Oh em gee. It’s all over the place lately! This latest one celebrated Karl Lagerfeld (most people seem to have strong feelings about him).
Anywho, I’ve scanned a few Insta posts here and there, and I’ve also read a couple stories online — and that was only because some people dressed up as Choupette, aka KL’s cat!
Leave it to the cat lady to get stoked about a big fashion night because of cats, ha ha ha! Other than that, though, I don’t really follow it that closely. *shrugs*
I have to admit the Met Gala’s great for makeup inspiration. I bookmarked these two posts from Chanel!
I love the lip in this look on Margaret Qualley (she’s an actress and Andie McDowell’s daughter). The makeup is fresh and understated, yet so elegant. Can someone please come over and do this makeup on me so I can look like this all day, every day?
This look on Whitney Peak (yup, she’s an actress, too) has the same elegant, glamorous vibe. If you look closely, you can see a tiny diffused little dot on her upper lid; I think it’s blue or purple, with glitter on top. Kinda cool!
Anywho, let me know if Met Gala floats your boat. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Not related, but Bay Area ladies, FYI, the big Nordstrom in downtown San Francisco is closing. It’s the end of an era!

I follow the Met Gala just for the clothes. Didn’t realize there was an after party. I wonder how late that starts considering Rhianna didn’t arrive on the beige carpet until 10:15.
I know KL wasn’t exactly the nicest person, but he was still a creative genius. I’ve always wanted some Chanel clothing. But just when I think I can afford a piece the prices have gone up yet again. Le Sigh.
I think you’ve done some equally elegant makeup looks.
Say what?!!! Nooo, that Nordstrom can’t close. When will it close? I wonder what Nordstrom will consider its flagship in the Bay Area? I know the store near me doesn’t carry half the things I would like and I have to order them. I wonder if it’s because of shop lifting? Supposedly that’s the reason the Whole Foods on Market Street closed. Shoplifting and the personal safety of the workers.
Karen says
Have you thought about buying Chanel on consignment or through The Real Real? I think that’s the only way I could do it, LOL!
So I heard one of the reasons the Nordstrom closed was because of crime in the area. Apparently it’s been on the rise in downtown San Francisco.

It’s really sad that the market street area is giving SF such a bad rep. We went to the SFMoMA in March and it was crowded for St. Pat’s Day Parade so we didn’t feel anything was amiss. But the traffic was horrendous and when we were done all I wanted to do was to get out of The City. And I’ve never felt that way before. I must be getting really old.
I had friends who worked at Barney’s and used to love to pop in and see them and ogle the fancy clothes upstairs. Barney’s closed, Diptyque closed, Britex closed then moved. It’s getting harder to find a reason to visit that part of The City. Fillmore and Japantown and the museums are where we spend our time now.

You’re lucky your car didn’t get broken into when you were downtown. I know several people who’ve had their windows smashed in parking garages—in the middle of the day!
P.S. Where is the best place to eat in Japantown?
Tatiana says
I don’t know the best place to eat in Japantown, but I do love Marufuku Ramen. They’re up on the 2nd floor.
Karen says
Ooh, thanks! I think we’re due for a family outing there soon. 🙂 I’m going to check to see if they have gluten-free options!

Truly an end of an era with SF Nordies closing 🙁 Fond memories with my daughter shopping there — I also feel sad for we love going to their cafe after a day of going around downtown SF. Even the Nordies in Pleasanton (our hometown) has closed too.

I used to love going to the Nordstrom Cafe after a day of shopping! I’m going to miss it too, although I haven’t been there in ages.

Don’t follow at all but thought of you and Tabs when I saw a pic of Jared Leto in a Choupette costume. I laughed when I recognized her immediately, and realized that it was probably the only thing I’d recognize at the gala. HAHA!
