Win a $50 Sephora e-gift card

Good morning, glory! Rise and shine. 🙂 I hope you slept well. I must admit…I tossed and turned a lot last night, and I’m not sure why. It was probably one part Baby Girl doing her Baby Girl things, and one part Jessica Jones, which I marathon’d on Netflix last night.

It’s that new Marvel comics series starring Krysten Ritter and Carrie-Ann Moss who, coincidence of all coincidences, I bumped into buying cheese in Vancouver, British Columbia, a few years ago.

Yup, El Hub and I were there just visiting for one of my birthdays, and there she was, Carrie-Ann, Trinity herself from the Matrix movies, ordering cheese at a big deli and toting around two babies in strollers.

I didn’t want to interrupt her, so I didn’t say anything, but now I wish I had said “hi!” (Just like that — like a crazy person.)

I like the show so far, but it’s kind of intense… I mean, you know me with sci-fi and comic book stuff, so I like it, but watching it before bed was probably NOT one of my all-time best overall lifetime ideas, haha.

How are things out your way? What are you up to this weekend? Doing anything fun?

My typical skincare issues are dryness and redness, but I get product-related breakouts really easily. I have a routine that works, so key things for me are to resist picking at my skin and to not try new things.

My alarm clocks, a.k.a. kids, woke up the same time as they do every day, 6:30. But I’m a morning person anyway so it works. I just picked up Dior’s Lip Glow today because the sample I tried out was pretty darn awesome. It’s a lot for a lip balm but it does wonderful things for my lips like making them pink, full, and smooth!

GIRL, let me tell you. I have been having very dry skin lately (surprise) combined with rampant acne. The spot treatments I use for acne worsen my dry patches, and my moisturizers (even oil free!) irritate my acne. I need a good skincare switchup. Thanks again for the giveaways!

Hello! This weekend we’re cleaning house and grocery shopping for Thanksgiving. My hubby took a few days of vacation, so he’ll have the whole week of Thanksgiving off. He’s been working long hours, so the kids and I are really looking forward to having him to ourselves.

I’m hoping to dye my hair this weekend as well. My roots are way too long. It scares me whenever I see them, because each time there’s more gray.

Skincare dilemmas! Ugh, yes, I’ve been having them. I’ve even given up on foundation in an attempt to slow down acne. (Most of them contain sodium chloride and other pore-clogging ingredients (!!!), which means instant acne for my sensitive skin.) Even without it, my skin is still acting up, so I’m looking at my cleanser. Philosophy’s Purity has been the least pore-clogging for me, but since it’s the only thing I’ve been using lately, I’m thinking I’m gonna need to start hunting again. Why is skin so difficult? ):

I am just starting to delve into the world of makeup, owning a few drugstore lipsticks (like the Revlon Matte Balms which I love, although I’m using my L’oreal Color Riche Matte Liquid Lipstick in 102 more lately) and mascaras. I thought that’s the only thing I really NEED (well maybe.) But, I saw the latest Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune line and I’m obsessed! I purchased an eyeshadow palette that I really didn’t think I could pull off and now, I’M INTO IT OMG (^o^)/

I’m waiting for next month to come to purchase from the Sephora online shop since they deliver to Japan (YAY!) and justify my purchases as birthday gifts for myself XD I’d grab the BITE Beauty Discovery Set if they’re still in stock and the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve (Because even if I love my peachy nude L’oreal Liquid Lipstick right now, they transfer like crazy)

Hope you have a nice day! (and definitely snowboarding for me.)

I’m stuck at home writing two papers due on Thursday and Friday and I’m studying for a pathology/pharmacology test I have on Wednesday. It’s going to be a loooong week (like most weeks). Never been on any kind of retreat, but I have gone on a few CPE trips with coworkers. They were rather stressful and exhausting. At least I got to see Ben Franklin’s gravesite and the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, a city I might never have seen otherwise.

everybody does mistakes when applying makeup, nobody perfects it. there’s a few rules that I think should never be broken. 1-when filling your eyebrows dont start from the beginning, start parallel to the side of your nose.
2-when you do makeup, always balance the look, if you have black smokey eyes that are so vibrant and just bam always balance it with a nude or baby pink lip color and vice versa.
there’s more but those mistakes are the most the most common ones here where i live.

These days I seem to be getting cystic acne on my cheeks. The pimples will go away but now they leave scars! It’s not really a dilemma, but I would just love to find a 100% mineral sunscreen SPF 30 or greater that works really well under makeup and gives me (or at least doesn’t interfere with) the glow-y finish I like. I love Paula’s Choice Resist Super Light Daily Defense SPF 30, but it has a matte finish that affects the makeup I apply over it (love it for my neck/decolletage, however). I’ve got some Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30 (ouch! on the price — I used a 20% off coupon) to try, but and it doesn’t have that matte look, but it doesn’t seem to really sink into my skin, either, for the foundation to go on top — I’m going to try stippling foundation over it with a Beauty Blender.

Try coconut oil..It’s my go to for my families dry and sensitive skin. All except my husband who is allergic to it. Glaxal base is really good too as it is just that a base cream without all the added extra stuff that can cause allergic reactions and it’s thick!

I don’t think there are very many makeup rules that shouldn’t be broken. The main one for me personally would be to match my foundation to my actual skin tone. I hear some women say that they can warm up a foundation by adding bronzer or adjust in some other way but on me it always looks just plain weird.

A makeup rule that you think should NOT be broken?

I’m a pretty firm believer that if something is not listed as eye safe, you shouldn’t use it on your eyes, but that may come from many years of contact wearing. I know lots of people who’d stick their contacts in their mouth, if they didn’t have saline, but I could never even bring myself to do that.

Always wash brushes!!! I used to not wash my brushes as frequently as I should have, and now that I do, I notice such a difference! Application is smoother, my brushes last longer, and I think my skin is noticeably better as a result. We forget about all the bacteria lurking among the hairs of our brushes and how we can spread them and ruin very nice makeup not to mention our precious skin!

It’s funny when you bump into someone famous.. should I say something? Or just leave them alone? That happened to us when we were in GA visiting the Walking Dead location shoots. It was an off week, they weren’t filming so didn’t expect to see anyone. Well we were inside the Walking Dead store, just browsing around when my daughter saw Greg Nicotero in there! He’s one of the producers. She didn’t want to bug him, he was there with his family. He was real nice about it, she told him she knew he was there with his family so we didn’t want to bug him. Just wanted to know if she could have a picture taken with him. And he did, he said he appreciated the thought. He was really nice about it 🙂

This weekend my boyfriend has a cold, which means we stayed inside the whole time and relaxed (fine by me), but this also meant that he needed to be taken care of and have every little detail fixed. I already call him Princess, but when he is sick it is like the sky is falling and everything. Plus, I don’t want him spreading germs around our place, which he uses as a double excuse to have things done for him. But he always takes care of me when I’m sick, so I guess it evens out.
