Happy Friday, friend! Miss you.
Before I get into it, first, Chanel.
Aren’t these blushes from the new fall collection so pretty? I haven’t had the heart to mess with the gorgeous leaf designs on the pans.
How’s your week been? School starts next Thursday so Connor’s with me at home, and in between juggling back-to-school things and taking her to playdates, I’ve been on the phone doing health care stuff for the fam-bam. We got new insurance, and although I’m so glad to have access to medical care, it’s been brutal trying to learn a new system.
I’ve spent most of the week on the phone calling doctors. Apparently there’s a shortage of available doctors where I live, and most are either not taking new patients or they’re booking appointments that are one year out. ONE YEAR! It’s savage.
Most of my week has been spent on hold listening to this music!
Adulting is so not fun. I would 100% not recommend it to anyone!
To get my mind off of things temporarily, yesterday, I took Connor to get boba and then we went to Nordstrom Rack to look at shoes. I bought a pair of very sensible camel-colored loafers by Cole Haan with a birthday gift card.
Honestly, they don’t make my heart break out into song or anything, but they’re comfortable, and I know I can wear them with a lot of things. And, if I had to, I could sprint across a parking lot in them to chase a child down!
It was the best thing that happened to me this week.
How are things going with you? I hope you made it to Friday in one piece.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love those shoes, Karen! They’ll go with lots of stuff and Cole Haan is so comfortable! The healthcare system in the US is f*****! Enjoy your last few days of relative freedom with Connor Claire! We are headed to the lake this weekend to hang with my husbands’ family. We have a funeral to go to on Saturday, sad but not unexpected.

That hold music is amazing! There’s an episode of This American Life that delves into the origin of this track, great listen! https://www.thisamericanlife.org/516/stuck-in-the-middle-2014/act-one-0

Sensible shoes are so underrated! I’ve worn them most of my life, and I have never had bunions or any of the severe foot and lower leg problems most women have by middle age or later. I did have ingrown toenails as a child, but all 3 of my brothers also had that – pretty sure that’s hereditary in our case. I did have plantar fasciitis a few years ago for a while, but that ended when I switched to shoes with decent arch support (and added decent insoles to the shoes that didn’t have it built-in). Those Cole Haan shoes are pretty cool for loafers.
In my area they’re learning once again that school shouldn’t start until after Labor Day. It’s just so hot! Air conditioning often fails in schools (and libraries) at this time of year.

Oh man.. those shoes are so cute!! I am not in my cute shoes era at the moment. But those blushes are gorgeous! I got some similar shades from Pat McGrath in a sale last year and love them on my warm tan skin!
My big girl starts 1st grade right after Labor Day and we are trying to just soak up the time together .

Health insurance is such a pain. I got new insurance this year with my new job and I have a lot of medical problems.
These blushes are so gorgeous!

Hi Karen!
Thank you for showing us that beautiful eyeshadow. I think I’m going to have to get it!!
Since you and I often share the same foundation or close, I thought I would share someone with you that also wears similar foundation. She is wearing the new Suqqu foundation in 040 and I can’t wait to get it!
Her name is Amra and her chanel Amrasbeautyblog.
This is her Chanel Fall 2023 YouTube video.

I saw the eyeshadow on her video and then came and saw it on your blog and y’all have me convinced!
