As I live and breathe! There’s now nail polish designed purposefully to be peeled off in two-to-four days.
It’s by a brand called BBx Elsa. Their quick-dry Peelable Nail Polishes cater to those who prefer to switch up their color often.
The polish contains 60% water and is intentionally designed to be peeled off like a sticker. After you paint, you wait two-to-three minutes, then you’re done.
If you want, you can also layer on a top coat, and yes, the polish is supposed to still stay peelable, even with a clear coat on top. There are two sets to choose from with three shades in each set; you can buy them online for $42 each.
I like to paint my nails on the weekend and keeps the same color on for a week, so this concept absolutely blows my mind. I’m sooooo not the target market, LOL!
I do love the fact that the polish dries so quickly, but I can’t see myself reapplying a mani multiple times throughout the week, even if it takes less than five minutes total.
I guess this could be revolutionary, though, if you’re the type of person who gets antsy seeing the same shade on your nails! I have a friend who switches her nail polish often, and so I can see it appealing to those who aren’t keen on committing to the same shade.
What do you think about peelable nail polish? Do you think it’s something that might catch on? And does it hold any “ap-peel” (girl, you know I had to go there) for you?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hmmm I had peel off polish as a child in the mid 80s and it couldn’t have cost more than $1.99. It was fun though!

I wish I could remember that trend from the ’80s!

Yea, I’m pretty sure another brand did this like 10ish years ago. And, it was a lot less $$.

I do remember having a lot of fun with peel-able polish as a kid. These look fun for kids, or someone who wants a bright color for a day or 2.
I did just get the Holo Taco Peely base coat to try with glitters, since I’d rather not soak my nails in acetone forever to remove the glitter at the end of the mani. I heard you can leave a bit of the edge free of the peeling base coat so it doesn’t peel off immediately the next day.
I can report back. 🙂

Hi Karen – I would actually really like this. I am not good with mail polish including shellac or gel polish because I get antsy and like to pick it off and that damages the fingernails. I am not sure how often I would apply this back to back – I’m not as diligent with making time for nail polish but this sounds fast so maybe that will change . I’m going to look it up right now!!
Here comes Friday – yay.

Happy Friday! I’ve never tried the peel off polish (or bases) but did have a nail done a few years ago with a printer and it must have used a base like that because it did peel, but after more than a week, iirc. I would guess the formulas and tech are a bit better with these new polishes than the old 80s versions. It’s probably better for your nails than using acetone to remove polish. 🙂
PS I hope all is well with you and the family!

I usually switch between two or three shades at max and I prefer to keep them on as long as possible (preferably a week or so), so no, also not the target market.

Peel-off base coats have been pretty popular for a minute now. I love them for fussy glitters and textures that might be a pain in the neck to get off. I also like using peel off polishes as base colors for nail art or effect topcoats. I’m wearing UNT peel base coat right now, for a shifty blue to silver flash-reflective glitter polish from Bees Knees Lacquer. ANYWAY I LOVE PEEL OFF THANKS
