Random things I’m excited about at the moment.
- Comfy shoes. I’m wearing my Vans with the makeup print today.
- Cooler weather around the corner. It was foggy in my neck of the woods this morning for the first time in a long time! YAY!
- All the sheer and medium foundation and tinted moisturizer choices out there.
- All the shades of foundation and tinted moisturizer available in this day and age! Take it from a brown girl who survived the ’90s… Times were tough back then. LOL!
- Fried chicken. Honestly, I never really liked it until I had the Northern Fried Mary’s Chicken with a salad at Blue Barn restaurant in Novato. I wonder what makes it “Northern Fried?” Hmmm. Whatever, it’s good. I like how it’s not hella greasy and the breading isn’t overly thick.
- Coffee. Always coffee! I’m already salivating at the thought of a second cup of Nespresso.
- A new season. Anyone else have kind of a rough summer? I’m ready to move on.
- The fact that we’re alive today! Think of all the people out there today wishing they had more time. Dang, that always puts me in my place whenever I start feeling cranky about small things.
- The cute quail family that moved into my neighborhood recently. There’s, like, 16 of ’em. They’re so cute when they sprint across the roads with their tiny little legs, awww. I hope the neighborhood cats leave them alone.
- Resting. GIRL. I get to Thursday and Friday and I am done. JUST. DONE. I can’t wait to rest this weekend.
What things are you excited about right meow?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

TGIF for shizzle! lol Those shoes are super cute, the only thing cuter would be if they had kittehs on them 🙂
I’m over this week, myself. Looking forward to having only one thing on the schedule for this weekend & it’s going to dinner with a friend I haven’t seen in 6+ months.
My 2 “kids” (kitty and dog) had a “barffestival” last night. I told my husband if he’s feeling queasy today, I’m not coming home!
Have a tremendously relaxing weekend!

It’s been a busy week here, too, and I am also looking forward to some extra rest….why do we women always put ourselves last?!?
I got to see some very young mini schnauzer puppies last night. Love that puppy breath and those sweet little snuffle/squeak sounds they make when you snuggle them up close.
At age 70 I am also grateful for the plethora of sheer/light foundations around these days…anything heavier just accentuates my wrinkles.
I have several friends/family dealing with serious health issues and am so grateful myself to be recovered from hip replacement last June and able to work out again and feel good. My prayer list for others seems to be growing by the day…
Happy that the weather here in central IL has been wonderful this week. Really enjoyed having morning coffee on the deck and listening to my birds, checking out my flower pots, loving these nice days on the way to fall.
Reading your blog makes me happy, too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with all of us.

Love the shoes! I wear a lot of Vans High Tops for the ankle support. My favorites have Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts on them.
I have cellulitis in my face post surgery, so it’s kind of a rough day here but thank goodness for antibiotics and pain meds. I’m excited that earlier this week I had an appointment with a rheumatologist that was very promising in terms of getting answers about my joints.
I’m thankful Hettie’s sore on her back was just a hot spot and that she’s super good for her meds and for wearing a tee shirt over it. (Also this gives me dreams of us wearing matching outfits in the future – definitely something to be excited about!)
And yes for excitement on cooler weather!

Gurrrrrlllll, same about Thursdays and Fridays. I peak on Wednesdays and then that’s it. Raise your paw for a 3 day week.
I’m excited about reading Paul Hollywood’s new baking book, which I got from the library because I’m trying to economize where I can with inflation and what not.
I’m excited about Caturday and Sunday even though I’m going to have to do some things–like laundry and probably feeding the other people in my house.
I’m excited about a cozy new bra I’m wearing today that I got on “clearance” at Macy’s. Clearance in quotes because it was $39– which is half off what it would normally be. But I have to buy real bras because I’ve been blessed in that region and need All The Support. But this is by Wacoal and is black and silky and is so comfortable without looking like one of those middle aged women bras.
Excited about iced espresso and hot espresso and hot Americanos at Starbucks this weekend. I’m ordering all the espresso.
I may take a nap too. Or go to the beach! The skies the limit.
Happy TGIF!
Love the Vans! So cute! I’m wearing what look like could be Vans today with a black summer dress. I got them on clearance at Nordstrom last year. They are a pale pink suede but a half shoe–you know without a heel–slip-ons I guess they’re called.

Finally feeling better after the flu (not tired and no more brain fog) so I’m finally getting up to date on all the household chores that needed to be done!
I even made brownies yesterday and I loathe baking (love cooking though!)
I love quail! I remember last year seeing about 16 of them crossing the street single file. It was the highlight of that week. I had been having a rough time with wedding planning and had just found out that half of my friends weren’t coming at all even though talking to them weeks previously they seemed all for it 🙄 turns out they never had any intention of coming and were waiting until the last possible minute to let me know. Seeing all those cute little quail bouncing around definitely helped the state of my mind (which was very bad at that time.)

Love the shoes! I’m looking forward to leaving the house for a Trader Joe’s run. Both my husband and I had COVID (second time for me, the first June of 2021) so we’ve been isolated though we were only feverish crappy sick for about 3 days. I want some meringues, a croissant (if they have them), and some goat milk kefir to make smoothies (I can’t do cow dairy with my eczema but the goat milk actually helps).
The second thing is I got some Honua Hybiscus hyaluronic serum from my husband for my birthday with their hibiscus/ blue tansy Lihua facial mist and can’t wait to try them with my standby favorite Youth Serum.

I am looking forward to three weeks of vacation in France, with lots of sleep, croissants and time at the beach. It has been a long time since the last one and I am ready for some family time.
