smells! It’s minty, but not toothpaste minty.

Morocccan Oil is sublime. I too like Agadir oil, but not as much as Moroccan.
Caudalie and Nuxe products are very distinctive and “fraganced”. I know that some people dislike them. I enjoy their scent very much.

But the one that I find amazing, if a bit overwhelming at times is the Divine Line Immortelle creams by L’occitane…is like the whole herbal garden concentrated in a pot.
I wish the happy booster blushes(ones with hearts embossed) had more of the violet scent they claim to have. I find them too subtle.!

…….and something that I cannot describe properly: The scent of “vintage” powder. I purchased a Coty antique ( or maybe is just old) little compact powder with the shape of a mirror and a lipstick bullet as handle and that is how it smells = Vintage.

Chanel JC blushes and Benefit Rockateur I will sit for a while after I put them on just smelling the light floral-y scent. They smell so… pretty! Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette is also nice, and the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer smells a little like vanilla and a little minty, it’s awesome.

For me is Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse, love, love the scent of this gorgeus oil. Their Anti-fatigue Creme Prodigeuse also smells like the oil.
I also liked the smell of old Chanel lipsticks, now they are not as “perfume-y” as they used to be.

I LOVED the scent of discontinued MAC Mascara X, smelled like flowers; I would always smell it before putting it on, I miss it!
I dislike the scent of vanilla but enjoy the one that MAC uses for their lipstick (unfortunately my Nude shades tend to get that stale old lipstick scent quickly).

I love the rosey scent of Chanel Coco Shine lipsticks.
And I also like the Benefit Coralista blush smell, though I don’t wear it often because it emphasizes my pores. Oh, and I have lookalike Meteorites pearls by Essence of the Baking Beauty edition, it’s a very low-price brand here in Germany. They highlight and smell delicious (but not like cake though, more flowery).

I really like the Dior Rouge lipsticks, but unfortunately here I don’t like the smell that much.

    Karen,

Could you at some point do swatches of the Guerlain Four seasons bronzers you own? There is no comprehensive comparison on the blogs. I am trying to pick one to purchase online for a while now, I have no access to Guerlain counters. Just a thought 🙂 Thanks. Ebony looks gorgeous, especially that blush shade!

My Tarte brightening primer smells like vanilla-y tangerines, and incidentally smells exactly like a sunscreen I used when I visited Greece and Italy years ago. So every time I use my face primer I’m reminded of that wonderful trip 🙂

I’m going to go way back to when I was 16 and during a shopping trip to Urban Outfitters – this may have been same the shopping trip when I got my “Idaho? No, Udaho” t-shirt – my mother also graciously purchased me a Tony&Tina lipstick. It might’ve been because she liked the scent, too. As I recall, it was mainly lavender and bergamot, but I believe there were some other essential oils in there. It was heavenly. I wore it pretty much every day. I miss it.

In a similar vein, I’m obsessed with the scent of Julep’s Ta-Da quick drying drops. It’s mostly rosewood with lavender and ylang-ylang. And I know this because I studied the ingredient list and then went all mad scientist mixing my own blend that smells just like it. (I add it to Neutrogena’s unscented body oil and use that as my post-shower moisturizer most days.)

Ooh! And the Alterna Bamboo Smooth line of products. It’s so fresh and clean smelling. I find it kind of addictive, actually.

And, and, and: Philosophy Purity Made Simple. Again with the essential oils. I want some products for the body and/or hair that smell like it.

MAC lippies and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette are definitely my faves. I don’t like anything floral-scented but give me something that smells like food and I’m all over it.
