When Was the Last Time You Did a Crazy Artistic Makeup Look?

Oh this? This is just my second set of brows… Yes, I was born with them.

For real life and not just playing around? Gosh, it’s been a while for me. I skipped getting gussied up for Halloween this year (too many things going on), so I think the last time was last fall or winter.

It’s been too long. I’ll tell you that much right now. I know it was when I had bangs… I did a glittery cut crease, around which ended up looking like a hot mess! It was fun to try, but I looked like I had a second set of purple sparkly brows.

Ah… Good times.

How about you? When was the last time you did a crazy artistic makeup look? And yes, if you did it for Halloween, it totally counts. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy hump day, beautiful. Have a great day. We’re expecting a big storm here tonight with lots of rain. I heard something about an atmospheric river… That does sound slightly ominous, yeah?

It was definitely the end of January 2017 at the Washington School Elementary School Show for the alumni number. Every year, the parents at Washington School put on a show as a fundraiser. Zack has been long gone from elementary school, but every ten years, they invite parents whose children have moved on to come back for an alumni number. We sang and danced to ”Time Warp” from Rocky Horror Picture Show. Lots of heavy eye makeup and glitter. It was fun, but I am glad I don’t have to do the show anymore, five years was enough.

Oh, for me, it was right before NEVER. 🙂 I’m actually glad to hear that you guys are getting a bunch of rain. The fires are so scary that I hope this will keep them from happening again. And happy Hump Day to you, too. I hope the downhill is fast, fun and smooth.

We’re due for a massive storm this afternoon but I’m still waiting on it… The sky is blue right now! Allegedly there’s going to be flash floods.

Hope the rest of your week goes by in the blink of an eye.

Oh, no. My goodness, if it’s not dry/fire, it’s rain/flash floods? I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t realize the flooding came with the rain. You poor folks need a break. I hope the storm isn’t bad. 🙁

Ditto! Btw, you’re not going to Cosmoprof Bologna in March, are you?

          Hi Kim,

The storm passed and now it’s sunny again, yay! So no plans as of yet to go to Cosmoprof Bologna. Will you be attending? Get your passport stuff settled done now so you don’t have to be doing it last minute!

I can’t recall the last time I did an artistic makeup look. On the other hand we did see Thor Ragnarok this past weekend and both my daughter and I commented on how cool Cate Blanchett’s makeup is in the movie and what a great Halloween look it would be.

Ahhh, I can’t even remember the last time I went to a movie theater, so jelly! I’ll have to look up Cate Blanchett’s makeup…

I looooooved that look when you did it!

For me it was about a week and a half ago, I did so sparkly teal green shadow (Watt from the KVD MetalMatte palette) all over my lid and all the way just above my crease with a clean edge, like a clean semicircle shape of shimmery green eyeshadow. Idk, I was feeling kind of Mod that day and it matched my sweater perfectly!

Sounds beautiful, Katie! I love a bright, shimmering green.

      Happy Wednesday to ya.

Karen, your newly acquired pair of glittery eyebrows are delightful but it’s your lipstick color I’m really digging..which one is it?

Thanks, Neha! I’m wearing Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil in Manic and Chapstick Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in Coral Blush. I have more pics in this post if you want to see more shots of the lips in action.

I liked Kim’s answer, “right before never”! Same as mine. I suppose when I was a lot younger I overdid it sometimes, but these days I can’t even remember the last time I went crazy with makeup. (and that’s not Alzheimer’s talking!)

HAHA! I love that you went crazy with your makeup in your younger days. You should bust a look out just for fun to see if you can still do those types of looks.

It was crazy but I definitely wouldn’t call it flattering! It took me a while to figure out what colors looked good with my skin tone and not just in the magazine ads! All those light coral and pink lip colors definitely gave me the corpse look, but that was not the look I was going for! As bad as that stuff looked on me in my teens, it would look ten times worse today! What’s the saying, “Mutton dressed up like lamb”? I even washed off some shadow the other day that I thought looked too dark! I’m not into extreme makeup any more!

Hahahaha! I love you Karen! And your purple set of new eyebrows I love too!!! I remember my last artistic makeup look well! It was during the solar eclipse, a couple of weeks ago…I remember it so well because I created the look (a yellow 60s cut crease) and then totally forgot about it and went outside to watch the solar eclipse with my family … then we met our new neighbors (cause we live in a new area lol) that seemed to look strange at me…only later I realized that I must’ve looked kinda cray-cray with my neon yellow eyeshadow!!! Maybe they thought I wanted to look like the sun? ? So: yes I remember vividly lol and I think it won’t happen again any time soon! ?

I would’ve thought you were the coolest lady on the block, Sissy! You’re so lucky to have seen the eclipse. It was overcast where I live in the Bay Area so all I saw were clouds. My parents were in Utah, right in the path of totality, and they said it was amazing.

For real life? Hm. I did put on a very editorial look for a video and wore it for the rest of the day, does that count? I didn´t really levae the house though and was too lazy to take it off.

I did a black line above my crease, in maybe april for a night out, it was really graphic and cool with a shimmery nude lip (mac pale rose). but yeah that’s about it, i am not all that artsy and weird.

      Hi Breyerchic04,

Ha! I’m not either. But I try for the sake of trying because why not?

Happy Friday! I hope you had a good week.
