play-me

Christmas is three weeks away!? Is it just me, or did it come out of nowhere? And purr usual, guess what? Guess who hasn’t even started her Christmas shopping. I’ll give you one guess. 🙂

Oh, well! Every year, I try to finish my shopping early, but this is usually how it plays out. In my defense, though, this year I have other things on my mind, like Baby Girl’s debut this March and pregnancy aches and pains (I finally had to get a Snoogle). I’m officially six months along now.

How are you doing this week? Have you gotten into the holiday spirit yet? I feel like I’m running WAY behind. I think maybe we’ll get a tree this weekend, just a small one for the pine scent, and maybe also take a trip to the mall (ugh!).

Let me know how you’re doing, and give yourself a big hug from me, OK? Talk to you soon, my friend.

I’m weird. I don’t like starters touching me much, including my feet. I’m not someone who hugs openly either. My friends and family I hug all the time, but like coworkers and acquaintances, I like to keep my distance.

OK, I’m going to try to hit most of these.

Christmas can’t come soon enough this year. I’m not going to be the bah-humbug person, but this is a really tough holiday for a number of reasons for me. I lost my Dad this year (it’s really hitting me since his birthday was this week), and my mother’s facing a battle for her life. Everything is making me think of all of this sadness. So please everyone- please enjoy your holiday and hug those loved ones tight!

    OK, sadness over.

I do de-fur during the winter- my workplace requires tights and it’s mild enough for skirts here. No Christmas tree, but I did get the Big Lots twerking penguin. Brownies without nuts, don’t you dare touch my feet unless you’re helping me with shoes or doing a pedi. I’ll be the first to admit it, I’ve tooted in public. We’re all human, it happens at some point. I did wear braces, and I really need them again! My parents were trying to spare my fragile self-esteem and did them early so they’d be off by junior high (7th grade). Too bad the teeth moved back!

Do you shave or otherwise de-fur during fall and winter? About once a week. Ha! I get wayyyy too itchy.
If you have a Christmas tree up, how is it decorated? Yes, and has been for about a month! Oops! It is mostly whites, golds, and reds. My favorite things on it are ornaments that my 91-year-old grandmother made. One set is felt/sequin versions of all the Wizard of Oz character, and the other are egg ornaments that she makes everyone in my family. She is so crafty and incredibly talented. I will cherish them forever and ever.
Brownies: with or without nuts? Without.
How do you feel about strangers touching your feet? Pedicures are fine. Then again, I don’t know why a stranger would be touching my feet! Lol.
Have you ever tooted (aka “passed gas”) in public? Yep.
Did you, or do you now, wear braces? I did years and years ago!

Thanks for giving me a little break from law school finals!

    Happy Holidays!

    Happy Saturday Karen,

Getting dolled up to stay in today because I just can’t deal w/ all of the holiday hustle and bustle. I’ve got one more gift to get and that’s for my mom, but I’m just not settled on what to get her yet. She wants a handbag , but the one she truly wants I can’t seem to get my hands on so I’m hoping I can find a suitable replacement. I dislike the pressures of gift giving even though I know my family is grateful no matter what.

Brownies. I definitely like them w/o nuts. I don’t want the moist, deliciousness of cakey chocolate being disturbed by useless nuts. Now if we’re adding chocolate chips I’m all for it. Chocolate on chocolate is heavenly.

Have a great, safe and blessed weekend.

I don’t do anything fancy for our trees. It’s combination of pretty ornaments, ornaments we’ve collectedm decorations my son has made, and pretty tinsel. Always matching though. This year is white and red.
Strangers touching my feet doesn’t bother me. I love me some spa pedicures!!

Happy 6 months to you and baby girl! Yes, I have a Christmas tree up. I have some Filipino made ornaments with capiz ( I know that’s bad for the corals, but in my defense I bought them before I knew)! I also try to buy a few Christmas ornaments every year to get a variety. The ones they sell in the Hallmark Gift stores are nice, but a little pricey.

I’m a little behind in Christmas decorating too, as we traveled out-of-state for a long Thanksgiving holiday. Tree & lights will go up tomorrow. My tree style is a contemporary mix – white lights & tree topping star, with lots of bright ornaments (from Crate & Barrel a few yrs back)…

I know, TMI, but I tooted in Home Depot recently. I figured I was safe in that no one was near and thus wouldn’t smell me. It was 8:30 am and there was no one in the store, but as circumstances would have it, out of the blue, an employee walks past and I’m turning red with embarrassment, ugh. I hope he didn’t smell me…?

Hello! Happy December! I just love this month!
I de-fur all year long. My husband wouldn’t touch me if I didn’t. And I love in Southern California where it can be 90 in January. Shorts are never far away. Although right now, I need to do some set you de-furring. This pregnancy is cause my hair to grow so fast! I heard it’s a sign one is having a boy, which I found out Thursday I am! So three boys and a girl. I hope this boy isn’t as crazy as my two boys were. Well in my late 30’s… I don’t have the energy I did in my mid-20’s when my boys were born. And my daughter has been a piece of pie (till she turns hormonal…!) in her 4 years. But maybe I have more patience than I did when the boys were young. Happy shopping! Happy December! Happiness to everyone!

If I could fit a tree into our apartment, I think I’d go with a white tree and decorate it in pink, metallics, and lots of sparkles! I think it might have to wait until next year, though, so I’ll be sure to enjoy the tree at my mom’s house when we’re over for Christmas!

Brownies are always delicious, whether they be with or without nuts! I like there to be a crunch so do like to add pecans or walnuts (along with chocolate chips!) to the batter. I used to make brownies from scratch but have fallen in love with the ghiradelli box mix. They are a little pricier than some of the other box mixes, but taste just as good (and sometimes even better) as homemade brownies. Plus it takes away all the extra work of measuring and making my kitchen a mess!

Brownies: dairy free with nuts, why…because I am one. lol I don’t mind when a stranger touches my feet…especially when they fit me for shoes. I tooted in public for sure! lol Not purposefully but I have done it at work on accident and it was heard!!! lol …so embarrassing I ran out before any smell reached their nose and made it worse. lol I don’t wear braces but wish I did. I have crooked front teeth that always gets food trapped in between and I have used an eating to get it out if I am out of floss after lunch. It looks classy in a public washroom. lol Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. <3

I had braces when I was in high school, I’m SO thankful that my mom forced the issue.

Yes, unfortunately for me I have tooted in public. I sit alone at work, I have a large reception area/office to myself. But there is a lot of office foot traffic through my area. More than once I thought I was safe and a few minutes later someone walked in. I’ve finally learned to go to the copier or the lobby and walk around.

Confession time – I haven’t taken my Christmas tree down in 4 years. And no, I don’t redecorate it for different holidays/seasons – it’s always Christmas themed. The first year I had this tree, I took it down and stored it in our shed, but when I got it out the next year, it smelled SO strongly of pesticides that I had to leave the windows open for hours to try to air it out (in the middle of winter!), and it took about a week before I wasn’t smelling it. So, I told my husband we weren’t storing it in the shed again and to put it in the attic. He has a thing about putting things in the attic (no idea why, but we’ve lived here 8 years and there isn’t anything up there!) and told me to find a place in the house. This is a tiny 900 sq ft house, so there isn’t a lot of storage space, especially not enough for a 7 ft tree! Soooo… the tree just stays up. It is all red/white/silver, so it matches our living room decor, and we have an extremely anti-social cat who attacks anyone who enters, so we don’t get visitors. I always get excited at Christmas time when I finally don’t have to feel guilty when I look at the tree!

I had braces in high school. It was horribly painful to have them put on as my teeth were jumbled together (too many teeth for the space; I had two upper teeth and two lower teeth removed for the braces). The orthodontist gave absolutely no painkiller for this process, so I was in severe pain when they were put on. Then I was in pain every single time his assistants worked on them over the course of about two years. He never told me to wear the retainer for the rest of my life, so my teeth moved back somewhat. Apparently they tell people these days to wear their retainer for the rest of their lives.

Mmm, brownies – I’ll take them either with or without nuts (I have no shame when it comes to brownies)! LOL But! It has to be pecans, as I’m allergic to walnuts.

And gads, December snuck up sooo quickly. In my mind, I’m still in October…. And nope, still haven’t put up the tree, nor the wreath on the door, and whoever wants presents this year better give me a list haha! I’m a slacker this year. 🙂

I did wear braces in my teens, and now regret that orthodontic work, even though my teeth do look better, they have scrunched up and are too close together causing a lot of issues for those in-between spaces.

    Brownies without nuts 🙂

I am very uncomfortable with people touching my feet, even in shoe stores, I’d rather try the footwear on my own. As I’ve grown older, I think the discomfort has gone away a bit.

I’m a week from my due date and finally feeling a little more prepared. Also I hauled up the Christmas tree from the basement and got it decorated this past week, Colin has been pretty good about not messing with the ornaments this year after the first couple days. Cheap shatterproof gold balls from Target of course. 🙂 Having more pregnancy related pain at this point than I did with Colin, but approaching the finish line. We’ll see if this guy also decides to be fashionably late, Colin was born a week past his due date.

Our tree is lovely this year! It smells so good, and isn’t really patchy at all. We did warm white lights this year with a big bunch of balls, mostly christmas red and an army green, both satin. Then a bunch of little balls in brown, bronze, white, and taupe. Those have a few shiny balls but mostly satin. Pretty glass icicle ornaments stand in for garland or tinsel. And some lovely crocheted snowflakes and crocheted angel tops it off. I just love this years tree!

(My parents started a tradition where we get an ornament each year so when we moved out we would have decorations to fill our own tree, not to mention all the memories from each of the ornaments we’ve received. So now that my husband and I have kids we have continued on with this tradition with them.)

Do you shave or otherwise de-fur during fall and winter? No, not unless I have somewhere fancy to go.

If you have a Christmas tree up, how is it decorated? I’m not really the tree sort.

Brownies: with or without nuts? With ALL the nuts!

How do you feel about strangers touching your feet? If I’m expecting it, it’s fine, otherwise, ew.

Have you ever tooted (aka “passed gas”) in public? Not intentionally.

Did you, or do you now, wear braces? No.

If there was a good reason that the stranger was touching my feet I think I’d be okay. I’ve never had a pedicure and I think it would feel a little odd, but I’d get through it. My skin doctor examines me since I’m so fair and had to have things burnt off a few times. She checks my feet which includes a little touching and it’s fine, but some creep just because he wants to touch them? I don’t think so, LOL!

Brownies: with or without nuts? Both depending on my mood.

How do you feel about strangers touching your feet? That happens quite a lot in India but not with strangers per se. We touch our elders feet out of respect. None has touched my feet though.

I put up two trees this year. My living room tree used to be my grandparents tree. So I decorated it like they used to using those big round icicle lights. Since they get hot I don’t normaly plug them in much, I also used some regular lights that I can plug in with out the worry. Then we put on red and green ornaments and a few that we made. In my bedroom my tree is girlie, white lights, horses, and crystals galore.

Yes, Christmas tree is up. Decorated with a mish mash of ornaments collected over the years.

Brownies with nuts, although I will take it any way!

I do shave in the winter but not as often. I like brownies with no nuts. I don’t care for strangers touching my feet and I don’t want to touch theirs either.

Yes, we have our tree up. It’s decorated with an assortment of ornaments among others we have Hallmark ornaments that I’ve collected for our daughters, handmade ornaments from our girls, some from when I was little, some from vacations(bought ourselves or souveniers from family) and a few that belonged to my grandma….I think the oldest ones are a set of elves from the 40’s, the girls find them creepy & I keep telling them that they’ll each get one some day LOL. I could tell a story about every ornament. It has colored lights, gold beads, a red & gold velvet tree skirt(K Mart clearance!) a lighted gold star on top. I love our tree 🙂 Merry Christmas!

Our tree is decorated with white lights and a mixture of Christmas ornaments that I’ve had and accumulated throughout my life. We try and get new ornaments each year to say what we did this year. This year we added our 25th wedding anniversary ornament. I love our tree lit up or not lit up. It makes me feel at home.

Hi! Haven’t done much shopping yet, but plan to go to the Mall tomorrow to get some ideas going. We did get our tree this weekend, and decorated the yard. Started doing some indoor decorations today…and also brought Christmas cards to the post office! So everything’s moving along…just gotta do that gift shopping!

Brownies have to have nuts!!!!! It drives ME nuts that everyone around me seems to think otherwise! Chocolate is so rich it needs the crunch to cut through all of that gooeyness! My wish is for everyone to only eat brownies that have nuts (unless you’re allergic than you get a pass)

Christmas tree is up…just strings of lights, no ornament thou. I have a toddler and a baby whom both like to yank things. I think I am going to add some red bows.

LOL I love your ideas for comments. Never had braces and my tree is up but only with lights so far…gotta give the kitties a few days to get used to it being up before ornaments are added. And brownies have to have nuts!

we don’t have our tree up yet, because we’re slackers and will likely get it up the week before christmas (we’ve done it two days before, already haha). ours is full of beautiful quality ornaments, vintage items, and tons of ornaments from various stages of our family’s life. it’s not glamorous or sophisticated, but it makes us happy!

I need a vacation!! I would love to go to Hawaii with the family. I went with hubby once before we had kids and loved it. If I could live somewhere it would be Hawaii!! The food is amazing also! So many types of food like Hawaiian, Korean, Phillipino, you never get bored!

I put my tree up tonight and I don’t have a tree topper so I tried to make a bow and my boyfriend called it a “gutter bow.” Which is fair to say is definitely not a compliment. (lol) I proceeded to look up how to tie a triple bow and 3 hours later I still do not have a tree topper ? Being crafty is not my forte.

I had four years of braces and I’d totally forgotten about them…and now I can’t stop thinking about how annoying the squeaky sound was when they’d put the rubber bands on 🙂
